We really enjoyed our overnight stay here while traveling. I am a professional cleaner so I have high standards when it comes to my hotel/motel rooms. This place was great! Fresh clean smell as soon as you open the door to your room. Everything was very clean! I even checked the grout lines in the shower and the tiles to see if there was any soap scum buildup. NADA! Nothing better than a clean place to lay your head! Quiet little spot to stay that will even except your pets. Not to mention the beds were really comfortable too and the pillows fluffy. Stayed here one night with my two dogs. All of the motels near the interstate have inside corridors, which are a pain when one is traveling with pets. It was great to find this place, where I could back my vehicle right up to the door. The motel is older, but well maintained. I got the impression that the women at the front desk is also the owner and lives on-sit. She told me she is originally from Poland - which explains why the place was spotless. Stopped here last night after driving through a crazy snowstorm. It was after midnight and we were just relieved to find a place to stop for the night. But it was an unexpected delight! The room was a retro-lover's dream come true, perfectly clean and well-maintained. It took us back to the good old days, and fascinated our daughter, especially the groovy light switches. We also appreciated the free continental breakfast, which went until 10 am. Love these mom and pop places, they are much more interesting and charming than the chain hotels. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Safari Motel after a 13 hour drive to Denver. From the outside, the hotel is rather bland, but this is to be expected from an antique motel. The owner at the front desk was polite and quickly met our needs with a king sized bed, non-smoking. The door seemed very secure and had updated locks. The room is a typical motel - type layout with mini-fridge and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room was extremely clean. The free breakfast is basically comprised of gas station pastries and orange juice. All in all, we paid around $65 for the night and we're pleasantly surprised. This isnt the Hilton, but you get more than what you pay for. Definitely recommend to stop here if you are just needing a bed and shower for a night. read more

Safari Inn was a good place to spend the night and affordably priced. Quick check in, quiet spot and plenty dark. The king bed was extremely comfortable and there were no weird scents in the room or on our linens. As a bath lover, I was disappointed to find their tub was baby sized...I wish I'd taken a photo of it. Basically, it's like a shower stall width/length, but deep enough to still be a bath tub. I'm an average sized woman so I could comfortably sit in it, but there was no room to stretch out my legs (AT ALL), it felt like trying to bathe in a larger than normal Rubbermaid storage box. Fortunately it was also a shower. Continental breakfast was pretty good for a motel like this, they had hard boiled eggs, pastries/bagels with cream cheese, orange juice & coffee. It served its purpose and is in walking distance to a c-store and small grocery store. read more

Run by a nice Polish family, this place is kept clean and well maintained. With no discounts, I paid $79 for a cool retro room that was surprisingly clean. The pool and garden area make you think you're at a friends house, instead of a roadside hotel. They grow tomatoes, beans, peppers, and greens in a really cool garden surrounded by Foxgloves, right next to the pool. The rooms have a sweet little "chalet type" window at the ceiling line, and a very useful built-in bench for luggage and gear that runs along one wall. There is also a old style control board by the bed with switches that control all the lights in the bedroom and bath. Complete with HBO, free WiFi and a Jackalope at the check-in desk....for the price and location this is a great place to rest and wash some of the road off yourself. read more

After driving 16 hours, I just wanted a clean and comfortable place to stay. Beds are very comfortable. Room was very clean, no weird smells. I even remove the bedding and pillows and check really well for bugs. Clean bill there. Only negative I have is Wi-Fi is very patchy. Been here several hours so far and have yet to connect to my phone but it mostly stays connected to my tablet. Owner was very friendly and I'd recommend this if you're looking for a clean place to stay. read more

Clean and very affordable motel (especially with AAA discount). First room we were offered smelled a bit funky (maybe smokey) but they offered us another room no problem. Breakfast was nothing special but the k cup coffee was nice. For the price, it was perfectly nice. read more

