A good, solid 3. They are often out of the things we love, and I guess those are what everyone else loves too. Half of the employees are super nice the other half are indifferent. The bathrooms really need a good cleaning but they are serviceable. We like the plaza location and it has more than ample parking. My doctor was trying to find a pharmacy to fill a particular prescription, so they called it in to this store. There was quite a line for pharmacy pickup. There was an older man waiting who was complaining loudly that this is the slowest pharmacy place around. When it was my turn, they looked me up in the computer and said it was not ready, they needed reauthorization, yadda yadda. I told them it was called in 3 days ago and handed them a Smart Rx card. They asked me to step to the side & wait. So then they said they did not have the right size but would fill it with a larger tube of the cream. They told me to walk around and come back in 15 minutes, which I did. I was looking for a couple of food items but could not find either one. The store was freezing. I finally got checked out with my Rx. Then I stopped at the Safeway gas station out front--they had the slowest pumps I have encountered in years. Nope, never again. read more

Shelves stocked, everything looks clean, but only two checkers & no baggers. Sure, there are six self checks but I don't like juggling groceries. One checker requested baggers ~ no-one came. Two associates standing by customer service ~ talking ~ did not respond to request. My time is valuable ~ this Safeway is such a disappointment. read more

At first I thought the change in ownership would mean a change in more than flooring and signage...alas, it has gotten worse. The deli department in particular is a wreck. They have the same excuse nearly every day for why they cannot stock the pre-made sandwiches...and no matter what time of day I go in to find them, I get the same response..."Oh, we were just going to get to those..." The Edgewater MD Safeway has so many things wrong with it, it's textbook poor. It's Friday at noon, aisles clogged with inventory people (not stocking people) and free standing display stacks. Frozen food at its usual pathetic 25% capacity, produce meh, meat dept with "sale" sign at the meat (pkg qty) that wasn't on sale (surprise at checkout for some)....4 items at checkout with sale prices that didn't match or were not applied. And that's the checkout of only one (!) lane open and the cashier telling me to go to customer service re the sale items.....customer service was manning the 10 items aisle! Last week the apple kiosk had a swarm of fruit flies buzzing in the center.....but good news, the Christmas candy is out already. read more

I placed an order (54883844) on Dec 22nd for a quantity of 2 (8 pack) batteries with delivery. The total price was $41.00 with tip and delivery. I received 4 batteries and they claimed I agreed to a substitution on this order. What substititution I cried I got short shiftened 12 batteries! I was on the phone for over an hour with customer service and they kept telling me they filled the order because I agreed to a substitution. A substitution is maybe a duracell for energizer battery but shortening an order 12 batteries cannot be called a substitution. This is a robbery!!!! 4 batteries $41.00 dollars!!!! read more

Had to go grocery shopping early in the morning and much to my surprise the staff Patrice, Tony (meat dept.), Andy, Mary and of course Chris (at deli) made my shopping pleasant. I never shop in the morning thinking staff will be not so in a good mood but these folks above was very helpful and have a big smiles on their faces. Wonderful staff. Extremely rude staff. I usually don't say things like this, but I was shocked by the poor attitude of two female employees who were loitering at the front of the store. I understand working during a pandemic is stressful, but it did not make me feel welcome when I was laughed at for asking a simple question. read more

Definitely experienced better. The produce is hit or miss, the items are not easily found, and the organization is shaky at best. The seafood department can be detected by the nostrils from too far away to be healthy. Otherwise, same Safeway you're used to. Nothing to write home about, though. read more

Horrible customer service. ALSO They do not care if a dog is left in a hot car in their parking lot...they say "its not our problem and that they will get in trouble if they say anything" What?????? This store should be run by better caring human beings. I suggest a change in managers and an assessment of their customer service skills. Customer service means to care about the services provided. The child with the beard...the manager?...does not care about dogs left in cars.....or the products sold by Safeway. Here's the deal with this Safeway: They will advertise sales and then charge you more than the advertised price. If you're smart enough to catch it, their customer service reps will claim mathematics ignorance to cheat you out of even more money. When you tell them they are doing their math wrong, they get snippy and shove the receipt back in your face and ask you to just tell them how much they owe you. Good times. If you're a Just4U member, you really have to watch them. I go online before I go to the store, pick my deals and here's the key: WRITE DOWN THE PRICES then go shopping. Check your receipt before leaving. You'll most definitely spend several minutes in line trying to get money back from the customer service desk while they scratch their heads in confusion. read more

I punched my phone number in so that the computer could recognize my member card account and it was invalid. "The computer is still not recognizing my number after four months," I said to the clerk, "do you have a member card I could swipe? Mine is on my key chain in the car." The clerk rolled her eyes and sighed the word "no". "Really?" I asked, exasperated. Luckily the customer behind me swiped her card for me. Then the "unexpected item" warning came up and wouldn't let me continue. I stood there waiting for about 5 minutes for the clerk to come back (she had left at the exact moment the warning came up). She came and cleared the error and then all but accused me of stealing because seven out of the nine things in the bagging area were not showing up on the register. "What about all these items?" She asked accusingly. Being that I am a military officer I take these kinds of things quite seriously. "You stood there and watched me scanning all of this stuff," I said as I started rescanning everything. Luckily the customer behind me let me scan her card again because we both knew the store wasn't going to help. Speaking of stealing. There has been at least half a dozen instances where the price on the shelf says one price and then the register says several dollars more (those are just the times I've paid close enough attention who knows how much I've missed.) read more

Check your receipt!! I would say 90% of the time I am overcharged for at least one thing. Sometimes it's only a dollar, but other times it adds up to a Starbucks on the way out the door!! Happens too often for it to be accidental unless their employees are just completely incapable of putting the correct prices on the shelves!!! I am a price shopper so I know how much everything is supposed to cost. I bet I "save" if you want to call it that since it's actually the advertised price, over $100 a year checking my receipts. Happens at Giant about 10% of the time so this is definitely an issue! read more

This store consistently overcharges. Sale prices will not be entered in the computer so you have to watch and check your receipt before you leave the store. Most times you then have to wait for a manager to come check and reimburse the money owed. Many times sale items are not available. Full price items that look almost the same as the sale items will be substituted in the spot where the sale sign is so you have to read the fine print always. There is some really good food here and it's the most convenient store for me but every few months I get so irritated at being cheated I stop shopping there. Recently I wanted to get a raincheck for a sale item that was not available but there were only 2 cashiers at the time and NO managers in the store at all. This was at 6:30 on a Friday evening. Thank goodness I have Giant and Trader Joes to go to. Those stores are managed so much better. Safeway should take lessons from them. read more

Customers should be aware that the young man who collects carts in the parking lot occasionally hits parked vehicles. I have videotaped this and reported it. Just yesterday my neighbor witnessed him hitting a white Maserati with a blue top and FL tags. read more

i was shocked and apauled to witness the manager of the store walk over to a young female employee and grab her rear then tell her to meet him in his office all well within public view and in no way discrete about it. i have been a long time shopper at this location and have noticed that management has always treated its employes subparly butthus took the cake. i will no longer be shoping here, i guess wegmans or harris teater will be getting my money from now on read more
