While I used to frequent Fry's and Albertsons, I have found that Safeway has had some better promotions over the last few years. While this location is not one of my regular Safeway stops, I have passed it on the way to work-related functions at a nearby hotel. I went there yesterday when picking up out-of-town guests from the airport for a work meeting. We stopped by to pick up some water or other beverages, along with snacks, for three days of work meetings. I haven't needed to use the customer service team yet, though there are plenty of staff members available should I need anything. There is also plenty of parking nearby to make it easy to park, head inside to pick up items, and then take off by using a self-checkout counter or an aisle with a staff member working as a cashier. I recall visiting Safeway, and Albertsons had their annual Monopoly game way back when, and then the Flavor Adventure through the app a few years ago, too. While I haven't used the curbside pickup at this location, I know it is offered here. I do have a membership for FreshPass (which I got this past year at the 50% off promotion). There are great sales from the weekly doorbuster sales to daily promotions to Friday or weekend promotions to general sales prices. For approximately $99 per year (or the occasional $49 promotional price), you can sign up for FreshPass, which includes unlimited free delivery on orders over $30, $5 monthly credit for annual subscribers, earn 2X points on our exclusive brands, save 5% on O Organics, Open Nature, or Signature Pet Care, points don't expire, a VIP phone line, and monthly exclusive Starbucks perks. I really appreciate the $5 monthly credit and the Starbucks perks (to buy a grande-sized drink for only $2 every month). Between those two alone, you more than make back what you spend on the program. Even if you don't join the program, you can earn points for every purchase to redeem for free items, store discounts, or gas discounts, plus extra points during your birthday month. While there are certainly things that this store can do better in the future to meet customers' needs, they have already done so much to get there. For instance, when there are great promotions for a weekly doorbuster, they often still have the items in stock while other nearby stores no longer do (like $0.97 per pound chicken breast). Disappointed! Two weeks ago I stopped at this Safeway to pick up some wings from the wing bar. Safeway has had a wing bar for a long time and never has disappointed. This day the wing bar was empty and not yet ready for the lunch crowd. I asked the nice young man behind the counter he said he and the deli manager were new and apologized for not having ready. In the past the wing bar was always ready at 11:00 daily. So, I went back today to once again get some wings from the wing bar and again the wing bar was empty and not ready. I asked the same young man behind the counter and once again he said the manger was new and apologized. Not his fault because apparently he was alone this time, at least I didn't see anyone else behind the counter just him. read more

First time at this Safeway!! Quick stop in for Happy Boss's Day gift. Lisa in the flower shop was extremely nice! I asked "what kind of flower can I gift someone if I don't know what they like?" She said yellow and showed me the flowered that were in my price range! It wasn't bad at all, I got the vase, they had Happy Boss's Day cards which were cute to add on with the clip. Thank you for being Awesome Lisa!! I did not get any food this time however I live Safeway wings and deli area! Store was clean and located in a good busy area next to a Home Depot. I will return to this location! Especially since I felt safe. After I paid I asked if she could help me cut the flowers - to not charge me she taught me the right way to arrange flowers in a vase. It was fun learning from a professional! She made the experience fun and you could tell she is passionate about her arrangements. read more

I had a terrible experience while at chevk out this morning. First let me say that I saw several employees throughout the store who were pleasant and seemed to enjoy their jobs. However, the lady at check out was not interested in helping customers. She actually did not say anything to me...no greeting, did not tell me the total cost, just handed my receipts to me, and did not tell me thanks for ciming, etc. She talked to a lady who I think works at the store but was shopping on her day off. The employee talked about a man who does not work there anymore and she told the lady what days and hours she was working. Total disregard to her customers. She had difficulty checking out the groceries of the person in front me because she was not focused. What a surprising but negative experience at Safeway this morning. read more

We were celebrating a birthday and were in need of some last minute items. This location was easy to find and access. Store is pretty large, clean and organized. There is of course a Starbucks inside which seems to be the norm these days. We used self check out and had a good interaction with a friendly employee. Nothing much else to say. read more

