But the reception manager Shelley's actions are unacceptable. After switching providers in Bakersfield, my new doctor faxed a records request five weeks ago--I saw the fax confirmation. Shelley ignored it, lied in an email to me claiming she never got it, and even after I emailed her last week demanding she notify my doctor by the next day, she didn't call (I even gave her the information). My new doctor confirmed yesterday they've received anything. When I left a message and confronted Shelley, I demanded to speak to Dr. Etehad. He claimed he didn't get the request, clearly protecting her despite the fax proof AND EMAIL with my new doctors information excusing her delay that's stalling my care. My new doctor's office is confused why only Shelley handles records releases. Shelley's done this before. For my annual mammogram with prescribed ultrasound, she told radiology only one breast was approved, forcing me to choose--shocking their manager. When I needed my file for housing paperwork, she refused, then made me wait 15 minutes while she dawdled. For over a decade, I've endured Shelley's rude, condescending attitude toward me and others. Dr. Etehad seems aware but won't fire her. Shelley's lies and HIPAA violations risk patient health. I'm reporting to the California Medical Board. Avoid this practice until she's gone!

Mission City Community Network has been my mental healthcare provider for almost a year now and I wanted to provide feedback on their excellent care. Firstly, I'm NEVER kept waiting more than 5 minutes for any appointments. Typically, within 5 minutes of checking in, I'm either called to assess vitals before seeing my psychiatrist, Joanna, or in to see my therapist, Marilu. I see Marilu Sanchez regularly for therapy and she is by far the best therapist I've ever had! She's understanding, great at listening and an actual HUMAN BEING--meaning, she's not just a rock that you talk to, she actually talks back! :) Lol. She's got a great personality and it's been a pleasure getting to see her every few weeks. Joanna Reyes is my psychiatrist and although I only get to see her via TeleHealth (computerized webcam software that allows her to see patients from multiple MCCN - Mission City Community Network locations), she has been an incredible help to me, finding the right medication and appropriate amount to treat my mental health issues. She always greets me with a smile and asks how I'm doing, about the holidays/plans for the week, etc. She's not just some psychiatrist that doles out prescriptions based on advisement from their networked therapist, she actually creates conversation and advises accordingly. Sometimes I have scheduling conflicts and cancelling appointments isn't difficult. The receptionists who reschedule my appointments communicate with my psychiatrist/therapist-psychologist and let them know so they can adjust accordingly. It's nice being a patient at a network that actually communicates internally rather than me having to remember to call everyone involved individually and repeat myself. The nurses that assess my vitals before seeing Joanna are usually very sweet and conversational. The office receptionists are always polite and remember my name. There's even one receptionist that has the same birthday as I do and she knows my voice even when I call the office to schedule an appointment. It's awesome having a fellow birthday-buddy. :-)
