I am rating Dr. Wool and his office with 5-Starts under the "totality of the circumstances scale." If Yelp allowed for a rating system that was broken down into categories, you would see that there are issues that one will encounter, but with regard to the most important of them, Dr. Wool is excellent. I will not change doctors until he retires, which I hope is not soon. Dr. Wool is one of the most compassionate, empathetic, caring, doctors I've ever had. He spends time with his patients and listens and talks. Of course, there are times when he is busy and rushed, but that is the nature of any medical practice (really any business) because there is only so much time in the day. Dr. Wool has answered my calls after hours and has helped me when prescriptions have run out on a weekend. Dr. Wool's staff is very friendly and I like them as people. They are helpful and they also care very much. There is an element of disorganization. Sometimes it's difficult to get through to the office because they are busy. Some medications are more difficult to fill, so the patient has to be a little bit proactive to ensure they don't run out if that is a concern. (Some medications are highly regulated and the government requires jumping through hoops and Dr. Wool and his staff cannot do anything to change that.) You'll always get what you need, it just requires a little bit of patience. When a doctor is compassionate and caring, time becomes an issue so a delay in getting results from blood work may be delayed. Of course, my experience is that if there is anything to be concerned about he will contact you right away. Otherwise, no news is generally good news. Depending on your insurance plan, you likely can log into a website (or use an app) to view your blood work and then can call with questions. It can be frustrating, especially if you are someone who wants to know the good news right away. You have to decide what is best for you. If you want an overworked doctor who spends 3 minutes with you and never remembers who you are when he walks in, but who has 30 staff members who do all the work and will call you (pronouncing your name wrong) immediately to tell you your cholesterol is high, Dr. Wool is not for you. If you care more about having a doctor (and staff) who knows you personally and takes time, whenever possible, to listen and talk with you, than you do about militant organization, then Dr. Wool is for you. This is a relationship and every good relationship requires a little patience, even from the patient. read more

Dr. Wool saved my health - literally. I was going to see another doctor in Century City who, over the course of 6 months, kept prescribing me antibiotics for a sinus infection. After being so sick for so long, I decided to research another doctor through my health insurance company so I could get a second opinion. That is how I found Dr. Wool. Within the first 2 weeks of seeing Dr. Wool, he diagnosed me with walking pneumonia. Within 1 month, I was cured and on my way to good health! I have had several other issues that have come up and Dr. Wool has been spot on with diagnosing the problem and getting me treated in a timely fashion. Every time I see him, he asks questions that most other doctors have never asked me before. He is very professional and has a wonderful bed side manner. His office staff is cheery and informative. I can't stress enough how much of a positive experience I have had in my time with Dr. Wool over the last year. I won't be seeing another doctor anytime soon!!! read more

I used to see Dr. Wool for for various health concerns. Each time after minimal discussion he told me that he knows exactly what was wrong. Each time the only thing exactly wrong was him. He mis-diagnosed me on three separate occasions with potentially (not likely, but potentially) life-threatening results (and I did wind up spending a few days in the hospital, though not in his care, on one occasion). Twice the diagnoses was 'oh it isn't that serious' when in fact it was. The other time it was 'you aren't sleeping well because you are overweight and have sleep apnea.' Well, I was not fat, the sleeping problems predated the minimal weight gain (about 10 lbs), and per the tests I had to go through, I did not have sleep apnea. But I never got an actual, viable, correct diagnosis or help. Medically, that is enough for me to find a new doctor. Professionally, the frequent switches in office space (which were not always confirmed prior to appointment by staff) was also a frustration when I saw him. read more

Dr. Wool is a wonderful doctor to have and I have already recommended him to many of my family and friends. He likes to answer all the patients questions and takes time getting to know them. I never felt rushed or even think he was skipping over things. Dr. Wool is wise with all his extensive experiences that he is able to really help his patients. Alright, so its not a fancy office with a crazy view of LA, but really thats not what you should be coming for. I know Dr. Wool now for a few years and he has been able to help me much better than previous doctors, so no I don't care that some of the rooms might be small, its actually quite cozy. To top it all off, its not just Dr. Wool, but his entire staff are so friendly, extremely helpful, and know how to treat their patients. Like I said, I am so glad I have found Dr. Wool! He is the best, try him and you'll see for yourself! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Wool's for nearly two years now. I can count on him anytime of the day or night and he will always answer my calls. He is a very intelligent Doctor and he was the ONLY Doctor that was able to find out what medical problems i had in less then two weeks. He is an amazing doctor and i highly recommend him to anyone. His staff is very friendly and always on top of things i haven't had any complaint from anyone. read more

