To find this location when you get off the freeway it's on Colorado with a sign pointing to the entrance. You keep driving in and you'll see a similar sign for waste drop-off. They are opened weekends, much better than other locations which open once every few months. They adhered to COVID safety. Everyone is masked up. They ask that you have your waste in the trunk of the car and they take it from the car for you. Very easy and very safe.

This is the closest S.A.F.E. (Solvents/ Automotive/ Flammables/ Electronics) Center near Pasadena and I love it! They take a lot of hazardous household waste items like oils, paints, aerosols, batteries, light bulbs, and electronics. (check the website: https://bit.ly/2S3khog) They will even take car gas...just put it in a container you don't want back. They do also take sharps (needles) and they gave me a medical container to put them in. I used to go frequently, like every time I had a small box of batteries and bulbs, but it seemed like they wanted me to wait until I had more. It's a little hassle to store up a bunch of waste so that you have a lot of it but I didn't want to get on their bad side. So just be aware you may get that comment. For a free service, this is an awesome place to ease your environmentally-friendly heart. I wish I knew where all this stuff goes but for now it's a temporary solution to preventing this crap from going to the landfills. Let's do our part!

Quick and easy disposal. You just pull your car in and the folks working there take cadre of everything.

Very organized and efficient. I was glad I had a place to recycle my old TV in a legal and environmentally sound way. Took no time at all!

Ask the Community - Safe Collection Center

When is this location going to re-open?

Do they take old knives?

why would you do that??

Hi I was wondering if it's free to make any drop off ? Thanks

Yes it is free. But they have a "15 gallon" limit. They include your e-waste "tv, microwave, computer, etc." as part of the 15 gallons.

Do they accept just trash (cans, plastic, paper, food waste)?

NO. They only take household hazardous items like weed killer, used oil, car batteries, etc. and e-waste like old tv, microwave, computers, etc.

Why is this place always closed? What are their hours?

9 to 3 Sat and Sun.

Do they accept Car Gas ⛽️?

Yes they do. Bring it in a container you don't want back.

Happy Earth Day, 2026!…read more Did you know that humans produce over 460 million metric tons of plastic every year? After learning this, the first thought that came to my mind was 'This is a huge number! How much actually is this?' Consider this: This is more weight than the weight of the Eiffel Tower (Paris), Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco), Brooklyn Bridge (New York), Empire State Building (New York), Statue of Liberty (New York), Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt), Burj Khalifa (Dubai), Space Needle (Seattle), Tokyo Skytree (Japan), The Pentagon (Virginia), and the Great Wall of China, ALL COMBINED, TIMES SEVEN! That's A LOT of plastic! Worse yet, we produce this amount of plastic EVERY year, and studies predict that it takes approximately 450 years for a plastic bottle to decompose in a landfill. That means that the plastic bottle that you throw in the trash will still be there for approximately 18 generations of your descendants after you. If you don't recycle, you are literally trashing our planet for your own offspring! And, Earth is the only planet that we know of that is capable of supporting life. OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. Aside from trying to be a good citizen of planet Earth, I also recycle because I could always use some extra cash. I can usually pocket around $20 for every visit I make here, which really helps because I am certainly not a rich man. This particular location is a great option for recycling, here at "Benites Recycling," located just behind Bob's Market (Lancaster, California). I've been to this location several times. The money you receive by recycling here is similar to what you will receive at other nearby recycling centers. There are three things I like about this location in particular, as follows: (1) they typically do not require you to show your I.D. like they do at some other locations; (2) they use lightweight recycling bins, so they can quickly obtain an accurate weight of your recycling without having to tare the weight of the bins; and (3) the wait here is usually minimal because there are usually less people here than at some of the other recycling centers I have gone to. Although I believe the folks here are honest, the only thing I don't like about this location is how the actual recycling weight is difficult for the customer to see unless the customer walks around the scale and stands next to the employee reading the weight. Aside from this one drawback, I do like coming here for the reasons mentioned above. I'll definitely return to this location in the future. If you don't recycle here, please recycle somewhere.