For the past two weeks now the checkout stands have either been completely out of grocery bags or they are in limited supply. How in the heck do you operate a grocery store with no grocery bags for customers??? We have lived in Chandler now for three years and have been going to this location since we moved. Every single time I have entered the store I have had a fantastic experience. Anytime I have had a bad experience which was honestly about once, I've addressed the issue with manager and they fixed it immediately. Customer service is phenomenal here. I am extremely impressed with Samaria in the bakery, she makes high-quality items and you would never guess that they came from Safeway!! She is so kind and great with customers, every time I have ordered with her she has exceeded my expectations! I will be back for years to come. read more

I have never been to a Safeway with such bad customer service. Granted it's the holidays, and I will show some compassion when it's busy and people just want to be home. However, I was pushed over the edge when I was helped by Rebecca at the customer service counter. She seemed completely mad as to the fact that she had to help me, and almost that I was an inconvenience to her. When I asked for a pen to fill out a western union she literally just threw it down on the counter in front whilst not making eye contact, and when my western union wasn't working right she spoke to me as if I was 5 years old and I'm dumb for not knowing how the western union worked. Sad I have been a Safeway/Vons shopper for countless years but this one was by far the worst. read more

YOURE BETTER OFF GOING TO THE FRYS ON DOBSON AND ELLIOTT. This store has a lot of issues. The worst is the self cashier section, the machines constantly breakdown. And the girls that usually are there are ALWAYS on their phone and if god forbid you need help and have to flag them down cause they can't bother to watch for problems. They act like you are bothering them. I mean I'm sorry you are at WORK I'm sorry your instagram and text messaging is inconveniencing YOUR JOB. I went to the deli and again one lady helped me and literally one guy helped another 2 customers with twice as much orders than me. And they got out quicker. I don't seem to have issues with the men they seem to work well but the women are definitely tired. The Fry's is literally at the same distance than the Safeway and it's no wonder this Safeway is never busy. I will just go to the fry's from now on. read more

06/03/2023 Worst pharmacy ever!!! Went here to get medication for an infection through goodrx I've never had an issue before, and I just moved out here and the pharmacist was yelling at me and I told her to lose the attitude and she didn't even want to be there (just completely lazy, should not be a pharmacist). She was snapping at the nice old couple in front of me too (that was red flag #2 after her attitude with me over the phone in the morning).... And SHES THE ONE IN CHARGE OF TRAINING !!!! Kept saying she needs to contact the doctor when I didn't have a doctor, and said she needed an ID, over the phone told me it can be a photo, and an address of me living in chandler... I then called goodrx and they said I didn't need any of that information.... And they transferred my medication. 06/04/2023 The pharmacy goodrx was transferring my medication but this Safeway pharmacist wouldn't transfer it so I had to redo the whole process to get my prescription and got it through cvs that gave me no trouble! I feel bad for anyone who gets their medication from here this can seriously be a danger to so many people read more

I'm seriously disgusted by walking into this store and noticing a "rat/mouse" poisoning box, literally right outside of this door. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing!! I'm concerned about my health as well as others, since I often shop at this location as well as, I purchase my morning coffee from the starbucks inside of this store, at least 2-6 times a month! I moved my concerns to other employees inside of the store who also found it to be disgusting and started that they would inform the manager in which I could never get ahold of. I mainly am reviewing this location for their florist department. BEAUTIFUL fresh arrangements and so many options from Lillys to bright pink roses! On Tuesday 10/24 around 8:30 am I made my usual stop at the Starbucks and as I walked up to the register the employee ( the manager) Sylvia D. Did not greet me as she was on her phone and simultaneously looking down at some documents which looked like a schedule. I waited a few seconds and advised her I had to get on my way to work and all wanted was a banana bread. I asked where was the employee who usually there, Silvia said she gave her the day off and stated" I am the Manager" I exchanged words to her about the service she rudely asked if I wanted it heated up. I acknowledged how impolite she was being towards me and it is hard to believe she was the manager. She said I am trying not to be rude to you so do want the bread heated or not. I quickly refused to continue with the transaction and she shrugged her shoulders stating I don't have give you any money back your transaction hasn't happened. In my opinion, employees should be mindful of customers patronizing any business and Starbucks/safeway are reputable companies and should not staff managers that has no respect for customers. read more

This location is terrible. Almost every time I ask for help with the location of a product, they can't tell me where it is at. So i end up wandering around and looking for it by myself. I usually only buy a few things at a time, and they are always out of at least one of the items. I shop in the evenings which apparently doesn't work well for this location. Step it up guys, the service that safeway is supposed to offer makes up for the higher costs than your local competition. read more

