One of the nicer and more recently renovated locations in the Vancouver area. Staff was friendly. The parking lot has diagonal spacing which was a little annoying, especially with where the entrances and exits are to the main road The selection was so so. Been a customer there for 20 years. The last few interactions have been deeply unpleasant. No added value anymore, no relationship with patients, they do not care. Most of the staff members are always so nice and helpful. MOST! Not all. It seems that nobody has complained about one particular cashier or they only like to go out of their way and butt into my transactions when they aren't a part of them. Let's just go back to Monday, Nov 25th. Did my shopping put in my phone number (I loaded my app before I went to the store, yes I am aware the app is annoying and I SHOULD have scanned it instead) finished. Realized I spent WAY more than I had budgeted for, checked my receipt, and realized two of the weekly deals both the butter and cheese didn't ring up correctly. Well, I make my way back into the store. Take to the lovely lady at customer service whose computer just went down. So she helped me at self-checkout. We get it all fixed. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! My least favorite cashier that I avoid at all costs stepped in and decided to interrogate me. Did you scan your phone? Is your # attached? Well did you ADD those coupons before you came into the store? Like I was a child being scolded and punished. I'm pushing 50. This cashier has repeatedly interfered with my transactions and this was my last straw. I did let her know I didn't appreciate her interjecting and her "help" wasn't appreciated but was instead very rude. Do I want to come back and shop at Safeway? yes! I love the store. I love most the people that work there, and the pharmacy. Will I be back? I don't know I am really considering just transferring my scripts to another pharmacy closer and not making the trip. The failure of the app to work and the rudeness of one employee who is determined to step in and be an absolute monster to both customers and staff alike is just not worth it. I have been a long time shopper at Safeway and am sad to say that this store has greatly declined. The front end service seems to be getting worse by the day. I am not one to complain for having to stand in line and wait a little while to get checked out but when you are seeing cashiers standing at the customer service counter chatting instead of checking people out, something has to be said. When I went to the service counter to ask if another line could be opened, the woman behind the counter, Mercedes, was very rude and unprofessional. She said she would see what could be done but continued to stay behind the counter eating food from the deli. If this is the kind of service that Camas Safeway is going to continue to provide, then I will start taking the short drive to the Washougal Safeway. The only thing that saved this trip from being a total disappointment was the cashier that checked me out. Wendi was very professional, speedy and kind. If it were not for my last interaction with her, this would have been my last trip to this store. Get it together Camas Safeway, hire more professional people to work your front end and start realizing that checkout is the last interactions your customers get when leaving your store and it leaves a lasting impression on the patrons that CHOSE to shop and support your business. Employees standing around and stuffing their faces with food instead of helping paying customers is not a good look for you. read more

I called to make a floral order like I have for many years. I was told by the floral manager that they don't take payment over the phone. I was frustrated and said I've been paying over the phone for years because I'm out of state. She basically called me a liar saying her best friend had been in charge prior to her and that's never been the policy. She was very unprofessional, and even laughed. I asked why and she said she thought the situation was funny. When I called back to speak to another manager to attempt to get my order filled because she wouldn't transfer me nor allow anyone else to help me, he also laughed. I don't understand why my frustration, and tears were funny to either manager and you are suppose to be in charge? I was polite as I could be despite the pain I am in from being sick (just came from the Dr. with a ear and sinus infection) and I will admit I could have handled myself better but ended the phone call crying, and speaking disrespectfully. the safeway app is a crime. i am overcharged MORE than 50% the time. a few years ago i noticed i was overcharged and started keeping track of how often it happened. the next 10 trips to the store i made i was overcharged on 7 pf the trips and usually on more than a single item. i moved most of my shopping over to fred meyer. FM is 15 drive while safeway is 3 minutes. so i still go to safeway if i need a few things quick. i now "total" the purchases on every scanned item so i can see all discounts applied and when they aren't call an attendant over to fix it. i am still overcharged on some item MOST of the time. i'm going to update this once in a while mar 23 - overcharged on 3 out of 7 items. mar 27 - overcharged on 2 out of 2 items. read more

Everything is mediocre, produce, meats, selection etc., but at least the sales made it worth it...not any more. The service is always fantastic....but never enough checkers during rush hours. Just came back from the Safeway - 8pm. Haven't been there in weeks but it's our pharmacy. So there's a man and woman, seemingly able fully grown adults (the lady was in the smaller side) and they did not wear a mask. I confronted them but their limited cognitive abilities occult not grasp the severity of the situation. Apparently the store staff is not allowed to refuse them service nor send them away. I did not hang around long enough to see if they had some phantom medical affliction or if they had some pandemic denial issues. Sadly, this too-small grocery store underserves the current Camas population: the fresh vegetables and fruit are limited in quantity and are almost always wilting or going bad, the organics are overpriced and almost non-existent. The bakery got rid of the whole grain breads and now only features highly processed and sugary bakes. This store comprises mostly canned stuff, sugary stuff, over-salted stuff, and tons of bottled water, viz., this store provides little nutrition, high prices, and mostly features highly processed products. To add insult to injury, the parking lot is small and crowded, and the reserved pick-up spots (which are closest to the store) are almost always empty. They are generous in their handicapped parking (possibly because their clientele can only buy highly processed, sugary, overly-salted products and now suffer from heart disease and diabetes. Good job, Safeway. The staff turnover seems to be high, and while most staff try to be cheerful and friendly, they never seem to work there for longer than a month or so. Wise shoppers will go to the larger Washougal Safeway, which has a fairly decent fresh produce section, or better yet, go to QFC on 192nd, only a few minutes away. I use Camas Safeway only for last-minute items, and am prepared to be disappointed by what is offered. read more

