This is the closes grocery store near home so I come here quite often. I just wish they have gas station, it would of been more convenient. I love the staff here, they will go above and beyond. This store is pretty compact yet It's fully stocked with everything I need on a daily basis. They often offer great deals on Skinless Chicken Breast, which is great. Produce area always looking so pretty.......but it's a bit pricey compare to some stores further away. So, if I have to buy more than my normal groceries, I tend to go elsewhere. Other than that, this Safeway is my go to place when we need something quick or when we have company at our house. read more

I bought a red velvet cake from this location today. Unfortunately I did not check the 'Sell thru' date while at the store. Later when I cut and served the cake, I realized that it had a stale taste. Looking at the 'Sell thru' date I saw that the date had passed a day earlier i.e. the cake that the bakery section had put out was stale and past it's due date. Really disappointed that this location has no quality control and sells stale food past its due date to hapless customers. Beware! read more

Even though I called The corporate office to complain about expired items and still looks like they are not pulling things. This is such a bummer as it is the closest store for me. I really wish they were better about pulling these expired items. Today I found these on the shelf with a November 11 expiration date and today is the 22nd. This Safeway bakery sets a high bar and overwhelmingly exceeds it! My last minute order for a two-tier Ariel cake was the most beautiful, tasty and well made cake I've purchased. Other than a custom cake I ordered from a baker in Oakland, this would be the next best. Called on Tuesday afternoon to ask if a special order cake could be made by Wednesday. Had to go in to talk with Karen, the head baker, about what I wanted. I wasnt sure how custom they could get because after all it's a grocery store. Upon walking up and seeing the variety of cakes, all done up in their own colorful way I knew I had come to the right place. Karen and I chatted about options and quickly came to an agreement for the two-tier Ariel Sweet 16 birthday cake. I felt confident that it would be all she pumped it up to be. Rest assured I pick it up, along with a nice set of red velvet cupcakes I also ordered. I was thoroughly impressed with her work. I left with everything I wanted and a huge smile on my face knowing it would be a huge surprise. The BIG reveal when I got home was all that I hoped it would be. The birthday girl was ecstatic! She immediately started snapping photos to post on Instagram. Lol I must also mention this cake did not break the bank. At less than $40 it was a super awesome buy. Everyone who celebrated with us was highly complimentary of the cake, both for it's work of art, and for its freshness and tastiness. I love the non-dairy frosting. It's light, fluffy and not too sweet. BTW bottom tier was white cake with fresh strawberries and the top was chocolate with custard. This is probably the worst Safeway in the tri Valley. It's really disappointing that this location is only two blocks away from my house. Buyers beware look at all the expiration dates on your items because for some reason it's appropriate for them to sell expired products. The guy who makes sandwiches is extremely grumpy. The lady at the flower table doesn't know what she's doing and the cashiers always seem stressed out. in other Safeway stores or even Whole Foods you can actually see, Employees are happy. I saw this new hot deli item on their weekly ad - the Firecracker Chicken Sandwich - and I just had to try it. It sounded promising with the use of brioche bun and spicy coleslaw as a topping, hence the name firecracker. And after I ordered it, they made my sandwich right in front of me, so I got to see the whole process of making it- it started with the brioche bun, then mayo spread, pickle slices, a piece of fried chicken breast, and then their firecracker coleslaw. Then they wrapped the whole thing up. One thing I immediately noticed as I got my sandwich was it came to me cold, despite the item being listed under 'Hot Sandwich' on their menu board, so that was to me super disappointing. I had put it in my microwave at home for about 25 secs to heat it up before I ate it, which was fine, but that would've been a major inconvenience if I were to eat it outside with no easy access to a microwave. The sandwich itself was actually pretty tasty. The brioche bun was nice and soft, the coleslaw was nice and creamy - but it definitely could've used some kick as the name might suggest; it wanted it spicier. The chicken was just okay - the taste was fine, but the breading was really tough, it was a little unpleasant. Although the overall sandwich wasn't bad, I think at $6 apiece, it seemed like Safeway had a much steep competition from other places that might serve better fried chicken sandwiches at the same or lower prices. I was glad to try it, though, but I hope they'd improve the quality of their Firecracker Chicken Sandwiches - at least toast the buns and use freshly fried chicken breast, I think that would solve the problem. read more

