The price on most of their groceries are so awesome! Just remember that you may not get all the brand named canned goods or whatever. Also, bring your own bags. I came in with 2 bags, filled those and used some of the store plastic bags. I put in 2 jars of spaghetti sauce and when I went to place it in the cart ooops. Most of them were really nice about it but I don't blame the person cleaning up my mess. They even replaced the bottles for free. I did explain that the bottom of the bag just split and when I checked the stack of new bags the next few weren't sealed at the bottom. read more

I love winco. normally I'd give as many starts as is possible, but with the self checkout now only accepting cash winco needs to make 12 items or less aisles. I just drove across town for the prices, put 2 things in my cart and went to checkout. since I didn't have my debit card I was stuck in line several people deep all of whom had their carts loaded up like there's some terrible natural disaster coming in.i normally practice stellar cart etiquette, but I left my cart in the line and walked out. I ended up spending almost double at Fred Meyer, but at least it didn't make me want to scream and throw a temper tantrum in the middle of the store. please make 12 items or less lanes. if you care anything at all about the mental health of your loyal customers please don't ruin their days. we have other things we need to get done with our days and I'm now way behind because I had to go to 2 stores read more

I didn't know what to expect or how this place differs from freddies and the like. I moved here in the summer and it was my first time seeing a winco. Giving this place a solid 3 stars. It's like Walmart meets Costco. It's a little overwhelming when you walk into this location. You're herded in one direction. They have a lot of options. I like that it's one of the few stores that are open before 7am if you really are in a pinch. It blows my mind that no one opens before 7. However I didn't feel that safe. I definitely would NOT shop at night. The demographic that shops there is definitely more of the "Walmart vibe" and all that brings. I purchased a bag of pre - washed Brussels sprouts and the attached images are what I received from Taylor Farms. They state on their front package that they're "thoroughly washed," which is not case. Disgustingly coated with dirt, grime, unknown liquid and slime. I had to peel off 5-8 layers to get a clean tiny Brussel sprout. This sickens me because I've purchased these many times before. This particular package was purchased on 11/09 at WINCO. Nothing special about this warehouse type grocery store except one female employee who made all the difference! We were looking for Hollandaise sauce Knorr brand. We saw everything else except what we were looking for. When we asked she stopped the stocking work she was doing and attempted to find it on her handheld computer. She said "darn my Zebra is down". She was apparently referring to the inventory program they use. She found another employee and borrowed his device and located the item we were looking for. Unfortunately, they were out of Hollandaise but had Bernaise..which we got instead. My point is this employee took the time to help us and had an awesome customer service quality that is RARE these days. I didn't get her name but she was amazing! read more

This store is absolutely gouging their customers. The prices are ridiculous. The green sale stickers are fooling no one. I've never had to fight so hard to use a coupon before. A coupon that was on a case of Coke left the checker flummoxed and befuddled. And the place is so dirty. I went to this store Jan 16th, the day the ice storm was expected. These clowns shut down self checkout. They had about 5 checkers working. Each line had over 30-50 people in it. There was carts left in isles all over the store (dozens)! It takes one person to watch self checkout and you have about a dozen registers there. It's a no brainer. Have fun picking up all the food left all over your store! Mine included. I hope you have to discard all the perishable food, that'll cost you thousands! read more

"The WinCo is *everywhere*!" Okay okay, the quote is actually "the Wolfman", but as I was doing research for our trip to the PNW, I was happy to see how many Wincos are in this area. We have few in the Land of Fruits and Nuts. Travels took us to Ridgefield, so this WinCo proved to be the most convenient. I'd think that, with all the Wincos in the area, they might be smaller and/or fewer items. Nope. Just as big, just as much to get, just as low prices as I've come to expect. Such a deal! Our damage: 6 pizzas (friends in Ridgefield), a footlong sandwich, canned foods to put over a campfire, and health food (okay, it was chocolate). It was so easy to find everything, and much lower cost than we'd get at Safeway. For good food at good prices, cruise on over to 99 & 99th (gotta love that address). read more