Customers walk in unmasked and unquestioned, vendors wear theirs under their nose (seriously, do you not know how the respiratory system works???), and even the cashiers aren't compliant. Friendly, professional staff and, despite the supply problems caused by Covid-19 and the economic collapse, they do a good job of keeping things in stock and regularly cleaning. Sone more variety in ethnic foods would be great. How about less frozen pizza sections and more Indian, Chinese, Thai, Latin, Japanese, etc.? read more

I needed a Corsage last minute went to a local flower shop to find the least expensive was $25 plus tax. Went up to the Florist at Safeway in Camas and I was helped by a nice young lady. She helped me pick my flowers and set up a time to pick it up the next day. It came out Beautiful and it was $15 including tax. Great Local Florist! read more

I've now purchased several items that have not been fresh including vegetables, fruits, and meats. I just bought some presliced deli meat that was almost a month over it's sell by date. I should not have to check the date to see if an item is ALREADY expired before I buy it. I do all my shopping here because it's so close to my house, but that was the last straw for me. This store is almost always understaffed and I can usually drive an extra 15/20 minutes to another store with better prices and service and get home in the same amount of time. Today I went for my usual one item that I needed and decided it might be worth the extra cost for one item and save hopefully a bit of time. Unfortunately I was shopping for Ginger and all they had was a few old pieces covered in mold. What kind of grocery store doesn't replace its produce that's gone bad. UNDERSTAFFED. Unlike Costco, Chuck's, or Trader Joes, that staff extra checkers during the busy after work shopping hours, this Safeway does not. I avoid shopping here and save time by driving the extra distance to the Safeway on Mill Plain Blvd, if I need something at Safeway that I cannot purchase at a store with better customer service. If I could have chosen "no stars" I would have done so. I absolutely hate having to go to this store, and most people in Camas say the same. Today for example, there were two carts, zero small carts, and zero hand baskets. When I asked the young man who was bringing more large carts in, he said "oh, well you can look at the ends of the check stands if you want a basket". Seriously? Are you kidding me right now? Not my job. The last time I checked, I pay a lot more for my groceries there than most other stores, and if I now have the chore of searching the entire store for a basket? I found zero baskets by the way. And why was this young man not offering to look for this for me (and two other folks who were asking the same). Your manager needs help. read more

I've always had great customer service In the deli here until I was waited on by Kimber. She obviously does not want to be there. She really sets a poor example for the other employees. And yes, some of the diverse cultural cuisine in town is in name only, altho I'm partial to the Camas Thai restaurant, but I digress. I like an occasional roast beef and Swiss cheese on rye sandwich, and Camas Safeway's deli can whip up a doozy for about $5. I especially like the flavor of the roast beef -- I'm thinking that it is marinated and/or aged, and it's tasty. This is a standard sandwich, but it's solid enough to wrap your hands around, and goes great with a bag of chips and fountain soda. The deli staff is friendly and they offer a yummy selection of various meats, salads, and good ol' jo-jo's (french-fried potato wedges) and corndogs. Always something to grab on the go for lunch or dinner. I think they close at 8:00 pm. read more

I really dread going into this store they are always out of stock of the items I want. It is barely the 2nd week in December and they are out of Tom and Jerry Mix. When I asked if they were going to make some more the bakery person said she asked the manager and didn't get an answer. I am giving 5 stars to the Pharmacy Department alone. The entire store is great but really does not stand out. I am disappointed in the meat department but other then that we shop here all the time. There is an older cashier that always ends up being the night time cashier. Stood in line for at least 20+ minutes each time he's on shift. There always seems to be staff walking around the store but he never calls for a back up cashier. Each time I've seen customers behind us leave because this person is incapable of calling for back up. He is by far the slowest cashier, in the evening dinner rush for groceries is the worst place to put him. I would say they need to review the wait time per employee and remake their schedules for different shifts based off of that. Great customer service from all other aspects. Camas has been a white town for so long....not a place for races mixing or changing the eating habits. What we thought of as Chinese food would make others laugh....until we actually leave the area and taste and see for ourselves. That doesn't make this store's effort less though. They supply the populace in Camas with what they want and buy. They do a very good job of it. When I come "home" to visit, I know I can buy things at Safeway - Camas that I cannot always find where I live. The things I really love about this Safeway is the help and care they give every day to their citizens. I KNOW! My Mom was helped in so many ways when she had a hard time making it as a "little old lady" needing assistance. Her friends were also treated with dignity and respect, and given a little extra service without being charged or made to feel their age. When this Safeway opened, the slogan was "Since we're neighbors, let's be friends." It sure continues to live up to that even now, over 30 years later. When I go to visit my Mom's grave, I always stop by Safeway for some nice, affordable flowers. I know she would rather have them from her yard, just a few blocks up the street, but the house isn't the same. Instead I am sure she is smiling at her Safeway flowers and all the kindnesses they showed us while we lived in Camas. This is a friendly and good place to shop! read more