I'm writing a review in hopes there will be improvements since it's such a convenient location for me and they have most everything you need (hence the two stars). I've held back on giving a bad review until today, after a pile up of poor service over the year. I hope someone from Safeway is reading this. My issues are: -I went to customer service once to correct an overcharge and was given a bad attitude -when I need help at the self check out line, it's takes forever and they are generally not friendly, as if it's such a burden for them to help me -I use the self check out lane bc the regular lines are always super long -the final straw, I received poor customer service in the bakery dept. I usually get Costco or Whole Foods cakes but heard good things about Safeway cakes but the bakery person answered my questions as if she was bothered by my questions and at the end when I asked for a direct number to call when I'm ready to order the cake, she said, "you can google it." -other small annoyances that I forgot I had maybe 2-3 good encounters in the last 4 years (props to the meat and produce depts) I've been frequenting this store. But the negative experiences deter me from returning (darn that Red Box that's so convenient and their yummy breakfast burritos). As a mom of 2, shopping already has its challenges so having a pleasant environment to go to makes a difference in my day. Bummer since Safeway is so close. Please make some changes!! read more

As an instructor at Camp Parks sometimes I don't get to eat at the dining facility. My cooking skills are not so good. I like when food is prepped. I have a little fear of cooking food. like cuting or buring myself. That why go to the chow hall or eat at a restaurant it's all cooked, I don't like to have to make any decisions. Now since grocery its cheapest i figured let me try it. i almost ran out of your store until... Here comes an angel to help named Arisbey. She took time to show an assortment of pre cut fruits even got me into yogurt. Yes, i never eat just yogurt but i must admit. My fear was all gone she helped me select smart and healthy. after this deployment i will return to Camp Parks knowing that i will have that one person that will help me with my grocery shopping. I'm disappointed to find out the large Super Food Kale salad I bought earlier today is no good!! The moment I opened the plastic clear lid I smelled the salad was not fresh the way I'm used to smelling/tasting. Even the baby tomatoes didn't taste like tomatoes. So gross!! To avoid possible food poisoning I won't finish it. The deli supposedly made and packed the Super Food Kale salad on February 25th which is today expiring on February 28th, but don't bother buying and if you do request for a refund. So unimpressive that I immediately started looking for other grocery stores/markets after my first time here. I moved out here 5 months or so ago and thought this may be an easy spot to get some essentials given its only a couple minutes from me. It's moderately convenient, but I'd choose inconvenience or paying a few pennies more to go elsewhere. It just generally feels dated. The type of place my grandparents would shop in. The nice thing is there is plenty of parking. Easy to get in and out. Most markets/stores have the same general products, so I put a lot of emphasis on the quality of produce. The produce section is ok at best. I have found that I can actually buy most of my vegetables/fruits organic at Whole Foods for about the same price. Plus the quality there well supercedes here. They have a normal grocery store selection of everything else. I will say they have a nice selection of alcohol. Better than the normal grocery store IMO. The staff is ok. They seem to be often just slightly understaffed. I find myself awkwardly packing my own bags everytime I'm here. Overall, no real reason for me to come. This is an extra large Safeway, pretty new, pretty clean, with a few extras. It has what most Safeways have since they went through their huge remodel years ago, to go upscale with prices and store design, but offer loyalty discounts with that Red Safeway Card, but seem high end and offer more O brand Organics to stave off Whole Foods. That is, a Bakery, Deli, Seafood counter, Starbucks inside, fFower/gift area, and spotlighted bins of Produce. This one has a bigger than most seating area by Starbucks, with perhaps 8 tables, and free WiFi. So you can sit here for days, job hunt on-line, and never go hungry from a lack of food in the fridge, or run out of coffee. Except for the nearness of more Yuppies, Gen X and Y singles, and more green aproned Barristas and a larger coffee-cup-while-you-drive selection that you find in Starbucks, there is nothing any Starbucks has over this Safeway. Well, except little candy colored swirled drop lamps and a patio. The extras are: 1. A Sanger Deli - No, not farm products from that little Central Valley town of Sanger. I am using the Aussie term for Sammich (well, some Aussies, not all). Yes, many Safeways now have these Delis, but this one has two LCD Kiosks where you can order your sandwich with screen taps, pay, then while you shop, come back to get your sammich! (Well, you could walk 6 feet forward and just order it from a real person at the Sandwich Deli counter, too!) . 2. Barcodes-R-Us - There are 4 stations for your self checking pleasure. (Uh, be discreet on that self-checking, there are children present!) Many Safeways have these now, too, but not all. They don't get paid Union wages, so expect more to come. 3. The Incredible Bulk - Not to be out bulked by Whole Foods, there is a little Bulk Foods "Lite" here in this Safeway. Are they Nuts? Yes, actually, the main thing in this bulk food area are nuts, all kinds of nuts. No bulk molasses, rolled oats, wheat germ, and sorghum, just nuts. 4. Sushiway - There is Safeway, Subway, even Shabuway, why not Sushiway? Actually, many Safeways now have a little Asian person, usually not Japanese, making little sushi-to-go trays for your take-away pleasure. I actually got one of these here, because it was 11am and the Japanese place 4 doors down wasn't going to open for 30 minutes, and I couldn't hang around. It was actually decent for Sushiway. 3 slices of Maguro sashimi and 3 slices of Sake (salmon) sashimi, actually sliced closer to real Sashimi cuts rather than the usually Sushiway Poke butchered bits and pieces, and a little Maguro/Avocado maki (roll) cut into 10 pieces, with ginger, wasabi and 2 packets of shoyu for....... wait for it...............$10.89! And I could tell by looking at the fish that the little Asian guy had just put that together this morning, not 2 days ago like most Sushiways, er, uh Safeways! read more

