Great hole in the wall lunch spot hidden in downtown. Inside of this small Chinese market located at the back is a takeout counter with Chinese BBQ dishes like crunchy roasted pork belly, bbq pork, roasted duck, and a bunch of other Chinese food staples. I was greeted when I walked in, and directed to the food counter in the back where I ordered my BBQ pork over rice. The portion size was so big, I had half of it left after my lunch. Under the bbq pork was a bunch of bok choy, and a pile of steamed rice. All of that was only about $11, and I still have enough for lunch tomorrow. The bbq pork was tender, and the flavor was very good. I also appreciate that they didn't use food dye to make it a deep red color. Finally tried this place after driving by it for a while. Hole-in-the-wall spots like this can be hidden gems- sadly, this one was just a hole. We ordered four different dishes and every single one was not good. The food was overly salty and tasted a bit off. 1. The chicken chow mein noodles were breaking apart, the chicken tasted dry, and red onions that had no business being in that dish. 2. The special of the day, spareribs with black bean sauce was even worse. The ribs were so overcooked the meat was basically falling apart off the bone, and there were broken bone fragments and pieces of star anise mixed throughout the gravy poured over the rice and bok choy. Huge choking hazard if someone didn't notice before eating. 3. Another odd thing was the sweet and sour chicken being sold by the pound. I've never heard of sweet and sour chicken being charged like that before. We specifically asked for 1 lb, but the guy cooked 2 lbs which came out to over $22 just for that dish alone. We had to ask them to correct it, and while they did, the cashier seemed visibly annoyed about it. 4. The roasted duck over rice was also salty, dry, barely any meat, mostly bones. They packed the rice all the way to the brim of the to-go container while giving very little actual meat. Honestly, I do not understand how this place has 5 star reviews. All four dishes had the same problems, which tells me this wasn't just bad luck - it's probably just how the food is. Definitely not coming back. The service was sweet and authentic - two kind ladies working the store - both were incredibly polite and accommodating to my family (gave us complimentary samples of their different offerings and chocolate for the little ones). The vibe is impeccable (local independent Chinese grocery/take out). And the Peking Pork/Peking Ribs??? D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. Woooww!! I was looking for a place to jog my nostalgia for bbq and crispy pork but didn't want to make the drive to go to south sac Asian stores. This cute little Asian convenient store had basic Asian cooking supplies and hot food in the back. I'm assume it is a family ran store and I'm so glad I found them. The crispy pork was so juicy, tender, with crunchy skin *chefs kiss*! Will def be going back. The food is so good I can't recommend it enough to anyone who will listen. To top it off a plate is under $7 for a giant serving and you get enough rice with it to last you the rest of the week! This is a very neat and friendly small store. It seems a lot more organized and cleaner than most Chinese markets and the hot food has been excellent. I call in advance to preorder my noodkes and it's always ready when I come to pick it up. They have saved me in a jam before too. I've bought their BBQ pork a few times and it is very good and their price is usually the lowest in town. Their BBQ pork is now $8.95 a pound, whereas SF Market in South Land Park now wants $10.95 a pound. But today I tried one of their very simple plate lunches of roasted pork, bok choy and steamed rice. It was amazing and easily enough for 2 people for only $7.95! This place is only 4 blocks from my office so it will probably be now in "heavy rotation" of our lunch spots--especially since everyone else is raising their prices! Okay so this is a small ma & pa shop. When I mean small, I mean small and cozy. But don't let the outside and tightness inside fool you. They have a bunch of asian grocery goodies/finds in there including a hot plate service in the back. So if you're looking to pick up like a quick spare ribs rice bowl, you can go here. The one downside is that they take cash only. So go prepared with those greens. I went there to grab me a pound of roasted pork (lechon) cause I was craving and they did not disappoint. The skin was crispy and melts in your mouth while the pork was juicy and flavorful. The people there are super nice and will take their time to help you out. Go check it out. Definitely recommend. A very tiny little corner store (it's not on the corner though) located downtown and although it's small, they've somehow packed a TON of merchandise inside. There's frozen Chinese meatballs and other "mystery" meats (mostly like squids, fish, and more exotic sea creatures, etc.), fresh vegetables which are probably locally sourced from individual backyards, and lots of sundries and Chinese staples like spices, beans, herbs, and some OTC Chinese medicine. Overall, it's a good little Chinese grocery/general store and it definitely is a gem for the downtown residents who may not have cars to drive far to access larger traditional American grocery stores. read more

It's a tiny little store with a lot of staples that you need when cooking Asian cuisine. I can fill up a whole bag and the total is usually around $10.