G Michael Wool, MD - Internal Medicine Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

This is absolutely the least professional Doctor, and most incompetent office staff I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I came in from a referral from a therapist because this doctor happens to be able to prescribe a particular medication. I had an appointment, yet was taken into the room an hour after that appointment and not before a walk in. Then, with what appeared to be 3 people in the office, it took another 45 minutes to see the doctor. After going through an invasive physical and exhaustive blood panel(not his fault, I understand it's procedure), he finds out I'm in entertainment. At that point starts giving me his resume and letting me know about his work in cosmetics. He tried to sell me Botox because of a line in my forehead!! From there the problems just got worse. The prescription was filled for a 30 day supply, with no refills, forcing me to interact with the office. I have no idea why he wrote it this way, it isn't a controlled substance nor would it have any value on the street. It's completely useless to anyone but me. The first time I needed a refill, I called the office for a total of 5 days, probably 7 calls and 3 messages before getting a return phone call. The receptionist finally refilled it on the spot. The next morning at 4am, I get a phone call from Dr. Wool, waking myself and my 2 year old. I let it go to voicemail. He was assuring me the prescription was filled and everything was ok.... ..... Thanks.. Once again, had to have it filled. I called, early in the morning, this time getting an answer. I was told it would be called in. I showed up 6pm after driving an hour in traffic to the pharmacy only to find out it hadn't been called in. Obviously the office was closed, so I left a frustrated voicemail.. To which, the next day well Into the afternoon, I, shockingly didn't get a call back. When I expressed my concerns after finally reaching the office, the woman answering the calls was rude and dismissive.. His office looks like a storage locker for a law firm from the 80's. The staff has no idea what is going on. You're asking for an abhorrent experience with this Doctor and his staff. Just go somewhere else. read more

Dr. Wool is an excellent physician. I recommend him as a PCP. I am a low maintenance patient who does general check ups and has no health issues. I think if this is what you need he is excellent. I take responsibility for my own health and set up and follow up on my regular visits. I was able to get my blood results within a few days and ask questions regarding them. Dr. Wool responded quickly. He is great at following up with any medication needs. Another time I had hip pain and he suggested an orthopedic specialist to further investigate. Recently, I went to him because I wanted to lose 10lbs before my wedding and he was able to consult with me. He guided me through a healthy 1200 calorie diet and exercise regimen. Overall his consultations are through and I can ask questions which he is able to explain medically and in laymen terms. He is also a very kind and warm physician. His staff is responsive if you as a patient are kind. I didn't understand why some of the patients who YELPED were so upset. I appreciate Dr. Wool and his kind responsive staff. read more

I was reluctant to take heed from the yelp reviews given that this is a doctor's office and not a nail salon but be forewarned! This was the worst experience I ever had with a doctor's office. On my initial check up appointment he left me in the examining room (nude under a paper robe) for 45 minutes! I called the office number three times before anyone answered and after I reminded them that he had a patient waiting he came in giggling that he forgot I was there... red flag #1! None of my health concerns were addressed or answered. They never even called to tell me they received my blood work or to set up an appointment to discuss the results. I had to call them two weeks later and ask about my blood work. Their excuse? He was on vacation. Terrible customer service and zero follow up. The office is old and dated. They do not validate. I could go on but I think I've made my experience clear. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Wool for many years. Every time I have a health issue, I can call him and count on him to be responsive. He is a very talented and knowledgeable physician. Highly recommended! read more

