Called on a Monday and had a technician as soon as Tuesday. William was courteous and respectful. He contacted me to ask questions and advised me when he arrived. He called after the work was done to say that he needed to come back. The glass broke when he went to seal it. Apparently it happens with older trucks and he was going to discount me the wipers blades for the inconvenience. The wipers blades were another issue. I was told they had to be purchased to go along with the glass and it was a specific blade to ensure the safety of the windshield. My insurance claim begged to differ as they weren't going to cover it because they were $75 and you can get cheaper blades plus if it was a part of the service it wouldn't be extra. Well played, Safelite - I got duped. Thankfully, the technician broke the window so I then didn't have to pay for them. When I got home that Tuesday. My driver door was wide open. It has been raining on and off. The seat was wet and the floor saturated. Yay for mold. I'm not even sure how an oversight like that happens. I called the technician to ask and was told that he is very meticulous and cannot imagine leaving the door wide open, but would come back to clean it should I want. Nope. We are good. I like squishy floors. On Thursday, the tech was back. Very well spoken and communicative. I questioned my confirmation emails because my estimate went from 414 to 317 because of the new discounted wiper blades to 561 to 886. I was told he ordered extra parts and they are all attached to the service until scrapped. Cool story. It seems odd to add it to the estimate when it is not the customers fault. William finished. Gave me the details. He cleaned my seats and floor. Dried up as much water as he could. Set the new window. Attached my rear view and made sure to close my door. We settled up for 317. He told me I would get a notification that I was zeroed out. When I didn't - I texted him to advise. It felt a little rude but I was told he was driving and cannot look that he will handle tomorrow morning or I can call Mary Jo in the office. I said I would call. He then made sure I knew that he "in fact knows he charged me only $317" I know. I was there. I also never said he didn't. I said I was getting additional invoices. I was told it would be zero once the work was done. I called the office to the rude Mary Jo. She is just finished settling my account. With that she knows I am at a zero. I explained what William told me about adding additional parts to the same service call makes the estimate higher. Mary Jo snarkily advised that he wasn't wrong. I never said he was. I was questioning why they do that and make bills appear higher. And once you've paid why they continue to send texts and emails stating you owe more. Not my cup of tea. Overall, the window got fixed quickly. But the customer service was pretty shaky in the end. I cracked my windshield which led to another cracked window, a door left wide open and some pretty substantial water saturation to a sort of decent recovery into a bunch of caustic undertones over correspondences Safelite continued to send me. read more

This review isn't about the technician's ability--they did the job. It's about the customer service, which was seriously lacking. From the moment I arrived, the manager at the Safelite in Middletown, NY gave off a confrontational vibe. He seemed irritated--possibly about where I parked--but didn't say anything directly. Still, the tension was obvious. I had scheduled what they called an "all-day" appointment because we intended to drop the car off before we went to work and pick it up on the way home after work. I informed the receptionist that our plans had changed and ask if we could pick up the car sooner if it was ready, the manager bluntly told me that it wasn't possible. What made it worse was his tone--he made a point of reminding me (rather smugly) that I had booked an all-day slot, so "it is what it is." Totally unnecessary and unprofessional. Eventually, I got a call saying the car was ready. The receptionist asked if the technician had already contacted me--I hadn't heard from anyone. Then she told me they were closing in 30 minutes... and I live 25 minutes away. It honestly felt like they waited until the last possible moment to call, just to make it a full-day ordeal. (For reference, a windshield replacement and calibration takes about 2.5 hours.) Long story short: I won't be returning, and I'll be warning others about how I was treated. Traveled 1500 miles to take care of a broken window on my deceased Father's auto. Repeatedly had Middletown Safelite try to alter appointment times and parameters. Repeatedly had to reschedule for a specific date and time that was first agreed upon. Was called two days before the scheduled appointment because of an inclement weather concern. Customer service, rather than even suggesting alternatives for rescheduling (after I explained my scheduling issues) told me and I quote "since you won't take what I tell you to, you can just take your business elsewhere because I am canceling your appointment". Absolutely unbelievable. I wouldn't do business with them if they were the absolute only place on Earth left. Last laugh is on them because my insurance company has multiple contracts with Safelite and is less than thrilled with their customer service (or lack thereof) as well. read more

my door glass was replaced but they left the molding bent. a second technician came and supposedly fixed it. it was not fixed. I made an appointment for in shop repair for the 3rd time. after 45 minutes my car was still in the parking lot. I asked them to reschedule and come to me. the front desk person was giving me a story about not able to do warranty work in my home. that's when a technician came out and started screaming at me that they are too busy to get me in in a timely manner. literally screaming at me. I recently had my windshield replaced on my car. When the installation was complete there was a bubble on my window that was large and not there prior to installation. I was told by the technician that this was the "glue drying" and normal. When i drove the car my plastic housing unit above the rearview mirror fell off. The technician said he would "tape" it back on. After a week, and many phone calls, I discovered the bubble was poor installation and the housing unit was broke. Some transparency would have been appreciated. Will never use safelite again! company too big....cant even speak to a representative locally....I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was none and hung up. I had the job redone by another company with professionalism who actually installed the windshield correctly. read more