Clean room, comfy bed, the bathroom was a pretty good size and they had magazines and pamphlets at the front of things to do in Colorado :) Our room was just as nice as most of the more expensive hotels we stayed at. The only thing here not as nice was the breakfast, which to be honest, I'd rather just go out and buy something at the store :) so it worked out. Great place to stay! I really wanted to love this place, from the Yelp reviews. Instead, I just liked it. I do think I'm here in something of an off season, for what it's worth. I would come back, just because I know what I'm going to get and it's not bad. I've stayed in my share of kooky Colorado mountain town motels, and this is just like all of them. I paid $60 for a queen in October. The desk is staffed by a nice Polish man who took a reservation earlier in the day by first name only. That was cool. I'm driving west across country in October. I drove an extra hour to stop here, thinking Safari would be some cool exotica themed motel. It's not, aside from the name. It's just a motel. An old one, but they have done a good job keeping it updated and, more importantly, clean. I was dearly hoping to turn the key and flick on the lights and see a zebra print bedspread. Instead, it was the usual motel digs. It smelled strongly like fresh paint in my room, which is both unpleasant and a sure sign that they are keeping up appearances. They do run a good color palette here- mints and pinks and eastern european patterning. There was a problem with flies in the room, which was probably a fluke, due to the season and weather. They are probably everywhere around here, and trying to come in to avoid the cold. I did have to spend 20 minutes whomping those suckers. I'm sure if I'd said something, the staff would have moved me. I slept very well. The lot seems very safe as well. I have my life in my car right now. Nothing to report. The town is actually a strip of (I think I read) 13 motels, all original era Motor Hotels. Pretty sure they all have nebulous adventure names. I'm sure there's a "Starlight", and maybe another with "Palm" in the name. In October at 7pm on a Thursday, they were all in various degrees of "Meh, are we open?". Safari seemed like the "most open" motel I drove past, and they advertise on I-70. I took a star off for the age, and a star off for the random fly situation, but overall, I would come back here. read more

Very rude service. We were carrying our things out half an hour before checkout, and the maid walked in while we were taking our time packing. She started turning off the things we were using, like the heater. I happily blasted it back on because it's cold and we paid for it. Do not enter a room when someone has paid for it. We don't stay in motels / hotels often but were too exhausted to continue driving late last night. This is the nicest motel we've stayed at in a long time, especially for the price. We usually bring our sleeping bags into motel rooms & sleep on top of the sheets but that wasn't necessary here! Clean room, friendly staff & even a cute little dog! This hotel was so great! It was a little out of the way, but well worth the few extra minutes to stay. It's clean and the bed was very comfortable. The owners are a very nice Russian couple who made sure we had everything we needed. The man was kind and very welcoming when we came in late at night. The hotel had several awards hanging on the wall in the front office. One for christmas decorations and one for landscaping. Based on the room we stayed in, I'm sure the awards were well deserved. We will stay here again on our way back home. It's nice to get excellent customer service and this hotel deserves an A+ for that! read more

I've stayed at many hotels in both big cities and small communities. I was really impressed with he Safari Inn. It is obviously a hotel hat was built in the 1950's or 1960's but has been upgraded. It is very clean, awesomely comfortable beds and just very clean (yes I know I said that twice). I would hands down recommend this hotel over the big chain hotels and the cost of he room was very reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

We found this motel in an online search. Although reviews were good we really didn't know what to expect at this low price. What a wonderful gem. Check in was smooth and an AARP discount is available. The room came with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer at no additional cost. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean...including linens. The only reason I didn't give 5 star was the tub was short and no lotion or conditioner was found. Read lots of good things about this place so made a reservation 3 wks before my road trip. Arrived here at 9:30 after driving 8 plus hrs from Kansas City and no one responded to the office bell. Telephoned the motel from the lobby and Finally a man emerged from the back, mussed and groggy. Ended up he " made a mistake" and " he DID have a room "but the people didn't check out"! Pretty frustrating... Asked us to wait a bit but came back with no ideas. Didn't offer to find us a room and after 4 motels with no vacancies, we fortunately found a room. read more

It's a small town with many hotels. This hotel is old like almost all of them in town, but it is one of the cleanest I have been to in a long time, and the staff is very accommodating. My car broke down here so I was stuck in town for three days. The owner drove me to the other side of town to try different restaurants. They are helpful and friendly. read more

Great place for all - especially ones with small children. Out front there is a small playground and in-ground pool that is keep very nice. You can tell the owners really strive to take care if the place; it appeared they wee working on adding a new fence around the pool for safety reasons. We arrived late at night after calling ahead to make a reservation - they were very accommodating. The rooms were clean, though apparently had some use, but this is to be expected since It looks like many stop here due to necessity or reputation. The bathroom was especially clean.
