Adj: Incredibly impressive and Excellently Extensive It's been many years since my last review and this is not my usual Asian/Chinese grocery market since SF market opened on South Land Park Dr and is closer and much less crowded. However, I was in the area for lunch the other day and decided to do some shopping here and was blown away by how clean and well-organized it is as well as the comprehensiveness of the store's offerings. At the entrance, my kids were captivated by the little games at the front lobby. Then there's the food court, it looks very yummy and the offerings of roasted chicken, ducks, pork and other meats look very enticing had we not just had a very full lunch, I would've definitely grabbed lunch here. There's also the hot food section w/classic "fast food" Chinese dishes like chow mein, fried rice, potstickers, etc. All of it looked pretty fresh and smelled delicious. A new to me section is the Grab and Go foods. I don't recall those in the past, but perhaps it's been available for awhile. So convenient! There's quite a few different choices to include baos, dumplings, chicken, and duck, and several kinds of other meats, all precooked and just need to be rewarmed to be Ready-to-Eat. Then, we walked to the meat section and it's very extensive, all kinds of beef, pork, poultry, fish, seafoods, of both fresh and frozen varieties. Next, there was the produce section with tons of Asian veggies and fruits, all looked quite fresh. The tofu section along in the cold case of the produce area was big, so many kinds to choose from and 99 Ranch even has their own store brand of tofu now, that's news to me. Finally, the rest of the store was filled with shelf-stabled pantry items from snacks like chips, cookies, crackers, packaged pastries, other candies and sweets, to dry ingredients for cooking like dried fungus, mushrooms, herbs, dried fruits (like dried dates for soups), and lots of sauces in jars. Canned Asian drinks and bags and boxed tea bags and tea powders were also widely available with an incredible selection to choose from. The store itself also houses several individual boutique stores to provide convenient services such as a travel agency, an internet and mobile phone store, a clothing store, a tea and TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine) type herbal store, and several different smaller restaurants (more like fast food cafes). As we finished shopping, we walked past the bakery. It was filled with all the yummy carbs you can imagine from sliced breads to bao's and buns to all kinds of custom and ready-made birthday and other special occasion cakes. Overall, I was really impressed by how much 99 Ranch can stock in their store and the sheer variety they offered of every kind of items. Service was friendly and helpful, staff are all busy stocking or helping customers check out, so mostly it's a self-service store, but if you were looking for something, a staff could be found to point the way. I'm glad I came in and saw all the things 99 Ranch offer now so when I'm looking for something specific I cannot find at SF Market or another grocery store, I'll come here and probably find it. read more

Today was a busy day at 99 Ranch. We were able to find parking no problem as someone was just pulling out as we pulled into the lane so we got the 3rd spot from the front and an easy walk to the entrance. We lucked out on getting a cart. Someone had just returned the cart to the front so we snagged it. When we left there were no carts in the cart return so you'd have to fetch one yourself out of the parking lot. The carts that were in the cart return were all locked up so those don't really count. I think it was so busy today due to it's Chinese New Years next week and everyone was stocking up. They all had carts overflowing with goods. It wasn't this busy the last time we came here on a Saturday. The line was at-least 5 deep at all the check stands and they had multiple check stands open. My husband said there may have been a glitch in there cash register system as the lines seemed to be going slower then usual. Today we were here for neck bones so he could make gravy, the one from the Soprano's cook book. He loves that show and has watched it multiple times. I'm not talking a movie, the whole series he's watched multiple times. Now there is a pod cast like thing they have and he's watching that. It's talking about each episode with its back story. They were just unloading a new box of neck bones when we arrived so we waited for them to unload before we placed our order. We got one set and had it cut into smaller pieces by there giant saw they have in back. The people in front of us did the same thing. They actually requested to be cut into 4 parks and we just said smaller pieces. While there we also got a 10 lb bag of rice. We go the cheapest one. 99 Ranch's own brand for $9.99. The rice is short or medium grain so it's what I like. I've been buying the cheap long grain at Raley's so this one should be much better. They didn't have a small bag of Jasmine so we weren't able to get that kind as that's also a favorite of mine. And we didn't need 25 lbs so we passed on that option. We don't have room to store 25 lbs even though it's a better by. We did spend over $40 so we got the $2 script. We went to the bakers and got the 2 egg custards for $6 so we only paid out of pocket $4 which was a great deal Only $2 each. We love getting that script. It's totally a gift and we always indulge on the good stuff. We used to get more script and get their dim sum, but since we don't get that much these days we just stick with the egg custards. I do like there dim sum and hot plate dishes. Last time we got eggplant and Chowmein from their hot plates and it was delicious with the hot fresh crab we got. We had them steam a crawl at that time and it was perfect. No cooking for the entire meal. Now we're home ready to make the gravy. I hope your mouth is watering reading this review as much as mine is. The gravy will take a few too many hours to make, but it will be worth the wait. read more