Poor customer service. Safelite charges your card without confirming the appointment with a technician. I booked an appointment for today and was told there's no appointment in the system. When I expressed my frustration Mary Joe hung up the phone on me twice and ignored another call. When I asked the manager name she said I could call whoever I want. This is the second time I've dealt with this location. First time, not so great... technician seemed bothered to do the work to replace my windshield. He explained that the leak test they did on my Jeep failed NOT because of a windshield issue. I opted to go against their recommendation not to replace it. He really made it seem like it was too much trouble to to do this replacement... this annoyed me, but I decided to let them complete the job. Sure enough, windshield replaced and...NO LEAKS!! NO ISSUES for several years, car was sold. Second time, several years later, different vehicle. Used my insurance comp to set up appointment. When I arrived, I waited a good 5 minutes at the desk before being greeted or acknowledged. When the office tech finally arrived, I got that same old "you're really asking a lot" attitude from the employee right from the jump. He looked at his computer and said the info from the insurance company was never updated on his system, indicating it was for a repair VS replacement. He really seemed bothered to take another job for the day ...and it was 10:30 am. He stated he didn't even have the glass, so he couldn't do the work. This place needs a massive attitude adjustment and lesson in customer service and courtesy. A rock from a truck on the interstate smashed my windshield, leaving a crack in the glass that spread more quickly than I was comfortable with, so I called Safelite pretty much right away. This is my first time using this business. I'm extremely happy with them! I'm used to car repairs of really any kind, especially when going thru insurance, being a hassle and really time consuming. That wasn't the case here at all. I was given an appointment literally the next morning after I called, they handled all the insurance involvement, and I had a brand new windshield within an hour - with my EZ pass, inspection and insurance stickers all reapplied as well. Everyone I dealt with, between the associate on the phone who took my info and made my appointment, to the gentlemen in the shop who handled my replacement, were terrific. Friendly, helpful, efficient. I would absolutely use these guys again - though hopefully I don't have to! Lol read more

I was scheduled for a windshield replacement this was to happen from 8 to 12 get a phone call at 8 and the tech said there was a miss communication with my Insurance company . safelite had never contacted or communicated with my Insurance ever so i fix it and they come. if your windshield has any kind of modifications like trim issues they do not have the capability to help you. do yourself a favor and find a qualified shop that can help. This large company is just like most large companies underpaid staff with little knowledge to the job at hand. read more

This location is the best for my family. I've had to use them twice. My husband used them too. They were very helpful to my husband when with the window and was able to fixed the door system as well he climbed over the console in his car for 8 months. I would give them zero stars if I could. The people of the Middletown store are one worse than the other - they damaged my car, tried to hide it, the technician literally ripped apart my car, scratched my hood, broke the review mirror, bent and otherwise destroyed the molding, damaged the header, left razor blades on the ground where my dogs and kid walks, put the wrong sticker in the windshield, and got mud all over the rugs and floor board on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle and all I keep getting is the run around and false promises, missed appointments and then today, 15 minutes before my 3rd scheduled appointment they send A TEXT MESSAGE confirming its been delayed ANOTHER WEEK. This is so unacceptable and I suggest going anywhere but here. read more

Allstate directed me to Safelite on North Galleria Drive when I needed a new windshield. The technician who showed up was professional, though he did break a piece of plastic molding while replacing my windshield. Not a big deal. Later when I was driving, I felt something on my steering wheel. I thought it was mud so I began scraping it off. It was in fact glue from the glass repair. I didn't realize it, but when I was scraping off what I thought was dirt, I was peeling off glue along with part of my leather steering wheel. After reporting the damage, someone from Safelite showed up and took pictures. The next day I received a call from a manager named John. He didn't believe that his technician had caused the problem because there was no glue residue left on the steering wheel. I understood his suspicion, but I was also annoyed that I had to argue with him over this. What else could have destroyed the top of my steering wheel? Where was the "after" picture of a job well done? Did he really think I was trying to scam Safelite out of a new steering wheel? He didn't have answers to those questions, so he tried to get me to accept a repair. Instead, I had them pay to have it replaced. I imagine this ordeal could happen with any windshield replacement. As such, this review is more about the manager, John, than Safelite in general. When I called Safelite to ask when their technician was going to show up to fix the plastic molding (I was told between 8 AM and noon- it was 10 AM) John apologized and said he wasn't coming that day. He then lied to me and said they had ordered the plastic piece, but the wrong part was shipped. He said I needed the piece for the left side and they had sent the one for the right side. Two different Safelite technicians told me the pieces are shipped as a pair. Indeed, when the molding was fixed, both sides were replaced. Why would John lie? Why question my honesty over the damage to my steering wheel when you can't even be honest about the fact that you messed up ordering parts? In short, the technicians I dealt with were nice and professional, despite the damage to my car, but I did not enjoy dealing with their manager. read more