LOYAL CUSTOMER. for over 5 years. Usually no issues but ownership take note. Waited in line to order 2 small balloons which the cashier looked at the manager (who happened to be in front of me buying something) and he said to her "call someone else", going on break. So the call is made over the intercom and a young lady appears near the Floral Dept. but once she see's that I want balloons she turns away and mentions "wait a minute" she obviously hasn't been trained to use the helium tank and she takes off looking for someone else to blow up 2 balloons. I'm waiting as the call goes out for Mr. Manager, no response, waiting...................no response, waaaaiting........, so I say heck with it and as I'm waiting to purchase 1 other item back at the check out counter another call goes out for "Help in the Floral Dept." and again no response.......so I check out and tell them to cancel the order. As I'm driving out low and behold there he is smoking just outside of the Pharmacy door. Hmmmmm.....maybe that's why I got no response from anyone...hmmmm..... This morning you had very POOR customer service and as a side note to all, please train your employees. Everyone should be trained to the point of being comfortable blowing up balloons. The cashier should not have to call 911 or lie to me that "it's hard to find someone to blow up balloons", just to find a manager or someone who knows how to use the Helium tank. I will be back but it's frustrating when people pass the buck and are not held accountable when customer service should be their #1 priority. read more

The gas station here is FRUSTRATING!! I have an old Safeway card and the magnetic strip hasn't worked for YEARS....there are barcode scanners on the pump that used to work. Every time I come, it seems more and more of them no longer work. This time I tried 4 pumps....all were broken!! I've gone into the shack before to complain and see if they can do anything (a huge inconvenience when all I want to do is use my fuel points)....no help there. Deterrent for coming to this Safeway store for me as that is part of the draw here. Quit making it so difficult to use my points and fix the barcode scanners on the pumps!! read more

I usually like Safeway stores in Vancouver, but with this one in Camas I had my worst experience ever. The "manager" of the money orders service is a rude person. My friend has lost her money order stub, and was treated like a street bum when she asked how she could get a refund. The USPS does keep a list for 90-120 days for money orders, but apparently, Safeway does not. When I called Safeway and asked to talk to that same manager, he was rude from the beginning, and kept asking "what is your question" when I asked if Safeway had money orders services, and then if I could get a refund for a lost stub. I don't know about the other services there, but definitely, I would never recommend the money services there, both due to the "manager" there, and to the limited service provided, compared to the US Postal Service. read more

Camas Safeway and the general Camas downtown have become a place with open minds and hearts to people of all colors. What was once a town of narrow minds and old ways has been reinvented by the younger generation. We welcome everyone to shop, eat, move here. We are eager to work for new business in our town. Our children are learning the newest robotics available, and getting some of the best grades in the state of Washington in math, science, ect. This area could easily provide 250 graduating seniors a year who would make great part-time and full-time workers. So come visist Camas Washington and experience the joy of good food and friendly town's people. P.S. If you shop at this Safeway, review your receipt VERY carefully! I shop there fairly frequently because they are the only grocery store that is close to my house and, unless I want to spend four bucks on gas, I have to shop there. Every year I wish that a new grocery chain would open nearby, but alas! Anyway, I am a very frugal shopper and I have to be because we are a single income family. I always check my receipts because money is tight. I would say that MOST times I shop at this Safeway, I get overcharged in some way. Today, I was overcharged $6!! Now that may not be much to some people, but it is a lot to me. Also, when I get overcharged at this store, I have learned that I am completely wasting my time to visit the customer service desk. No one is ever there and, if they are, it was pure luck on my part. I have stood there for 15 min. before because all the registers had long lines, but it is faster to just get back in line. Today, the customer ahead of me was overcharged and she noticed it while it was being rung up. Well, the cashier ringing her up was the ONLY open cashier and it was 10AM!! Anyway, the cashier proceeded to leave her post and go try to find the item on the store shelf. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have worked many jobs in the customer service realm and I have seen many bad mistakes at this Safeway. One time, I forgot to check my receipt and drove all the way home, only to discover that I was overcharged $5! I was fuming! I went back down there and they tried to make me out to be at fault! They did finally give me the refund, but come on!!! Sometimes this Safeway has some really good deals and they lure me in. I just have to be really careful about checking my receipt EVERY TIME. Also, I have read that Safeway has a policy of giving the customer the product for free that they were overcharged for. That has not happened to me ONCE in the probably 20+ times that I have had to make a complaint. So, if you are reading this, please read every receipt CAREFULLY!!! read more