Sadly I must say goodbye. At first my relationship with Dr. Wool was good because he was better than my previous Primary Care Physician. He helped me with my Thyroid. I am not big to take medication and he was very good at explaining to me where my T3 and T4s were on eraser board he has in the examining room. However, in recent years, my patience has completely been drained out of me. Every bad review I have read, I can relate to. It is true. The silver-lining? I have learned to be an advocate for my health. He is hesitant to refer you out. Prescribes blood work and doesn't follow up with the results. Cancels your appointments or forgets you are scheduled- and then next thing you know you have another health issue and whatever you initially came out for never gets treated. You are left in the dark and trying to figure things out on your own. He says one thing while examining you, tells you what he will prescribe and then you leave without the referral, follow up appointment etc. It's just a joke. I have to be my own nurse and remind his staff what was said so that it all gets properly handled. If you are his patient, YOU NEED to call his office and be your own advocate about everything from setting up an appointment to following up your own health issues. When you call his office to follow up on your last appointment and blood work, he will not speak to you, he makes you make an appointment to let you know you are fine! What a waste of time, money, and not to mention the unnecessary commute in LA Traffic! I am with Cedars-Sinai and there is a link wherein you can literally follow-up, converse with your doctors, sadly enough Dr. Wool - the most important doctor in my health panel - doesn't use this feature or answer his emails if you email him! His office is the worst about (1) answering the phone (2) relaying messages (3) following up with the pharmacist on your prescription if there has been one. On many occasions, I have seen him early in the day, said my prescription would be called in, doesn't do refills, and then ends up being after 6PM and no call into the pharmacy. I have learned to take notes during my visits so that we can be focused. His waiting time is ridiculous. I was involved in a car accident in 2014 - I have been having serious headaches, snapping and he has failed to get me a CT Scan or MRI. I saw him days after my accident he forgot to refer me. After 15 years I left my corporate job and had no insurance, when I got insurance I went back to follow up on my medical issues - I hear crickets. I am an enigma. I show up for a new symptom, he neglects the old one. The straw that broke the camel's back . . . My latest health issue, I have gained over 25 lbs. in the last year and began to have weird jelly like swelling in my arms and legs. Inexplicable weight gain, said I have myxedema and it should go away in a few days, won't give me a diuretic. Meanwhile, I am left with pain, and heavy feeling. or the obvious something is very wrong due to the size of my stomach and I am not pregnant but look like I am 9 months pregnant! Still waiting for a referral to see a gastro specialist! I sought an acupuncturist because I am cold in my legs and arms! Clearly, I am having circulation problems. My last visit was on 10/31/16. I was bed ridden due to the "myxedema", I called him and was surprised that (1) he called me right back! (2) I could see him on the same day!!! He made my appointment at 3PM, I went. When I arrived, his door was closed. I knocked really hard, he opened the door and told me that he was just about to leave and had forgotten all about my appointment!!!! That his staff was at a seminar so they left early. . . . during my visit - ordered - again -- a ton of tests. I had to call him back on the 3rd day to (1) get my test results (2) tell him that my legs were all bruised up and that I was still in a lot of pain (per his instructions - call him back if anything changes or happens) and . . . he puts me on hold to review my test results, says that I am 'perfect' - Now I am no doctor, but I don't feel perfect, look perfect or remotely think I am perfect! . . . I ask myself, then why am I retaining water and losing circulation?!? So then I check the cslink and see my own test results, says that I have cardiovascular risk according to the guidelines and my hemoglobins are high!! My life depends on you and you clearly aren't taking my symptoms serious. Aside from the fact that I am in severe discomfort! read more

I can't stress enough how unprofessional this doctor is. Follow through is non-existant. Malpractice insurance is a must for this doctor! I would never ever recommend him to anybody! Level of care is below any standard. read more

Dr. Wool is completely unprofessional and dismissive. He and his office make zero effort to follow up. They are lazy with scheduling tests and labs. They confused me with other patients on the phone on several occasions. His office took days to return phone calls in regards to an urgent matter. They then lied about putting in a request for a health insurance authorization that was urgent. They never apologized, and acted inconvenienced to do any work to fix their mistake. Dr. Wool is dismissive and extremely impatient. He's reluctant to get on the phone, and even more reluctant to remain on the phone to answer questions. Save yourself the pain and find another doctor. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. And a lazy, lazy office. read more

I feel awkward writing a review about a doctor because they know so much more than me, but I want to warn people of what I wish I warned before I came here. The experience was okay, but the place was just so strange. The office was in an office building, but you had to walk past the open doored water closet to get there... The office was almost like a closet itself! It was awkward, small and felt a little dirty. I just didn't feel comfortable there at all. read more

I've had mostly negative experiences with Dr. Wool's office. His one assistant will never call you back. The only way to communicate with his office is to get the assistant on the phone. Then, if she says she'll call you back, make sure that you either stay on the line or ask her when YOU can call HER back. I've had a few positive experiences with Dr. Wool; however, I've had some on-going problems and have wanted to see two different specialists, and he has been resistant to this. He has been incapable of diagnosing the problem himself and keeps having me come back. It's very frustrating and time-consuming. I wouldn't recommend going to him. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. read more

This doctor is a fraud. He claims on every bio to be board certified in internal medicine, and he's NOT. That's the same as claiming a degree that you don't have. G Michael Wool, MD - NOT BOARD CERTIFIED - Internal Medicine Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

I have been a patient of Dr. Wool's since the early 90s. He has been my Doctor through many changes and transitions in my life. I am grateful to have had him as my PCP consistently through the years. He has always been caring and compassionate. He puts a human face on medicine. I have repeatedly gone back to him after insurance changes and changed insurance to keep him as my physician. His attention to detail and his knowledge of his craft are his strongest points. He also will tell you if something is beyond his expertise and refer you to someone else. I can't understand the negative posts here. I have referred friends to him who have always had positive experiences with him. He does have a rotating staff and some are better than others. Parking isn't bad, just park at the BH city lot and walk down. read more