I was in the area getting some work done to my vehicle and decided to eat something while waiting. The food court here is self serve for the dim sum counter. The food looked hot & fresh but was only warm when I started eating. I almost rated the place a 3 star but the table area is really clean so that the experience a 3.5 star. As I stated before, I was just in the area and I highly doubt if I would come back. Stopped by on Sunday May 10th, Mother's Day. The good: Bigger location than the ones I've been to. Pretty clean and organized. Seafood area smell was minimal, which was great. Normally when you come into an Asian store, the meat/seafood smells can get overwhelming. This was not the case with this location. Food court area looked spacious, bigger than I've seen in other 99 R locations. The bad: None that I can point out. The stupid: I had the 99 Ranch app and showed barcode to cashier to scan. She looked at it and said "tomorrow." I asked why. She just said "Not today, tomorrow." I'm like, we're here now, we don't need to come back tomorrow, we're not understanding. She called for a manager to come up. Manager came up, said the same thing. Very confused, made it a disappointing experience. Not sure if we want to come back to this location, it rubbed us the wrong way and thus, 3 stars. If I could, it would be 2.5 stars instead, but rating system doesn't give option to give half points, lol. read more

Ranch 99 has almost about everything. Love coming here for their seafood. You can ask for crab to be steamed when you buy them live. Saves you cooking time, or you can even buy them cooked. Other than that they have a food court with a few food options to choose from. Love their bakery section. Food selection - 4.0 Service - 2.8 99 Ranch Market is considered one of the larger Asian grocery store chains, so this location is no exception. A nice selection of Asian foods: fresh, frozen, canned, etc; but there also "American" Style foods and products mixed in on the shelves. If you looking for baked goods or other hot foods freshly made there are options to purchase those too. If you never been in one of these types of grocery stores then make it a destination stop if you're in the area and I bet you'll be surprised what you'll walk out with. 99 ranch is a great Asian market for your Asian grocery needs. I love coming here for their fruits and veggies. I also come for the snacks and occasional stock up of condiments and sauces. I wish there was one closer to me but unfortunately this one is the closest. If you shop here and spend some money in here they give you 99 ranch dollars that you get to spend on their bakery or their little food court. I love that bc it's a great snack. We were able to grab some bread. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty packed. One thing I don't like is the smell. I wish they would do something about it. They have fresh seafood, but other Asian markets have the same and don't often have this smell. Overall a great place to buy Asian goods, the price is great too. read more