The prices at Winco have come to the point where they are now as high as Safeway, Fred Meyer (Kroger) and Albertsons. If I'm going to have to pay $4.49 for a quart of coffee creamer then I will go where I can at least earn points toward saving on fuel. This was my go-to for years when I lived in Hazel Dell for groceries. No longer in that area but was there today and figured I'd finally Yelp it. This store is usually pretty clean (bathroom was a bit dirty today). Meats and produce selection is always really good. I am so done with this particular branch of Winco. There has just been too many things done too poorly. Last week I went there to get some protein bars. I like to buy them in quantities, enough to last me a month or more. Often times, if self checkout isn't busy, I have gone through there and asked the attending cashier to enter a quantity for me, something that takes them about a minute. When I went to check out, the self check out was busy and full, so I went to one of the few open regular lanes. The lane I picked was staffed by a young man you obviously had some developmental challenges. God Bless him, and WinCo for giving him a job. No problem there, but at least put him in a position he can handle. This nice young man was a chatterbox, for every single item he scanned, he had to exchange a complete sentence or more with the person he was checking out. There were only 2 people in line in front of me, with half full carts, and it took me a half hour to get through that check out stand. At the very least, management should be training him better that his primary job is to collect the customers money, not chit chat with them. Fast forward several weeks and I'm back to restock my protein bars. They only had 2 non-self checkout lanes open, as they had just shut down 3 of 5 they were running. of the two lanes, there were 2 to 4 people with full carts ahead of me, and when I looked over at self-checkout, there was no one there, and the attended was just going around checking the plastic bag stock and then returned to sitting on her ass waiting for someone to come through self-checkout. So I went over there and asked her if she could please do a quantity for me. She was less than cooperative, and kept citing store policy of these lanes are 15 items or less (which by the way, is not how other WinCo in area treat there self-checkout lanes. I wouldn't want to inconvenience other people who might have been held up, but since there was literally no one at self-check out, and different cashiers at self-check out have done this for me in the past, I thought it was reasonable to ask. The lady was never rude, but was completely un-helpful and when you combine the two events together, I will never be going back to this POS WinCo. read more

I go here for the produce and bulk items. But when I walked past something so disturbing, I couldn't believe my eyes. The nastiest thing I saw in this place were their donuts. The case holding the flies was not even enclosed, so flies flew in the 1 inch gaps and ate at the donuts. The flies were laying eggs and and making family dinners on the donuts. So do the workers throw away the donuts after I reported it? No. After dozens of house flies doing repeated marathons on all the sugary donuts, it definitely becomes unsafe to eat. Flies land on feces, garbage dumps, and every nasty place you can imagine. You don't know where their feet have landed! They track unsanitary yuck onto these donuts and I bet it is not only to the donuts, but to all the other exposed foods. If the FDA came and inspected this place, they would fail. WinCo. The first part says it all. WIN! It's literally across the street and is the cheapest place for the quality around. I love this store in any area. This particular location is okay. I notice that there is usually at least one or two things that they are out of when I do my biweekly shopping. The quality of the produce is pretty good. The organization of the store has changed a few times so it can be a bit confusing. Is salsa in the Mexican/ethnic isle or is it in the canned goods? I don't know since it's moved a couple times. It's usually busy as heck, but the line wait is never too bad. Just don't come out of an isle without stopping and looking first, you might get side swiped or ran over. People here seem to be in a hurry. Overall I love this store and do most of my shopping here. read more

While I love Winco Foods I have to give them just 3 stars for our shopping experience today. Crazy long lines- longer than normal. We literally waited 4 carts in front of us and many more behind us in a line that wasn't moving. After 10 minutes without moving I found their phone number and called them to complain that they didn't have enough checkers. This accomplished ZERO. While the person on the phone was polite they offered no help or solution- just that it was busy. We are contemplating switching our grocery shopping to another store that is a bit friendlier and more responsive to the needs of its customers. Prices here are great but if you have to spend an extra 20 minutes of your life just trying to get out the door is it really worth it to save a couple bucks? read more

Did run into a really rude woman a week ago with the free turkey promotion with $100 purchase. I trust WinCo, a chain of supermarkets, they're not out to shaft anybody. The price signs in their stores are not knowingly or intentionally located "near" confusingly similar, but inapplicable products. If you point out this type of inaccuracy, WinCo personnel would of course correct them, not leave them there. I have never noticed them putting price signs up early, taking them down late, or chastising customers for not reading the small print -- because WinCo doesn't manipulate with small print. These types of actions or inactions would result in fraudulent charges to duped customers. WinCo doesn't "tie" inflated "regular" prices to a shopping card, in order to arrive at a so-called discounted price. Therefore there's no incentive for them to render any so-called discounts null. WinCo doesn't even have a shopping card, so there's no worry about it being scanned incorrectly, or your phone number being entered incorrectly if you forget your card. So there's no oops, where you would be charged the "regular" price, on "all" items. WinCo receipts are straight-forward and easy to understand. For each item purchased -- there's one simple line item on the receipt. So there's no need for a so-called discount code on another line, which may not even appear, somewhere on the receipt, and thus not be reduced from the total -- based on fraudulently induced customer "mistakes". WinCo is a straight arrow. Charges have always been what I "understood" they were going to be, for each item. They don't nickel-dime, chisel, or cheat -- on a item here, an item there. I also like (Kroger owned) Fred Meyer and QFC stores -- both have SELF CHECK-OUT STATIONS. When a shopping trip turns into an expedition. As far as grocery stores go, you could do a lot worse than this one. The quality of the produce, meat, and deli has vastly improved in the last couple of years. You won't find cheaper prices on anything in the store anywhere else unless it's a fluke or gimmick sale. It does what it's supposed to do - provide a well-stocked selection in a clean environment for a good price. Bonus points for letting me bag my own groceries and picking how many sacks to waste myself. 2 Reasons for missing that 5th star: The 2 Time-sucks. 1. The place was recently remodeled and expanded. This should be a bonus, right? It is open and clean and more inviting. Unfortunately the layout is almost as confusing as the outdated layouts of places like Albertsons and Safeway. It's all good navigating around the edge of the store where all the usual fresh/cold products are, but once you get to the middle, it's hard to figure out how to not criss-cross the store 15 times (which, frankly, is probably what they want). 2. The lines are almost never short or quickly moving. I never understand why these places under-staff predictably busy shifts and only open 1/3 of the available check stands. It's just one more thing that makes the shopping trip more of an expedition. Many times, I'll opt for Freddy M's higher prices for the better experience. (Side note, this is exactly inversely proportionate to the cost/benefit of going to Whole Foods or New Seasons!) The Bottom Line for WinCo's Everywhere: I would reliably go here more often than I already do if I could guarantee myself that the money I'm saving outweighs the painful excess of time I'm spending. read more

