I don't typically review grocery stores, because I don't usually have anything fantastic or tragic happen. But, I guess I have something to talk about now. I've been to this particular Safeway many times, but a couple months ago when my fiance was sick I happened to ask the pharmacist for any recommendations, she gladly helped me. I went back again tonight with a case of an ear ache, hoping she was working, and she was, and again, she was more than happy to help me find what I was looking for. She also gave me some advice (nothing that would need a neurosurgeon referral or anything) she suggested a warm wet rag, blah blah blah. Anyway, she was very helpful, more than any grocery store or Walgreen's pharmacist I've ever encountered, so I wanted to give her a Yelp hi-five. Oh and I scored a decent bottle of wine for less than five bucks. Yay. read more

This location is a "neighborhood store" and so it's a bit more expensive. But is doable, although there is a bougier Sprouts location not far away. But this is close. And it's more of a mid level grocery store with all the variety and annoyances. But I am surprised it's not just a bit more upscale, or at least updated, given the area. Probably the worst Safeway I've ever shopped at. I almost always have to go on a search for a damn basket because they are never where they're suppose to be. It can probably be a little cleaner. I've seen worst. Customer service is subpar. They have a guarantee to have rotisserie chicken which they don't honor at all. You're better off going anywhere else. read more

Wow! What bad cashier service at night stopped in at 7:30 pm to get like 10 items went to check out apparently they have no cashiers at this time as the one cashier was cleaning his register at 7:45 and refused to open told me to use self checkout which I refuse to use anywhere he asked me why and I said because it's his job not mine so he said that's the rudest thing he's ever heard and I was being disrespectful so I asked him to call the closing manager to ring me up he called and the manager said it would be 30 minutes before he could come up I said I guess I'll be calling the district office in the morning he opens up and than sets my items in the wet cleaning stuff he sprayed on the register and says that's why he didn't want to open up mind you he had bags right in front of where he rings up he could've just set my items in the bag than handed them to me! 3 other people came into his line he turned them away I guess customers who don't use the self checkout are an inconvenience to this store. I have shopped at this store in the daytime at least you can get a cashier to ring you up that's why the 2 stars. read more

Safeway - Grocery Near Me - Chandler, Arizona

This is my go-to Safeway since it's very close to my last two homes. I think overall the prices at Safeway are likely higher (I have no scientific proof) but if you use your loyalty card, take advantage of the "Just for U" coupons and offers, and buy things on sale, you can get some pretty good deals. Without coupon clipping. This location is pretty slow most of the time. I mean that in terms of customers in the store, not speed of the cashiers. The guy in the produce department is always super friendly, and everyone else is helpful too. Solid grocery shopping experience. No complaints. I'll be back! read more

Pretty standard for a grocery store, long aisles full of processed foods, sugar, and high-fructose corn syrup. Pro: They do offer a very slim variety of Organic brand foods in some instances, and their frozen food section is especially on par with this, including some lesser known brands throughout the big chain groceries (like Annie's) that cater to those with lactose or gluten intolerances. Also, prices are relatively cheap, but you're sacrificing quality. Con: No paper bag option. It's plastic all the way. The one or two times I shop here for last minute items, I usually bring my own bag because it's kind of ignorant for them to not offer a substitute. read more

The employees at this location are AWESOME! My husband and I have been going here for several years now and there are several employees that have been there as long. They know us by face and preference and always have an upbeat attitude. I have never enjoyed going to a grocery store before going to this one! They always put a smile on my face, even after a long day at work. We will be moving soon, and I am sad that this store will not be nearby anymore! I got the Signature Café Apple and Walnut Salad with Chicken. That salad was definition bomb.com. It even came with a fork!! Everyone knows salads aren't legit unless they're prepackaged with a fork. The chicken was moist, apples were crisp, and they were not stingy with the dressing. Mama likes her dressing. Let's be real...the Safeway Café is the only legit place in Coolidge to eat lunch. Man cannot live on Subway alone. The walnuts were candied....personally I like my nuts raw, but who am I to judge? The ambiance was amazing! I would classify the lighting as "dim mood lighting". Quick check out process and I earned Safeway points to put toward fuel. Every Safeway I have been to I have fallen in love with their breakfast burritos. Every other Safeway I've been to the burritos are made fresh upon request from the customer. I came here this morning and was directed to burritos that were pre-made in the morning. Unfortunately I had special requests and asked for fresh burritos. Jacob went back and grabbed some eggs and sausage from the freezer, completely frozen. He put the burritos together and put them in the oven. I don't think they were in there a minute and he pulled them out. My fault for not checking, but by the time I got home and opened them up they were ice cold, eggs and sausage still frozen. I would think every Safeway would be the same, but apparently upper management needs to come here and do some more training to show consistency amongst all Safeway stores. read more