I went there today to get a few things for Chinese New Year. The line was very long and I had to go through obstacles like for track and field. They put too many things in front and near the cashier. I do love me some 99 Ranch Market as they have the best selection of all of my favorites. We celebrated my Chinese aunt's birthday this past weekend and went crazy with the dim sum, char sui baos, roasted duck, and all sorts of chips and cookies. We also got the die fo whipped cream frosting cake with strawberry cream in the middle. My brother and his family came up from the central Coast in California, where there is nothing like it there and it was a hoot watching him and his daughters going up and down the aisle. 99 Ranch Market was my "go to " Asian Market while living in Southern California and for me, they are the biggest and the best. Clean and organized. All the great smells of Asian culinary delights. Staff are very friendly. I spend $$$$$ there always and bring loads back over the mountain to Reno. So worth it for me. Also if you like fresh Shiitake mushrooms, it was $6.99 a pound there. We pay $13/#1 in Hawaii. I had a conversation with the lady in the jewelry store there. I have been going to this 99 Ranch for years and think it is the best of the Asian markets in Sac. The layout is familiar and their selection rotates frequently, which makes every trip feel a little bit like a treasure hunt. I highly recommend their bakery, which offers lots of fresh baked goods that I prefer over other bakeries. Prices tend to be fair but I would definitely keep an eye for sales whenever possible, as I have noticed the prices going up in recent months (probably due to tariffs). Similarly, the environment has gotten a little worse recently. This market is usually bustling with people, but has recently had fewer and fewer visitors. The folks who work here are friendly and helpful, but I would be lying if it didn't make me sad to see it less busy here. read more

Bakery section: I thought the price was a bit high for a standard whipped-cream cake with fruit. It was around $30-$40 for a full cake. I was hoping for something more like those Japanese-style chiffon cakes with fruit. read more

Excellent market to shop for all things Asian. My one serious complaint; 3 separate times I have picked up sticky rice in bamboo leaf in the food court and SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR NO PEANUTS (nut allergies). Each and every time I was given sticky rice with peanuts. I live in North Natomas so it was not convenient to return all the way back to the South Area Florin Road 99 Ranch location. If you have nut allergies, please be very aware that you may not get what you are actually asking for. To be completely honest, it would be very difficult to open up a wrapped sticky rice all tied up with string to literally check to see if there's any peanuts. It's hard to understand why this keeps happening. The food court needs to do better. read more

It's a large store with much to select from. The prices are better than the Ranch 99 stores in the Bay Area. This store is clean and warm in the sense of feeling welcome. We enjoyed the employees we spoke with. They didn't have everything I was looking for. But that's okay. The important things they have. read more

Getting specific items you can get coupons for inhouse food. Like a buck for 20 or sometimes 2 for twenty. Unsure if you can use them for groceries as well. I have seen others doing this, but I have only used my coupons for the food to go. Nice to get snacks or a meal on the way out. The inhouse food area is now connected to or being monitored by a big Chinese restaurant family (saw one of their owners in the store - the chicken feet is fixed and very akin to the taste of said restaurants) that runs a portion of Dim Sum in the Sacramento area. That being said, the choice items for Dim Sum take out has changed in my opinion to, fried shrimp balls, Shiu Mai, chicken feet, eggplant, wonton dumplings, daikon cake, and sticky rice. The Ha Gow still too small for the price they are asking for and or not enough. The wonton dumpling is huge and better anyways. Lee Kum Kee Chili crisp is my preferred sauce. If you are here, I would suggest looking at their inhouse steaming and frozen items, specifically the frozen daikon cakes. Extremely cheap, easy to make and throw onto fried rice and mix in for texture and flavor. There are other packaged dim sum items, but they are a gamble. The Daikon frozen dim sum cakes however have the Ranch 99 logo on them. Get them they are good. The groceries have greatly improved here. The fish area is usually busy, and the attendants seem to not want to really work or are too busy. However, they will fry your fish you just bought for free I believe. Area is slowly getting better, no more weaponized homeless in the area. Inhouse security and the ones outside doing their jobs. Grocery cart still seems bad, but that's just the color scheme I am thinking now. The inhouse security guards are polite and nice. Park near the restaurant on the side, less traffic, easier to get out etc. Note. Avoid the pig feet take out. Someone doesn't wash the pig feet. Makes me wonder about their broth if they did this... which is used for a lot of things. I still want to try their ducks and BBQ pork. read more

