Robert always kept the humor in the lessons we learned. All of the staff are about business but if your willing to do the work and participate they will match that energy and go all out for you and help. I didn't see the end of the road from the jump but now that I finished I'm truly grateful for what High gain has done for me and the knowledge that I've attained. This is the best place in Long Beach to take care of this misery. Look no further because these are true professionals. This was truly the worst experience of my life, having to go through and suffer with a situation like this. Their staff is so good. I went into this thinking I was gonna have to watch a bunch of videos about people getting killed by drunk drivers. I couldn't be more wrong. This program focuses on mental health, rehabilitation, and they are sincerely kind and non-judgmental of everyone. I will never in my life need their services again, however, I can tell you, if you are looking for a program in the long beach area, this is the place to go. I'm a licensed mental health professional and I can fully vouch for their legitimacy. They are strict about timeliness and attendance, but why wouldn't they be? They need to satisfy the requirements of the courts and need to do what they have to do. I don't need my time wasted. She then transfers me to the medical benefits line (?) to get the NPI number. I get transferred, ask for the number, get questioned a few times why I need it, get placed on hold, and then get told Chase will call me back. What's up with you guys? This place was fine while I was there, paying them. Granted, there were a lot of troubled older teens without a real issue, so it was hard to focus on my sobriety. The fact that it is more like a prison for rich kids says something, but I was still able to find my way. My main issue is what happened after I left. I needed proof that I was staying there and getting treatment for my addiction, which they would not supply. This caused my college to fail me in classes and dropped my GPA to a level I will never recover from. Additionally, they released a newsletter that printed my sobriety date falsely. They said I relapsed on print. This is inexcusable to do to someone early in sobriety. It's hard enough staying sober without your old rehab messing with you. They committed libel, and I probably should have sued. Had my family seen that newsletter, they would not have spoken to me for years. I guess I got lucky that no one read it. I am still sober (over 15 years!) despite their efforts or lack thereof. Needless to say, they did not help with my long-term sobriety. They were detrimental to it. Probably in their best interest for people to relapse, then they can bill you again and take you back. I stayed sober by avoiding this place like the plague once I got out. Lastly, what Cade said in an early review was true about one of their employees sleeping with one of the female residents. Generally, the women who stay there have it a little easier and get away with more. I guess that is why a lot of these 5-star reviews are by woman.

I am rating Dr. Wool and his office with 5-Starts under the "totality of the circumstances scale."…read more If Yelp allowed for a rating system that was broken down into categories, you would see that there are issues that one will encounter, but with regard to the most important of them, Dr. Wool is excellent. I will not change doctors until he retires, which I hope is not soon. Dr. Wool is one of the most compassionate, empathetic, caring, doctors I've ever had. He spends time with his patients and listens and talks. Of course, there are times when he is busy and rushed, but that is the nature of any medical practice (really any business) because there is only so much time in the day. Dr. Wool has answered my calls after hours and has helped me when prescriptions have run out on a weekend. Dr. Wool's staff is very friendly and I like them as people. They are helpful and they also care very much. There is an element of disorganization. Sometimes it's difficult to get through to the office because they are busy. Some medications are more difficult to fill, so the patient has to be a little bit proactive to ensure they don't run out if that is a concern. (Some medications are highly regulated and the government requires jumping through hoops and Dr. Wool and his staff cannot do anything to change that.) You'll always get what you need, it just requires a little bit of patience. When a doctor is compassionate and caring, time becomes an issue so a delay in getting results from blood work may be delayed. Of course, my experience is that if there is anything to be concerned about he will contact you right away. Otherwise, no news is generally good news. Depending on your insurance plan, you likely can log into a website (or use an app) to view your blood work and then can call with questions. It can be frustrating, especially if you are someone who wants to know the good news right away. You have to decide what is best for you. If you want an overworked doctor who spends 3 minutes with you and never remembers who you are when he walks in, but who has 30 staff members who do all the work and will call you (pronouncing your name wrong) immediately to tell you your cholesterol is high, Dr. Wool is not for you. If you care more about having a doctor (and staff) who knows you personally and takes time, whenever possible, to listen and talk with you, than you do about militant organization, then Dr. Wool is for you. This is a relationship and every good relationship requires a little patience, even from the patient.

Within the first 2 weeks of seeing Dr. Wool, he diagnosed me with walking pneumonia. Within 1 month, I was cured and on my way to good health! I have had several other issues that have come up and Dr. Wool has been spot on with diagnosing the problem and getting me treated in a timely fashion. Every time I see him, he asks questions that most other doctors have never asked me before. He is very professional and has a wonderful bed side manner. His office staff is cheery and informative. I've been tired all my life since 4th grade and it turns out I have had undiagnosed sleep apnea for a very long time without proper medical equipment to help me get a full night's rest. I was "lazy" to them. Others understood I think... I clearly understand that I met remarkable counselors there. Some I disappointed, some emitting false compassion or even apathy. Fortunately it was the nice handful of counselors that I knew wanted me to make it. Unfortunately I dismissed and took for granted their persistent helping hand. I truly commend and honor Ms. Antonia, Orlando, Trey, Brittany, Patty, and Leah. They are the only reasons why I'm giving 4 stats instead of 2. It is so true what they say - Through failure , even a couple dozen failures plus a willing mind comes success. I fumbled so badly here, left AWOL twice and never came back. I tried to come back but I was not wanted or welcomed. That's fine. I learned from those two experiences nonetheless. On a side note, the guys are so bleeding horny, they can come off as rapey off site, away from the facility. Also, the females clients love frivolous drama and no wonder they go out and relapse almost as pitiful as I did relapse. If they focused more on themselves than others, specifically other females, they could discover themselves and only themselves.