Poor customer service. Second time I shopped at Safeway this week. First time was at self check out. A customer hogged a checkout station and left to do more shopping. Checker was rude to me and told me to watch out for someone else's stuff on that station. I just waited and checked out this time. I was in a hurry. But I had all the items on my list and I was ready to pay. Second time today. 11am and they had 1 lane open for checkout. Again, everything was on hold for a customer who wasn't done shopping. If this is how things are run around here then Safeway will be my last resort for groceries. Why stress over this while Target, Walmart grocery store, 99 ranch, and Trader Joe's are right down the street. Really. One star was earned by their baggers. I was under the impression I had already reviewed this Safeway, but apparently not. This is a pretty classy Safeway (in comparison to the ones I've been to, anyway), it's located right off 580 for all your grocery needs. This one is kind of out of the way for me, but when you're on your way to the city and need to stock up on picnic supplies, this is where I go. Super clean, very quick check-outs, and a convenient little Starbucks to jump-start the day. Like any Safeway, they have their select sales going on. This is also near Emerald Glen Park, so my friends and I always come here for donuts after frolicking around in the park for exercise... Calories burned, only to be reintroduced into the body in a sweet, sugary, circular form. The donuts are bliss, and are cheap. I regret nothing. read more

We came here twice when where were in Dublin for a visit. Once for getting some cookies and the second time to fill up on car fare food for the road back home. Both times there was a lack of assistance here, but that is typical now at most Safeway's and is come to be expected. Both times we just when in and quickly got what we needed and left. One thing I would say that this store does lack checkers and expect to wait in line if even somewhat busy. read more

On June 16, 2019, Sunday at around 3PM, store manager lady with black glasses on at this Safeway store did not know the concept of mobile payment systems such as Apple pay or Google pay that generates virtual card numbers which is different than the actual credit card numbers so she refused to give me a refund for an item I returned back to my account on my phone and she ended up issueing me a store credit card instead. She asked another lady manager standing next to her but she also didn't know anything either. To Safeway, if you are accepting mobile payments, please educate at least your store managers first so they know how it's supposed to work so your customers don't have to explain and educate them for you instead. I went to the Safeway in Dublin and needed to grab a few items for a birthday party. I was hoping to run in and run out and thought I knew what I was looking for. Midway through shopping I realized I needed to get a little creative because the guest of honor is a dear friend. I found the nearest employee and asked for some help. Midway through my search for random food this lady who worked there named Lexi was super helpful, but we were constantly interrupted by other customers, and some Safeway people too. This Safeway is in a good location--too good, in fact. It's difficult to find a parking place. My buddy and I were headed to San Fran and were in need of soda or juice and thankfully, this store was here. I just happened to go to an aisle where I could see UCC Green Tea, which is something I normally buy at Japanese stores. They had a number of other selections, such as Bolthouse Multi-V Goodness but they were scattered quite a bit for our purposes of the moment. Let me start with one good thing: their potato wedges are really awesome here. And on to the meat--literally. I bought two ribeye steaks from the butcher department. Looked fresh but holy wow. Not fresh at all. Cooked different from all the other ribeyes I've prepared--they cooked all the way through VERY quickly and were basically well-done looking when normally I would have expected it to be medium. We dug in nonetheless, but noticed it had a liver taste and texture (so weird when you SEE ribeye but it tastes like liver...), and both my wife and I --despite it being cooked all the way through--got terribly sick. 1-star based on how bad the flowers have been lately. I purchase flowers every Saturday & have noticed that recently the quality of flowers has got so low. Last week, I purchased two sets of Ranunculus & when I got them home, half collapsed & were already dead. This was even after I sorted through the options to find the best looking ones. This Saturday I picked up 2 sets of 5-stem Peony's - 1 head was bad, but l picked the best of the bunch. Attached is a picture those Peony's today. The roses that you see next to them are from Livermore, that same Saturday after the Ranunculus collapsed. Super disappointed & won't be coming back here for flowers ever again as I can't justify throwing money away. I'm paying a decent premium for these flowers ($12 here vs $8 at TJ's) so I'd expect them to last more than a day. read more

She literally said "what do you want" as she approached me while I was waiting to find out if someone could wrap flowers. Then said she can't do anything. She has an extremely bad attitude, lacks any customer service skills, and is a very unhappy person that clearly hates her job.