You have a very politically motivated liberal pharmacist who works at this location and believes it is her ultimate say on what customers of your store can take for off-label purposes or not. She refused to fill my medication today even after I confirmed with my doctor that she prescribed it correctly. Your pharmacist was extremely rude and told me that she doesn't use Google for her dosing guidelines like my doctor must do... Well it isn't your job to tell me what dosages I should be using and for what duration. She also drilled me on what I'm using it for, assuming it's being used off label for covid and that she doesn't agree that it should be used that way. First off you can't make me tell you my medical history and what I'm using a medication for. it isn't your choice, you should have became a doctor if you want to tell people what they can use prescriptions for.. After pressing her for awhile she ultimately told me oh well I don't have any in stock anyways... bullshit, it is a very common medicine and every pharmacy has it. She also would have started off by saying it was out of stock if it were true, instead she got all triggered when I told her it isn't her job to question what I'm using this medication for and that my doctor isn't some an idiot who uses Google to prescribe medications like she told me. We confirmed this is what my doctor ordered so read me my damn warning labels and give me my medicine. I feel sorry for the customers who use this location and have to deal with this pissy woman. CVS had no issues giving me what my doctor ordered and were great and quick. read more

No idea why I'm writing a review for a grocery store. I'm bored I suppose. The prices here are pretty terrible unless the item you're buying is on sale. The only reason I shop at this location is because of the cashier staff and the distance. The management is okay for the most part but there's one older gentleman of southwest asian descent that is pretty rude to every customer. I'm not sure if he's a manager or a bagger, or just a customer service dude. I've been going there for two years when I don't feel like driving to Fry's for groceries and haven't ever had a problem. The cashiers are friendly and after watching me forget to do so time and time again, remind me to buy ice. The Starbucks inside is the bane of my money's existence. read more

I've known Safeway to always have higher prices so I really didn't shop there. However this is my nearest grocery store now so I find myself there a lot. I have to say, I've been pleasantly surprised! The prices, while not as good as other competitors always, has done the job. They typically have what I came for with a few exceptions. Watch what you buy here. I have been coming across expired food since last year. Yes I have spoke to the manager 3X about it, no one cares.

Always have expired food on shelfs. Unfriendly US Bank staff and the Starbucks in there have no idea what they are doing. Do not know how to scan your Starbucks card to use stars and have such a hard time modifying drink orders. Always dirty tables, table space and employees will sneeze, cash people out on registers, and not wash hands. read more

This Safeway is less than 1 mile from my house and I refuse to go here anymore due to the poor customer service my husband and I received. We used coupons in combination with some sales for great deals, but did not receive the advertised price on our receipt. We went to customer service to have everything adjusted to the correct amount, but they refused to honor the advertised price marked on the shelf. We asked to speak to a manager and then the manager shouted at my husband that since we already got a good deal with coupons we didn't need the sale price. Safeway's coupon policy states that store sales/coupons may be combined with manufacturers coupons. After arguing with my husband he finally refunded our money when another customer came with the same issues and we showed him the store's policy we printed from the internet. Even if a customer misunderstands a promotions(which we had not), it is never acceptable to get into a shouting match with a customer, especially if you are the manager. Couponers beware! read more

I live close by and shop here often. Safeway is expensive, but I can overlook that factor for the convenience. The staff is friendly. They have a decent selection of products, and the produce is usually good though at times the meat section can be lacking. They do have a good beer and wine selection. The bakery and deli are also reasonably stocked and I like the grab and go single serving options they offer, however I was recently put off by the condition of the deli, it was pretty dirty. I really like that they have a Starbucks in the store. The line is usually pretty short during the morning rush at other locations. read more

Today I went to the bakery to pick up an already made cake for my sisters 18th birthday. When we told the lady what we wanted, she showed us a paper to verify name spelling, the paper read "happy birthay Alyssa" we corrected the left out D and she rolled her eyes. When we received the cake we were mortified. I will post a picture as well, with cake in hand we set out to find help, we could not find any available sales associates. This Safeway has a US Bank and a Starbucks inside. It's also very clean. A nice grocery store one might say. But, there have been times when I was looking for a package of herbs and they didn't have a very good selection. The wine selection is paltry for a store of this size. There is a nice bakery towards the back of the store and they do have a nice selection of prepared foods to the left as you come in the doors. The checkers have always been very pleasant here as well. read more

After leaving Home Depot I stopped by for one item, a green (bell) pepper. Guess how much it (yes, just one) cost? $1.50!! I'm a sucker for convenience which is why I was at Safeway to begin with, but to pay a buck-fifty for a pepper knowing at least half would become garbage..I just couldn't do it! I don't dislike this store, but sometimes you have to draw the line. My line looked like a green pepper. read more

