the entrance of a safeway store at night

It's no downtown Safeway with Alex behind the sandwich counter, but this Safeway's got some good things going for it. 1. It's in Market Mall. All malls should come complete with a grocery store. It's the one thing Chinook is missing. The malls that do have grocery stores really are your one-stop-shop for everything. 2. It's one of those fancy-schmancy newer layouts with the pharmacy right in the middle instead of at the back. It was my first time at this location, and you know, I think it was actually easier to find what I needed. 3. The checkouts are quick. This is typically the case in any Safeway I've been to, but it counts just the same. When I'm at the grocery store, I like to get through the checkout line as quickly as possible. In fact, this is true of just about any store. I enjoy the browsing/shopping part. I dislike the waiting in line part. Granted, I was here at around 7 pm on a Sunday, but the cashier was quick to ring me through just the same. 4. It's ideally located for those in the area without vehicles. That's just a long winded way of saying it's within walking distance for a lot of folk. Does that make it good for the environment? I have yet to find a Safeway that I don't enjoy shopping at (except maybe the one just north of 16th Ave, but that's a review for another time).

Nice store, generally well managed it would see in the some 5-6 visits I've made. Yet, my issue…read morewith the store might be just a bit outside, so to speak. Always greeted by a security guard when I arrive at the entrance, where was that individual when my son-in-laws $3K mountain bike secured with a heavy duty anti-theft lock when it was stolen in plain daylight on a day with the temps in the 40s? Observers outside, people walking up even said they witnessed the thief struggling to break the lock--which he did. The security guard is even outside at times. So much for that luck, and the store said, "sorry, we don't have security cameras." In the days when security cameras are the norm, and a public place with high volume traffic, I sense the store management here isn't on the ball. I hope they read this and consider beefing up what should be the norm in essential security. Kudos to the folks inside working the store though, they're fine, and I'm sure I'll return. I just wouldn't recommend bringing a bicycle if you're coming, and if security is that lax, best make sure your car is locked.

I picked up some ground beef and steak and of course a few other things. Well I like this location more than the one in Beltline. It seems like there is a higher chance of finding sale item in stock here. I like shopping here. Lots of parking if you have a car. Friendly service. It wasn't that busy when I went in at around 7:30 ish.

I used to go to this pharmacy a lot, primarily for supplements and home health supplies. They were…read moremore expensive but I liked the service. I then started using the pharmacy but I have been very disappointed. They seem curt and harried, promised they could compound a beta blocker but after a week said they couldn't, but could split the pills which would take another week. After that I had more rather curt experiences so I moved my prescriptions to Cambrian which I highly recommend. They don't carry as many home health supplies but you can get those through Coop or Shoppers or Cal Medi. I have found the non pharmacy departments at Kenron pretty good but my experiences with the pharmacy left me not wanting to do business with Kenron.

I purchased a non-prescription continuous blood glucose monitoring sensor yesterday (June 26 2019)…read morefrom Kenron for $157.49, which I had sent my son in while I waited in the car as I had just been discharged from the Foothills Hospital. The manufacturer (Abbott Labs) sell these exact same units for $89.00 with free delivery. The $68.49 "mark up" charged by Kenron is nothing other than price gouging. When I pointed this out to the pharmacy the attitude that I got was that this was perfectly normal. I find this incredibly tone deaf in that I have other choices and Kenron clearly needs to price gouge its customers in order to stay in business. DO NOT make the same mistake I did in becoming a customer. You will over pay for your drugs and medical equipment, as this case clearly shows. A whopping 77% mark-up over retail is simply price gouging. Shame on Kenron.
