Stupidest packaging ever!!! WHY WHY WHY? cmon Safeway!
William B.

If you're able to use the app, Safeway can be an ok place to shop. Prices are sky-high compared to Krogers Fred Meyer in Warrenton, UNLESS you're shopping the ads and app deals. This store is pretty clean. I had a full cart the other day; the ONLY lane open was the '15 items or less'. Now, if you're only going to have ONE lane open, it needs to be general purpose. So I was forced into self check, and it was NOT good. Their app, unfortunately, is buggy, and you'll occasionally find that 'deals' you've clipped dont work (minus one star)

Finished off with fish and chips and a fish taco! A wonderful place to eat with fresh fish generally provided from what they're able to gather that day. What an awesome flavor fresh fish have compared to store-bought fish. Although there was a little bit of a weight to get in, it went quickly, and I would highly recommend waiting.

No! This place was…read morereally disappointing. Came here based on reviews, but I. would caution anyone to steer clear of this place. It started with flat champagne drinks. That's just a fail, and it suggests a place that doesn't bother keeping things fresh. It kind of went downhill from there. We were looking for nice fresh fish and chips, wile we were out along the coast. We live near the coast ourselves, and are no strangers to good seafood. We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria. Hard pass. i'm nauseous just thinking back to my experience here. Could hardly get away fast enough...

The ingredients on the sandwiches were very fresh. I could have used a little more sauce on mine. However, the potatoe salad was the star of the show. Definitely tangy and i loved the pickles in it. I ended up going back to get a togo order of it! The inside was very cute and had a decent amount of space! Would recommend!

Very popular since most of the onsite seating were occupied (6/20/25). No surprise after glancing at their menu, easily I could gravitate towards several of their sandwiches. Lots of merch and deli items are also available to select from. I ended up ordering a half pound of proscuitto (0.52 lb for $17.67). This was carefully sliced thin, packaged, and wrapped carefully, which was duly noted and greatly appreciated. We paused at window counter seats and had to sample the purchase before departing. Absolutely delicious! Helped elevate a meal the next day too. I may have to return to indulge in one of their Italian sandwiches. Update: we did return to dine onsite at the same window counter seats (6/22/25). The Homie had the Hot Meatball ($14). Meaty with zesty sauce. I had the Salami Panini ($12), which reminded me of a fave Italian panini at Irwin's Bakery & Cafe in Seattle. Both were fantastic, hit the spot, clean plate club worthy, and definitely no takeout boxes needed! Gaetano's Market & Deli, a terrific find in Astoria!