It's the 3rd closest grocery store to our house. But we like it. And frequent it often. They still have staff that collect and wipe down the carts after every use. You will never walk in and not find a freshly sanitized cart. There staff smile (even under masks. You can tell by their eyes). They greet me every time I walk in. And unlike the general public, they wear those masks correctly, their entire shift. Today, I got to produce just as an apple rolled off the display case. A young employee had been stacking fruit and moved on past this area. He picked the apple up, and what did he do with it....he threw it away! This is why I still have faith in this store. Stopped in while my son was waiting in the emergency room at a nearby hospital. Had to use the restroom. They sure needed some attention and probably a little tlc too as things appeared to be falling apart. Looked around for a little bit while I was there. Had a pretty good selection of stuff but prices were a little high. Bought some Cheetos to munch on while waiting on my son. Had to buy 3 in order to get them for 1.97 plus have a Safeway card. If places are going to have a sale, just mark everything at sale prices instead of making people sign up for cards. Hate when places do that. Checked out then saw the lottery machine at end of register so decided I'd get a couple. Never used the machine before and wanted to use cash but after doing my selection it didn't give me the option for cash, so tried my card and it kept asking me if I wanted a duplicate. I'm thinking a duplicate of what? I didn't a duplicate lottery ticket if that's what it meant so I hit cancel and asked for someone to help me. The girl at the end of self checkout said she couldn't help me and had to stay there. Well she should of called someone over to help then. Finally the guy waiting behind me said you could put cash in at the checkout even though it doesn't say you can. Tried that and it worked. People need to stop and help and not brush everyone off. read more

Just staying current with my review. Nothing really has changed. This is a good, clean store. Their regular pricing can be a bit higher, but there are usually plenty of sales and the Just4U program. Meats and produce are pretty good quality in general. read more

It costs a bit more than the WinCo down the street, and the selection is not quite as good for some items, however I keep going back for the service, and mostly because the store is kept clean. What a difference. I mostly get my groceries in the am, and the winco has carts everywhere in the parking lot, they are filthy with food trash in them. Got there on a game day, and the kid was watching the game on his phone while driving a forklift up the aisle. Damn near hit me. Another kid was supposed to be stocking drinks and had stuff strewn so that I couldn't even get to the items I wanted, and was sitting in the aisle on his phone. Safeway never has issues like that. Perfect? No, but a far better customer experience. I stop into winco to get the few things Safeway doesn't have, then I do Safeway for everything else. I'm willing to pay slightly more in order to not be frustrated. Oh, did I mention Safeway does Apple Pay? No luck at WinCo there either. read more

I typically come to this Safeway for deals on meat. They seem to have a good sale cadence on certain beef cuts which I like to use for homemade jerky. I did stop in one year on Thanksgiving to get some flowers and it wasn't too busy. I always find the staff to be welcoming. read more

The prices were so-so. The store was clean. The bakery is hidden in the back left corner behind the alcohol - I just wasn't expecting that, although now that I think about it, it makes sense...most people snack with their drinks, right? The disappointing thing was that we arrived for balloons and flowers, but had to go to customer service and ask for help...but we had to wait several minutes for someone to even show up at customer service and then at least 5 more for someone to show up at floral. Bought a smash cake for my daughter from here. I believe the bakers name was Anaroush (forgive me if I spelt it wrong) she was amazing while ordering. I asked her what I wanted and came to pick the cake up. It was a beautiful cake!!! We were on a budget for my daughters first birthday, the cake was only $5.99 +tax. Ok, after going here for a few months because it's the closest grocery store to me, I have to say, since it seems to be a pretty low volume store (never, ever crowded no matter what time), the produce and meats are not as fresh. Not a whole lot of turnover so sometimes I have accidentally come home with past due produce or moldy raspberries. Sometimes nearly all the raspberry containers in the cooler are very visibly moldy. Have to be more careful than I would normally be at a higher volume store when buying any perishables. Yesterday (11/19) I bought broccolini in a bag, the first one in the front of the cooler, brought it home and it said "Best By: 11/15", for example. No one checked that for 4 days? It's nice to shop here because it's really never crowded but the freshness of produce/meats could be better. There's also pretty good sales on meats because of it, though.