This was the worst car repair event in my life!!! It took several tries to get an appointment. Too cold,too wet but they made the appointment anyway. They apparently do not provide schedulers with a window to the outside or a newspaper for the weather. Then they forgot to order the glass. I finally went there. Not only did they take my nearly new wiper blades without asking or telling, there was grease on the inside of my car. I showed the tech and he proceeded to scrape the outside of my window. Corrected him and then he started to scrape the inside of my window. Not where the grease was. This however proves they did not wash the windows,(or vacuum) and may not even know what a window is. If I hear the words "I'm sorry" one more time my head will explode because they just are not. They seem to exist just tot inconvenience people They get fed work from the insurance companies so there is no need for them to do even an OK job. The manager just acted like I was an annoyance to him. There is a sign that says something to the effect that no one should leave unhappy. I can not even comment on the amount of unhappy I am without resorting to words that grownup should not use. Still waiting to hear from them on their take on my experience. Still waiting. Was husbands's was worse than mine starting with they scheduled an appointment in Forrestburgh rather than Newburgh. They got the "burgh" part right. I called so that the tech would not waste several hours of his time traveling, not to my house. Did not even get an I'm sorry, or a thank-you. This was 2nd apptmt since 1st came as a repair even tho I requested replacement (2 starburst cracks in my field of vision repair wouldn't remedy) so they agreed to replace the windshield. Able to get apptmt within a week. I left keys with my manager & they came early I was 1st apptmt. I spoke to service person and just asked how do they do the stickers to remove & have them stick again. Says he's been doing it for 25 yrs. So I was reassured. When I get back the windshield is wonderful. I can see clearly again! But after 2 weeks my stickers are peeling off. Minor issue but I was really hoping not have to tape it. My experience with these guys was excellent. I busted the entire back window on my Subaru Outback, and was referred to them Geico. They replaced it within a couple of hours, including vacuuming the glass out of the door. The technician answered my questions, and the new window, including all sensors, was good as new. I thought I picked the best choice by calling safelite to repair my windshield, but they had very poor customer service. The tech was not very knowledgeable. He told me to leave and he would call me when the job was done, but as soon as I left he left without completing the job!! Sadly, to top it off, the person I talked to on the phone was condescending. I have had my windshield replaced three times in the past year by Safelite; the last time was just 3 months ago. I own a Jeep Wrangler and the last time they replaced it they did not seal it correctly at the top and after it snowed there was a crack starting at the top (you can see the flawed seal) going down and across the entire windshield caused from the weight of the snow. I called Safelite to see if it would be covered under warranty and I honestly did not want to put in a 4th claim in 1 1/2 years for the same windshield and since it was obvious that the crack was caused by improper installation assumed that they would stand by their work...... I was wrong! I scheduled my appointment and they sent me an email confirmation with a picture of the tech who would be coming (between the hours of 12-5) When they arrived (was not the tech in the confirmation email) they told me that the windshield cracked because it was hit by a rock and it would not be covered under warranty. It was not hit by rock!! but Whatever!! I filed a new claim and needles to say Safelite will not be installing it. Allstate reffered me to American Mobile Glass in Middletown, NY instead and their customer service is AMAZING!!!!! Thank You American Mobile Glass!! If you don't mind having unprofessional techs or a company that doesn't stand behind their work you should totally use Safetlite the next time a "rock" hits your windshield read more

Excellent customer service. I had my windshield replaced and the entire process was done smoothly. It took me less than 5 minutes to set up a claim with my insurance company and scheduled the appointment with Safelite. I was told it can take up to 2 hours to replaced the windshield but I was finished in a hour. Eric replaced the windshield, placed my inspection and registration stickers on the new windshield and even vacuumed my car :). I'm so happy I came here. I made my appointment through the GEICO app as instructed. The first guy who came out was not only rude on the phone (as if it was an inconvenience that I could not bring my car to him when I was at work...I don't control the rain, but I had a covered area big enough for them to replace the windshield), but did not put in the correct window - as I had requested OEM on my appointment request. They did not confirm the windshield with me over the phone. In addition, my rearview mirror shook uncontrollably with the new windshield (even when my car was idling - & no, my car is super quiet and I sometimes forget it's already on). When I called about the issue, I was informed that I would have to wait for them to order it from Ford & that there would be an additional cost. Which was fine. The second guy who came to replace the windshield was extremely professional. He was quick, but not rushed and the process went smoothly. When I asked him about the shaking rear view, I was informed that my rearview mirror needed to be replaced - well it was fine before I needed a replacement windshield!!! I recently got my windshield replaced. The Guy William was so professional, called me 1/2 hour before and reached on time. He definitely knew how to do the job perfectly. Completely professional. Cleaned every small piece from floor and vacuumed my car from inside. He told me all the things I need to do for first 48 hours.