It doesn't look that big on the outside, but boy on the inside, it's massive! Before you even get to the grocery section, they have a hot food bar, they have a roastery, noodle and congee bar, even a dim sum bar. Then you get to the groceries. Anything and everything you need. A huge meat and fish section, a huge produce section, including many items that I have never even heard of before. Just about any kind of grocery you need. They even have one aisle of nothing but Ramen/noodle bowls. They also have a decent size bakery. In the front of the store, they have a cell phone shop, an herbalist shop, a tea shop, Boba tea place, a small clothing store, even a travel agency. The people are friendly, and the grocery prices are reasonable. I will be back. Thank you. read more

I came in to look around. Left with a toilet plunger, 1lb of fancy pu ehr tea, and baked goods. I also had some random food from the food court. All in all a successful mission. After arriving at the Sacramento airport and getting our car rental yesterday morning, my husband and I decided to make a drive out here for groceries since the new coming soon H Mart is not open yet (but am looking forward to checking it out when it does). This 99 Ranch Market has a hot deli that sells dim sum in which you can serve yourself and pay based on the container size you choose. There is also a bakery as well. This 99 Ranch Market is clean and does not have the familiar smell that is often associated with Asian markets. There is a great selection of snacks, dried noodles and candies towards the front of the store and also right by the registers. The produce section has a great selection and quality of fruits and vegetables. Some that are pretty fairly priced and some a little more expensive that other grocery markets that I frequent. On this shopping trip, we ended up purchasing things for hot pot (I know it's summer time, but my husband thought it would be nice to have hot pot and load it up with some vegetables and make it easy to cook). We purchased a Little Sheep branded soup base and thinly sliced short ribs, fish balls in the freezer section, a variety of vegetables and dry noodles. We also decided to purchase yakisoba noodles so that I could make another dish so we could have some variety for the week. After we paid for our items at the register (which the employee that rang us up was nice and friendly), I was surprised to be given two $1 coupons that can be redeemed at the hot deli and bakery. My total came out to $48.90 but then my husband realized that there were a few other items he wanted to purchase so the second transaction was $14.92. We only got the coupon with the first transaction and not with the second (so I am not sure what is the minimum needed to earn these coupons). I am so glad that I did not end up purchasing in the bakery when we first arrived at the market (although we had considered it) and ended up using our two $1 coupons to purchase sponge cake and a taro bun (which was perfect since my husband and I were starting to get hungry since we did not eat a big enough breakfast at the airport lounge before flying out to Sacramento). The sponge cake was huge and only cost me $2.89. It was nice and fluffy and perfectly made. The taro filled bun my husband got was a pretty big size (cost $2.83) and was pleasantly surprised that there was taro filling throughout and not just a small amount in the middle. Overall, had a fantastic shopping experience and will definitely be coming back to this location again in the future. read more

I wish this store had more locations, it's my go-to for any Asian groceries! I also like their bakery and never leave without getting the individually-wrapped items like the red bean bun, or cheese/garlic pastry. This time I got a couple of the loaves: one was the red bean and the other was coconut for my parents- they love coconut. I actually haven't seen that $5 round size loaf before so I had to try! There's also a lot of produce to choose from along with poultry. I got a couple noodles that were Korean and Japanese, can't wait to try them. I also am going to try a new brand of oyster sauce and it's gluten-free! Overall, this store was clean with friendly customer service. So far, in the Sacramento area there's only this and the Folsom location. I can't remember if the soup/noodle station was open at the Folsom location but in this one it's temporarily closed per the employee I asked. Parking is decent just in a busy area. I really wish they had more than the 2 locations!l but for now I'll take advantage of coming here when I visit this area. read more

