Avoid Safelite at all costs! We brought our 2021 Subaru Outback to the Safelite Highlands Ranch location (5701 County Line Pl) on August 4 for a windshield replacement. At drop-off, the Eyesight camera system was working perfectly. After installation, Safelite attempted calibration for two days but could not complete it successfully. We were then told to take the vehicle to Subaru. Subaru ran full diagnostics and confirmed the Eyesight camera had been internally damaged during Safelite's work--a recurring issue they've seen with Safelite installations. The repair cost was $4,350.46. Instead of taking responsibility promptly, the Highlands Ranch team (particularly Assistant Manager Jenny) was defensive and unhelpful. After escalating all the way to the CEO, the store manager, Zach, finally accepted liability, but showed no sense of urgency. We were without the car for a week and had to pay Subaru out of pocket because Safelite couldn't arrange payment in time. Only after further escalation did we get reimbursed with an overnighted check. This was by far the worst experience we've ever had with a company. Scheduling a chip repair online was super easy. They contacted my insurance company to confirm no out-of-pocket. On the day of the appointment, I arrived 45 minutes early. In spite of this, they got my vehicle in immediately. This place is truly awful. I had my windshield replaced on May 1st, on May 8th a stress fracture appeared. It's obvious that this is a stress crack as it originates at the top where the window frame begins to curve. It's clear the technician installing the new windshield did something wrong -- but this shoddy people won't repair their error. First, you can't talk to these people on the phone -- all they have is a computer-driven Voice Response System (this crappy system disconnected my twice when trying to get 'warranty' help). Second, upon trying to schedule time on the website to get a warranty issue, there are no (zero) appointments available for them coming to you -- you'll have to find time to bring your car to them. Finally, they refuse to fix the new crack that appeared only eight days after the replacement. I spoke to two different people, and both insist I need to pay for another new windshield -- full cost! Attempt to use non-OEM glass which makes it impossible to calibrate the safety features of the car and after they make you sit there for 4 hours while they attempt to do this only to tell you that you need to come back in a few days when they get the OEM glass . I assume this is in collaboration with Travelers to save money which is why they are preferred vendor . If you want to waste a lot of your valuable time and have nobody give a shit or even apologize that now you have to come back and waste another 4 hours to get the glass replaced that they should have been able to get done in 2 hours if they used the correct glass! They call to say (9) techs called in sick. Reschedule another week and the tech says, it's the wrong glass without solar tinting. Rescheduled again; I try in-house, at their shop; at a scheduled time. I'm told 30 to 45 minutes. 45 minutes later, they've not started. I'm told, they're busy, sorry. No offers for a ride home or a neighborhood LYft/Uber; just wait 45 minutes again, only to be told, their glass is scratched. This happens (9) times. My experience at Safelite was very stressful. To start off, I walk out to my car after the service and there's a mustard spot on my windshield and a smeared tomato on the hood of my car. I just thought "ok whatever, at least it's done" and went home. The day after, I was getting in my car to drive home from work and noticed that my rear view mirror had popped out of socket. I looked up YouTube videos on how to fix it, but it was very complicated so I had to drive home without my rear view mirror. We contacted Safelite many times and finally someone called us back. Yesterday driving on 25N a rock from 25S flew onto my windshield and for the first time I witnessed an instantaneous chip appear. The sheer noise and sudden impact made me almost duck! Fast forward to this morning. I drove to the nearest Safelite after talking to my insurance and a Safelite person on the phone yesterday. I learned that the mobile service for Safelite is a lot busier than if you just drop in at a mortar and brick location nearest you. They open at 8am. Although when I got there three people were already being helped. The staff were very professional but warm. The initial contact was very nice. They are genuinely concerned for you and before they start any work they explained that while working the windshield that there is a very rare chance that the chip could get bigger and therefore break. For this they are not responsible. Meh! I said yes and hope that this is not one of those rare occurrence. They said 20-45 minutes. When they were done the very nice guy that worked on the windshield explained to me what he did and walked with me outside. Love their work. From this experience I learned that it's not going to look perfect but if you didn't know there was a chip there I bet you you won't be able to tell! Resins were filled in and any further spider legs were avoided. This location is super clean. Coffee and cold water provided. Best part? I paid nothing! I'm not sure which location this particular manager is working out of, but Chris Newman has no sense of what "customer service" means. My Jeep was taken to a body shop for hood repainting (which is a completely exterior job), and I arranged for Safelite to come out and replace my windshield while it was there (a job that is typically done starting from the interior, by cutting out the epoxy holding the old windshield in place). Upon bringing my Jeep to the shop, they took pictures of everything inside-and-out of the car, for insurance purposes. I saw the photos myself, and there was no damage until Safelite came out. Fast forward to when I pick it up, there is a huge gash in my navigation screen. Safelite does not take their own photos, and yet Chris claims there is "no way" Safelite did the damage. He refused to compensate for his employee's negligent work, and did not even apologize for forgetting to return my phone calls and emails for over a week. Save yourself the headache and get your windshield replaced by literally ANYBODY else. A 4-year-old would take more responsibility than this sad excuse for a company. read more