Was assigned to dr wool through my HMO when my previous PCP retired. I'm glad I was as he is a very good doctor. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Office is small and he is a one man show (along with his 2-3 nurses/staff) but the wait times have not been bad. Parking can be a pain but what do you expect in that area. Overall I am very happy with dr wool. read more

Where do I even begin. After almost 4 years of tolerating this absolutely incompetent doctor's office from the staff to the most UNPROFESSIONAL doctor I have ever encountered in my life, my family and I are finally switching physicians. This past incident was the last straw and I do not even know how to put in words how angered I am. After visiting the ER 3 times while out of town for severe abdominal pain, I called Dr. Wool for some guidance on whether I should wait for a referral to see a specialist as it was a Sunday or if I should be admitted to the hospital and see a specialist right away. His response was "Are you sure this isn't Psychological?" I ended up being admitted to the hospital and spent two nights there so no it was not psychological. I unfortunately had to have a follow up appointment with him after my hospitalization only for him to laugh about my diagnosis, which I will not disclose. I then began to tell him that I do not appreciate how insensitive he was about my situation and he said if we don't get along you are more than welcome to find another physician. After my appointment I was looking at his notes from our visit and WITHOUT even examining me or conducting any tests he decided to diagnose me with some personality disorder on my cs link. Who made him a Psychologist all of a sudden and how does he have the right to diagnose me with something that he did not conduct any tests on??? This is an illegal practice by the way and I WILL be taking legal action. BEWARE of this doctor. If you have any other options I would pick any doctor but this one. read more

Dr. Wool is one of the best doctors my family and I know! If you are looking for a compassionate Doctor that actually cares for you, then I recommend him 100% He has been my grandmother's PCP for 2 years and thank God! Why is this important you may ask? Well, before Dr Wool became my grandma's physician, she was being "treated" by some idiot! Who literally told the family, my grandma only had a few months left. Then, we found Dr Wool, he took her as his patient and we went from a "few months" to 2years later and still counting, thank God! If you expect to be treated as a human being, talk to your doctor about your concerns, have him actually know your name and your face, then look no more, he's the perfect Doctor for you and/or your family. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Wool for the first time today due to a network change and I needed a full physical. He is an amazing doctor, super bright, with amazing bed side manners and in 2 minutes I felt I was in the best possible hands. He listens and he asks all the pertinent questions. The office is very nice and his staff was amazing from the moment I walked in not to mention that his assistant knows how to take blood with no pain to you. I am grateful to be in such amazing hands. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled! Dr Wool is amazing! A true genius! If there was a real Dr House he would be him! I have been coming to him for over 20 years as has my mother and father as well as my sister. He can diagnose anything. I have gone to specialists throughout the years for problems (I always thought you had to go to a nose doctor if you had a problem with your nose or an ear doctor for your ears, etc) and half the time they weren't able to figure out what was wrong. I go to him for my annual complaining that something's not right and the "expert" couldn't figure it out and he just figures it out on the spot! It's remarkable. I am so glad he is my doctor and my families! In time of sickness I want a doctor like him caring for my family or myself!! Highly recommend! read more

THE WORST DR. THAT YOU CAN FIND!!! Incompetent, would not give you a referral to a specialist no matter what. I had horrible pain and I needed a referral, I practically had to beg him... I had a history of skin cancer and I noticed something unusual on my skin. Asked him for a referral to dermatologist, he said it's nothing just by looking at it (no tests, no examination...). The staff is as incompetent as the Dr. I scheduled appointments and when I would come they did not had record of it. Never return phone calls. I send few e-mails, more than 4 months ago, still waiting for the response. I never heard of that I need to make an appointment to see a DR to check my lab results. I guess he wants to collect more money. RIDICULOUS!!! He basically diagnose you without any tests, etc. It is time to say "Good Buy, incompetent Dr. Wool" who also claims that he is Board Certified (he is not!!!). Beware of Dr. Wool!!! read more

Dr. Wool is the best. He identified a series of problems other doctors missed and saved my life when others said, "He should get his affairs in order." He advocated for me at every turn during a full month at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. He investigated many possible factors before deciding what to do. One day I had a serious emergency in the hospital, and he worked to help me from 5pm until after midnight to make sure I got proper tests and proper care. He communicated with a team of four physicians who were responsible for my care, and he made sure that all of them communicated with one another about my treatment. He is a superb diagnostician. He responds quickly to my questions. I can't imagine anyone writing anything but a 5-star review. read more