The recent renovations to this location have made all of the difference. They now carry a larger variety, including many organic and gluten free brands (ie amy's, udi's, nature's path). This store's produce has always been good, and if you pick by seasonality, you can't go wrong. In the produce department, winco carries a decent variety of premade packaged salads, perfect for lunches, at very low prices. I figured it would be a hit or miss; the salad stayed fresh for several days in the fridge, and was delicious when eaten. Winco also has some of the most reasonable prices on Odwalla products that I have seen. The bulk bins are pretty standard. The prices on energy drinks are very low, and there is quite the variety. Winco has always carried name brand products, but now carries many organic cereals, pastas, yogurts etc. Winco's bakery is home to some of the best fresh baked bagels you can get for very good prices. They must have at least 10 different flavors, all delicious. A vegetarian myself, I have been told by others who frequent this location, that although this store's meat department was not recommended a few years back, it has vastly improved. Winco also carries many toiletry items for very low prices. You bag your own groceries, which some people tend to prefer. A mixture of people shop at this locations, some shady folks, many average blokes. A patrol car is often parked out from, which usually makes people feel either safer or more apprehensive when shopping there. Personally I am a big fan of winco. read more

I never go to WinCo. They're just not close enough for me but recently a friend said she went to one and I was in Vancouver to buy some fireworks and passed WinCo and thought, "What the hell." My kid thought it was like the Home Depot of food which I thought was great. No, I would not buy produce here but you can find some bangin deals...particularly on processed foods. Place was busy - granted it was 4th of July. Some interesting folks up in there...think 'People of Walmart' But, hey, it is what it is. Overall I LOVE WinCo. Before I go out of town on the weekends I make a special trip to stock a cooler because the sticker shock and poor selection if other grocery stores always makes me wish I was at WinCo. I'm especially fond of the bulk food section. Nothing is quite as rewarding as scooping out just as much of the items you want into your own bags and searching the free recipe cards for ideas. My only complaint is the usually poor customer service. I have a special order that I've picked up weekly for 5 years. Even after this long it's never ready when I get there, I can never reach anyone on the phone, and I get the same blank stare when I ask for it. That's OK though! The low prices make up for it. I came to WinCo in a really good mood, excited about what I was going to be cooking for dinner tonight. Needless to say, I left WinCo extremely irritated and mad. I was buying not only wine but groceries, my 12 year old sister was grocery shopping with me because she's staying with me at my house for the week. The cashier at self check out refused to sell me the bottle of wine because my 12 year old sister was with me. I asked for the manager and she said "yeah we can't sell to you since he already has a suspicion"...... a suspicion about what?!?!? She's literally a 12 year old CHILD who still likes with my little ponies, she's not gonna be drinking a glass of wine. I could understand if she was 16 or something but my sister is still a child. It's not only the fact that they wouldn't sell me the wine that upset me, but the fact that they were being extremely rude and condescending towards me about it. I ended up having to make an extra stop at a gas station and pay more than 3x the price for a bottle of wine. read more

I don't buy a whole lot at WinCo. Mostly I hit up the meat section to stock up on various cuts for our dog who eats a raw diet. They usually have more than one type of organ meat in stock which is a huge plus. They have beer at a good price, and their bulk section looked pretty comprehensive. read more

We love WinCo. We're recent transplants from Kansas City, and shopped at Aldi and Natural Grocer. Winco fills this void almost completely and the customer service far surpasses both - I can find almost everything I want here. My sweetie loves the fresh ground peanut butter, and I agree it's pretty good. They have a good selection of non-meat protein items though not Field Roast products which is too bad. Great produce section, great bulk offerings for staples. Also bulk cheez sauce powder, OMG, so delicious and so not whole food. But it makes great mac n cheese, and I find myself sneaking spoons of it into mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes and so on. A big highlight is super helpful, very nice employees. We've received awesome customer service here many times, in the checkout and in the store trying to find things. Oh, and excellent prices. read more
