Great service for years except this time. Had a flue liner installed and the technician left a dirty mess of the basement floor, walls, and even on the appliances.Even dented the boiler cover. Did not clean up well and said needed to go to another job. Black hand prints on the doors upstairs. Left even tools and a bucket of cement. I called and spoke to Jonathan who said he'd tell the owner but no call back. Probably not the tech's fault as much as management packing too many jobs in a day. Either case a call back to rectify or apologize for poor clean-up/service would have been professional. Will not use again unless need warranty repair. read more

A-TEC Chimney Sweep was recommended by family members. 1829 Center chimney cape style with 8" SS liner in original chimney. One company quoted a price to repoint the top four rows of bricks, seal the chimney and reinstall the existing SS cap. A-TEC sent David to estimate the job. He recommended sealing the entire top after cleaning the SS pipe and a larger SS cap. Also repointed the entire chimney. A second chimney was topped with a new SS cap. Arrived on the day and time, worked efficiently and did a spectacular job, for the exact same $ as the original estimate. if you need work done or cleaning of your chimney, this is the only company to hire. We've called A-Tec to clean our chimney three years in a row now, and have always been very happy with their work and their service. This year in particular, we were able to schedule a next-day appointment, which was a pleasant surprise leading up to the holidays; and they were able to come even earlier than expected. They got the work done super quickly and were a pleasure to deal with. They also always give us helpful insight into what the cost would be for some work we might want to have done in the future while they're there. Definitely recommended - the cost of a cleaning is about $250 in the fall/winter, and gets cheaper as more of the season elapses. read more

High rate of speed in the right hand lane, nearly crashing into a car being driven at normal speeds. They very nearly caused a major crash. read more

Called them to give me a quote on installing a cap and repointing my chimney. They said it didn't need pointing only crown cement. What an amateur job they did. The sloppiest work ever. embarrassing. As suspected the chimney does need repointing. Called them back and they said, sorry, we'll send someone out again to look at it and give you a quote, which they did. Now they confirm it needs repointing. Should have done it the first time around. Needless to say, I won't have these frauds do any work. Stick to cleaning chimneys and when it comes to repairs leave that to the professionals. Furthermore, they didn't even clean up afterwards. Used my garden hose and couldn't even wind it back up. Plus they left a sprayer behind. Would not recommend at all. read more

Hired A-Tec to clean the chimney. They noted that I had a chimney fire. I confirmed the damage. They gave me a (almost too good to be true) quote on site to remove the old clay liner and install a new stainless steel liner and cap to my wood stove flue. Trying to be a good consumer, I got more quotes. All were a lot higher, and NONE of the other companies said that the old flue liner, that they would use a smaller liner and go through the old damaged liner. So all were more expensive (some $1000+ more!) and did less work. Only one other company said the liner removal was the only way to go, but couldn't even give me a quote for over a month, never mind do the work. After getting the quotes, I had A-Tec come back and do the work. They were very professional, did very clean work. No mess left. Chimney liner, new crown and cap looked great. This is a great company. They always show up when they say they will, and they do a nice clean job. I've been working with A-Tec for about 4 years. I have 6 fireplaces, 2 of which we use in the winter. I've had them do cleanings, fix structural issues, and install dampers and chimney caps. Every time they did a great job, the first time. I couldn't be happier with the service and professionalism of A-Tec Chimney. I placed a service call a few days ago to have my chimney and fireplace inspected as we've not used it in the two years we've lived in our home. Not knowing what to expect given the lack of use, we imagined we'd be up for chimney cleaning and some repairs. Not so. David put our minds at ease by inspecting and testing our system and advising us that it in fact didn't need cleaning at all, made some recommendations on what we could do to improve heat radiation, should we require it, suggested a wood supplier, and what we could do ourselves to ensure the overall health of our fireplace. Toney, and Jason, came to clean the flues, and did an excellent job. They kept the area clean, and did a thorough job. They covered the floors before beginning work with a large black cloth to keep everything clean too. I had also asked that they put a cap back on that blew off a while back, while they were there cleaning the flues, and they did that at no additional charge. Tony recommended a stainless steel chimney cap to cover all three flues, for a pellet, boiler, and wood stove. The new cap will keep things out, and keep the liner for the boiler from deteriorating more than it is. Initially Tony thought the liner may be already to the point of replacing it, but after looking at it while on the roof, he said it wasn't as bad as he initially suspected, and I could go at least a few more years with it. Which is an honest assessment, also good to hear. Plus, they had the lowest quote of 4 companies I called to clean the flues. read more

My damper broke two weeks later, either they missed it due to incompetence or they did it and never told me. I called to ask them about it but never heard back.
