Went for cheap chicken Monday, got fried chicken and 1/2 lbs potato salad, was supposed to be $5.99 for 8 pc, Charged me $9.99 ,and dished up 1 lb. of potato salad, what should have cost me $8.49 , was charged $14.98 , so we got fucked, and Safeway wins again! This pharmacy was exsalent afew years ago. Now not so much. I wanted them to Mail my prescription to me but I waited 2 weeks . I went into the store they hadn't even put my prescription in the to be mailed bucket. They never answer the phone. I've had it with this pharmacy. I am officially tapping out of here. The deli and hot food just need to go away at this point. I truly love the employees. I am not sure if they just dont understand how to keep the hot food up to par. The Asian food is always dried out and burnt. A small amount of stirring would help during the time it sits. It just always looks so unappetizing, especially compared to other Safeway. The wings, which has always been stellar at other Safeway, always come slightly slimy and not crispy. The sauce is minimal. Then there is the fact that they stop making new food at around 5. That's dinner time for most. Something needs to change and if that means they close for a bit to train and work through the issues it would be great for the community. read more

I've been here several times, usually the service is ok, but they've lost a step lately. Below is one example of what I've seen lately. The staff had a pileup of 5 employees behind the customer service counter and about 20 people checking out on the 2 cashiers (and the self checkout). I asked a question about propane exchange at the customer service counter and they sent me to one of the already overloaded cashiers. The employees behind the customer service counter were obviously not doing anything (not the weekly meeting or anything). Just hanging out and talking. The cashier, who was really cool, told me that propane exchange is usually done at the customer service counter, that she's only done it once before, but that she could help me. She had to ask around and the line got bigger behind me. Not a big deal, thus the 3 stars, but pretty embarrassing for this Safeway. The manager needs to step it up and understand how to manage his people. read more

6/29/19 We probably should have looked at these reviews before heading out! Nearly everything we purchased was supposedly on sale. When we got to the checkout, the employee asked for our rewards card. We don't have one because we're on vacation and don't live near a Safeway. My husband thought he had signed up for one in the past so he offered three phone numbers and the kid said none of them worked. Instead of scanning a generic card so we could still take advantage of the sale prices, he told my husband (after being asked) that we'd have to go to the service counter to sign up for the program. This was, of course, about 80% into our items being scanned. He just looked bored and then annoyed that we asked him questions. The service was non-existent; he clearly just didn't care at all and it showed. read more

Yet another surly performance from a Cheney Safeway employee. Isn't it the job of the cashier to greet the customer and at the very least say "hello"? I am so tired of the indifference shown here by so many of the young employees. Time for some re-training of basic customer service. Wow this Safeway continues to outdo itself in poor customer service This time my wife and I went thru the check stand while the checker and the "person in charge" their term not mine engaged in a full conversation while never once greeting us or even acknowledging our presence!! Plus the whole time the person in charge was in my way and not putting our bagged groceries in our cart, finally their conversation was over and she just walked away!! Well I guess it's difficult to rate this grocery store as it's the primary or "best" place to shop in town, which really means that there aren't that many other options. Nevertheless, they have the usual selection and of course a Starbucks in the store. The employees are helpful and nice as well. read more

During a time where nearly everyone on the planet has every right to frown and be a grinch 24/7 and it would be understandable, the pharmacy ladies made my day today! Surprisingly NOT because the had my meds on time, but because they smiled. Even with a mask, I could see it in their eyes. Hard to feel happy when you don't even get to see people smile, but they were happy to be there and that made me want to pass on the happiness. read more

I am tired of waiting 10 minutes to be greeted at the deli. They have the WORST customer service I have ever seen. When you get to the front to check out be prepared to wait again as there will not be enough lanes open to handle the customer flow. The sad part is, the management doesn't seem to care. To be fair many of the checkers are very nice and do a good job. They just can't make up for the incompetence of the rest. read more

I have had several fried foods here and it all tastes like fish. Please tell me you trained these employees to cook fish and other meats in separate fryers. The worst was the tortilla chips, it tasted like week old fish grease, if you can imagine that, gross! read more

I've always had an average experience here but my most recent visit is the reason I'm writing this review. The disrespect from their young cashiers is astonishing. I had a cashier with brown hair and braids and she and her bagger treated me so horribly. I purchased a donut that was in its bag and she scanned it and threw it so the other side. She threw my food so hard than my donut flew out of the bag and the bagger boy quickly grabbed it while laughing. He told the cashier that she had made my donut fall out (all while I'm watching) and she blankly looked at me and said "you can get a new one if you want". I was pissed and told her it was the last one (because it was) and all she said was "oh". The bagger boy said it didn't fall out of the bag (lied to me) and I was clearly angry and said "yes it did. I literally just saw it" and they both giggled and didn't say anything. Didn't offer me a return of my money, nothing! Worst employees ever. read more

This place is pretty good. It's clean and organized. Just like any typical Safeway. My only complaint is that the lines are always long. A lot of college kids just buying a few items and there are never enough cashiers. read more

Typical early evening (6) at cheney safeway. Barely any food in deli (safeway seems to think dinner rush is at four!!) 5 people in deli line and one deli clerk. One express checker and one regular with over 25 people in the lines. Wander store for 40 min waiting for lines to go down or more checkers to be called up but no such luck. Finally abandon my full cart, grab 3 necessities and get in express line where i am 8th in line. 6:45pm and now 14 people in line, another checker is finally called to open a second express. I live right across the street from this store and avoid it like the plague. Most of the time I feel fine walking in and purchasing some groceries, but for some reason, the employee Jon has made some of us fearful to enter the doors. We have left multiple negative reviews through the Safeway website and nothing has been done. From snapping in people's ears to get their attention, to simply making rude remarks while bagging the items. My roommates and I needed to split a $90 total between the threes of us simce we are poor and he rolled his eyes and just goes "I guess" This store needs to take initiative with its employees. read more
