They did this to me are were snarky and rude about it when I suggested that I, in fact, did make an appointment. Call somebody else to clean your chimney. Anybody else. The answer from these folk below highlights their lack of customer concern. The actual fact is that I was snapped at on the phone by 2 different people all *telling* me that I made and appointment. This is farcical because when they finished my initial service I was fully of a mind NOT to call them back or use their service again. The idea that I made an appointment with them is preposterous. I'm will drop a similar review on Google and related sites so folks know. If the people who were snippy with me on the phone want to send a couple of apologies that would be the proper course of action. Otherwise, avoid these folks like a chimney fire.

Spoke with representative Steff and explained that I had a hard thick glaze of creosote that had ignited in the chimney the previous day. Steff, who was pleasant and professional during our conversation, said she would try to get a technician to my home today. I was quoted a price for the job which was fair and reasonable. Thirty minutes later, a Kiwi utility truck entered my driveway. Technicians Gabe and Regan introduced themselves and I gave them an overview of my woodstove and chimney. They wasted no time and immediately went to work. They thoroughly cleaned the chimney and removed all the glazed creosote; they went on to clean the stove, stove pipe, chimney cap and screen. A thorough inspection was performed, and I was happy to hear the clay flue was in good shape. Upon completion of the job, they vacuumed the area around my stove and cleaned up loose debris from outside. These two gentlemen did a great job and where very personable, knowledgeable. Gabe was at the ready with information on products currently on the market for upgrades and equipment that enhanced safety of wood burning stoves and chimney liners. This afternoon, I received an email from Gabe with my inspection report and before and after photos. What an absolute satisfying experience from start to finish with Kiwi. We were very thankful for his communication, honesty, and dedication throughout the project. We recently purchased an old house and found out the chimney was in desperate need of a liner after we had a carbon monoxide scare. Aaron and his partner re-routed the venting system and added the chimney liner. They cleaned up after themselves and Aaron took the time to show us how the new venting system was creating an upward draft, simply from the way he rerouted the pipes. In that time I have never had an issue with their services until yesterday, 9/22/26. The technician that arrived (Aaron) reviewed the wood stove on the inside and first stated that the pipe connected to the stove, which was an elbow pipe was not up to code and need to be replaced with a t connection as creosote can build up and cause a fire. Second the technician then went on the roof and told me that the chimney stack (pipe coming out of the roof) was not actually rated for a wood stove but instead a gas stove so it needed to be replaced. The total cost for everything was $3000 dollars to complete along with roof work which was not included in the replacement. At this point I asked how could the stove have been inspected by your company twice (two different technicians) before and not be told my system was installed incorrectly. I was told by the technician (Aaron) that the previous technician that inspected the system, (Josh) was a bad apple and no longer with the company which would explain the oversite. This clearly was not an acceptable answer and I stated that my system was then not certified correctly and could have potentially caused a fire for multiple years. Note this is before I knew multiple different technicians inspected the system which rules out the bad apple story (Second technician Angel). The technician did acknowledge that this was not a desired situation and stated he simply was providing his assessment and what needed to be done. I asked for a follow up from management and he left stating no work was done to inspect the system as it was not able to pass based on his assessment. About a half hour after the technician (Aaron)left, he called stating he was incorrect on his assessment of the chimney pipe and that he indeed was able to validate that it was indeed the correct rated pipe for a wood stove. Again I asked for a call from management today or tomorrow, 9/23/26. I did not receive the call on 9/23/26. I instead called around noon time on 9/23/26. I spoke with (Alex), manager at the company. He was somewhat aware of the situation but not fully so I provided the rest of the detail. Excuses were made by Alex stating his staff was fully trained however based on my experience with Aaron and previous technicians this was not the case. Currently the following is true. (Aaron) who arrived and inspected the wood stove on 9/22/26 was not aware of the proper pipe required for the stove. it was only after he left and further validated that the story changed and the correct pipe was actually being used. According to (Aaron) the t connection is required to pass inspection. When asking Alex if this was true he was unsure. Furthermore he made the excuse that the previous technicians probably did not want to bother me to replace the t connection even though (Aaron) is stating it is needed to pass inspection. I asked why would the current technician (Aaron) was not be bothered providing a $3000 quote where a $300 quite for previous technicians was bothersome. Let's not forget that when I pressed (Alex) on how (Aaron) stated that it was required for code neither (Alex) nor (Aaron) could provide the necessary change in code that required this change. When I asked Alex to make it right by inspecting and replacing the t connection for free due to the hassle received he stated that would absolutely not pay for the t connection. So currently I am sitting in a house with a wood stove that could have potentially been unsafe to operate because of an improper inspection by a company which this is their core competency. If I were you I would not use this or any other affiliated link for this company as they clearly are putting their customers at risk of a fire and attempting to scam them into buying equipment they do not need. She was literally trying to get him fired for bad reviews. I owned a business for 10 years. I got a couple bad reviews along the way about employees work and had requests for refunds. I did so willingly because the customer satisfaction outweighed my ego. I would NEVER call a clients employer after they left a bad review to voice my personal opinion of them. I confirmed the damage…read more They gave me a (almost too good to be true) quote on site to remove the old clay liner and install a new stainless steel liner and cap to my wood stove flue. Trying to be a good consumer, I got more quotes. All were a lot higher, and NONE of the other companies said that the old flue liner, that they would use a smaller liner and go through the old damaged liner. So all were more expensive (some $1000+ more!) and did less work. Only one other company said the liner removal was the only way to go, but couldn't even give me a quote for over a month, never mind do the work. After getting the quotes, I had A-Tec come back and do the work. They were very professional, did very clean work. No mess left. Chimney liner, new crown and cap looked great. Very satisfied.