I love 99 Ranch Market! I think this is one of the best Asian grocery stores around Sacramento. When you're around the fish market area, it's not as smelly as the other Asian grocery stores. They sell all kinds of fresh Asian vegetables. You'll be able to buy some of these in an American grocery store, but it'll be at a higher price. I also love coming for all the different jars of spices to make soup. I come for the the Durian fruit as well. I absolutely LOVE this stinky fruit that tastes like custard. If you're looking for different chips, cookies, noodles, meats, candy or coffee...this is your place!! They also have kitchen supplies to health and beauty stuff. They also have a little cake and treats area. OMGoodness!! They have the BEST coconut cream filled pastries! The other pastries are delicious, but coconut is my FAVE. Overall, a GREAT grocery store. This is one of the less updated 99 Ranches but I like that the grit feels like I'm in an authentic Asian grocery store. As a grocer, I don't want highly polished everything, I want deals, I want all my specialty items accounted for, and I want a nice meal at the end. They deliver. read more

Huge store, ample parking, clean, orgazined, tons of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, snacks, frozen foods, sauces and condiments... the list goes on and on. During special occasions such as Lunar New Year, they carry everything you could possibly want to celebrate the new year. Since Covid-19, they pretty much came back as before but it took an awful long time especially the dim sum and hot foods area. What didn't come back is their won ton/noodles soup bar and dining area. Reasonable Asian market. It's pretty big and has more than just the essentials. Depending on the item, prices can be reasonably cheap or overpriced. Pay attention to what you're grabbing! They also have a hot foods counter that serves Chinese style plates and dimsum. I grabbed a couple of dimsum dishes during my last shopping visit. 3 dimsum items for $4.60, not bad for the grocery store. The shu mai was okay, shrimp balls satisfied my craving and the pork bun was eh. But what really sold me were the HUGE sesame balls and pork turnovers. They're like double or triple the size of the balls/turnovers you get at the dim sum restaurant! It's not the best dim sum but it's good enough. Lol read more

I love going to 99 Ranch Market. I have been for the past 40 years both in the Bay Area and in their Sacramento CA. location. They have a variety of Asian products, seafood, meat and poultry just to name a few. The prices are competitive and comparable to their competition. However, their products are not old and pricey (like at Island Pacific Supermarket). The service is excellent. For a none Cantonese or Mandarin speaking person like me, all the staff are very helpful. If they do not speak great English, they will call another staff who communicates well in English. The ambience is very good to excellent in my opinion. It has adequate heat during the winter months (Unlike Island Pacific Supermarket which is freezing cold and an actual health hazard since I developed a bad cold after going there several days ago during this winter of 2025. I on another grocery shopping day at 99 Ranch Market this coming week. I am also looking forward for them to open another store in the Elk Grove CA. area if the rumours I heard is true. I hope so. The possible site will be very close to my house, about 5 minutes drive and 15 minutes walking. read more

First time grabbing a boba tea in 99 ranch market at the bakery. Ordered their Assam milk tea. There wasn't any choices of level or sugar or ice but that's okay. The milk tea wasn't too sweet so that's a plus. Would like my boba a bit softer but overall the drink wasn't bad and the pricing was decent. Would definitely go back and try the other drinks. read more

Decent Asian grocery store. Can usually get decent prices on live lobsters. Large selection of items. 4 stars The hot food section where they sell dim sum & roast duck was not good though. Purchased some sui mai & shark fin dumplings that were old & not good. Purchased a whole roast duck that was just ok. The duck was old and not glistening. When the butcher cut open the duck to chop it up, not one drop of juice came out. Very bad sign. The duck was kind of dry, slightly overcooked & the seasoning was spotty & uneven. This is my go to Asian market. The place doesn't smell like fish surprisingly because they have fresh fish and seafood. Today I went and got some fresh food from there prepared foods. I got some Salt Lake ponds and black bean spareribs. They give the best portions, and it taste very authentic. They are very quick ! I also bought the usual of some sauces I was out of they pretty much have everything there they even have dim sum , duck pork belly if you get fresh fish or seafood, they will even cook it for you. That's my favorite because your house doesn't smell up. The store itself is pretty clean, but has everything in there fresh tofu, fresh noodles, fresh seafood, that's prepared, fresh veggies, and fruits I can never go wrong at Ranch 99. read more