I wanted to reach out and inform you of what an amazing experience I had at your Chandler Blvd. location this past week. My family is visiting me from NY this week as my father is turning 60. We as a family took him out all day and did things he enjoys such as fishing, hiking, antiquing and eating quite a bit! I asked him what he would like for dinner and he said RIBEYE...By this time it was around 4:30pm and I of course went to my local Fry's where I always get a customer cut ribeye about 3 inches thick to grill and roast. By the time I went to fry's their butcher had gone home for the evening. Frustrated by this I went to my second usual place which is Basha's. I called on the phone and was assured that their butcher would be there till 7 and they would be able to cut anything I needed. I drove the 10 mins down the block parents in tow and when I got there I was informed that they too had just sent home their butcher. I was obviously furious because I was just told that he would be there and now I was in serious jeopardy of disappointing my dad on a big birthday. Lastly, I thought of Safeway which was right across the street... Your butcher Daniel answered the phone and informed me that he had just taken apart his machine and was cleaning up for the day but could get me one first thing the next morning. After I explained the situation to him and asked him if he could please make this happen for my father, he of course said yes. I couldn't have drove there faster, with a huge smile on my face I walk to the back of the store where I see Daniel already portioning out my requested cut making it look beautiful as can be. He wrapped it up and came out to shake my hand and wished my father and my family a very happy birthday. I could have cried...Not only did he put together his machine which was cleaned and sanitized, but he did it to make another persons day that much better. I myself work in Retail and have done so for over 12 years. I pride myself in offering unbelievably customer service and often am upset that others don't go the extra mile I would for my customers. Daniel 100% exceeded my expectations and created a lifetime promoter of the Safeway brand. I will not go anywhere else for my groceries and butcher needs from now on all because of such a simple act of kindness. I hope this gets to him as I lost my receipt with my survey link on it...I will also post to Yelp and to your Facebook page as well in hopes this gets back to him and he can fully understand what it meant to me that day. Great service ! After 7pm, and they sold out of their signature chunky chicken noodle soup. But the deli rep warmed up a small batch for us. Safeway has the best ready-made chicken noodle soup ! Chunky, yummy and just the right consistency and great service with a smile. The kale super salad was fabulous too ! Add a rotisserie chicken (or KFC :-) and voila a balanced meal. read more

I love going to this Safeway with my kid in the evening. What grocery store can you walk into at 6pm and not have to worry about it being busy :P Unfortunately I have to pay the price for the convenient and chill shopping experience. Frys and Walmart have much lower prices on most things but are not nearly as comfortable to shop in as Safeway. They have a Starbucks too and most of the baristas can make a good drink but for as slow as they are you would think that place would be a lot more clean. read more

I wouldn't normally take the time to review a grocery store but I feel the need to because this one really goes above and beyond in terms of customer service. The cashiers there are always friendly...they actually make eye contact and TALK to you (imagine that!) And every time I have a cart full of groceries they have always asked if I needed help loading into the car. I always decline, but it's a nice gesture. Colin at the deli is great!! It seems like each time I'm there it happens to be after the deli has closed and he doesn't mind rewashing the equipment to get me what I need (have to remember to get there earlier!) Better prices would put this store at 5 stars! read more

This is probably the Worst Grocery store in AZ. Today ( like everyday ) I went in and bought my groceries. As I was walking out , I hear Stop Woman Stop. I kept walking , because why would any one be yelling at me ? Until a man in the parking lot said ..I think he's yelling at you. What ? I turn around and this man Jay is pulling on my cart telling me " you took this " repeatedly. I responded what are you talking about ? He then pulls me and my cart inside ..it was then that he demanded my receipt. When I was asking why he was pulling on me , he just kept saying ..you took I know you took. I was so mad embarrassed and felt so Deming by thus man. When I asked for the mtg William all he could say is ...ppl are walking a out without paying. I stood in line for over 4 minutes ( they never have enough checkers ) I am in there almost every day . and you are going to physically attack and accuse me ...? Really ? I will rake my bissiness to Bashas. They are over priced and have the worst customer service. Just close Safeway !!! read more

been always a place of convenience for me to go and shop here since its close from where I live,love the people who works here, but tonight this one guy in the deli department needs to get more training when it comes to customer service, was going to buy bake chicken, chickens are still there in the warmer, I politely ask if his still open, and this guy just mockingly looks at me and said, we are close, and just like that, just ignored as if I wasn't there anymore, totally disappointed since he could just easily serve me those baked chicken since its still there, wont even take a minute to do it, hopefully management will try to do something about it, after all his working in a customer oriented company safeway. read more
