Last rest area in Colorado if heading east. Fills up at night but has a lot of room. Very clean.

His behavior is unacceptable, he was unprofessional and tried to use cowardly threatening when I pointed out several important health violations like -HAIR IN FOOD... I've only been here for the salad bar, sadly. The first visit I was paining to eat a meal but the brunette waitress was extremely rude to everyone and was trying to take more table than she could leaving me eating the salad bar , waiting to order for 30 minutes. Finally a tall blonde waitress comes and apologizes saying ' this shouldn't have happened' . I said no problem let me just pay for the salad bar , I'll grab my main meal elsewhere. Here comes Nathan , calling customers a spic, others as dirty truckers, it was weird ; he was walking around just hugging and puffing. I came back a second time thinking Nathan and the one rude waitress has to be an anamoly. Some weird situation that WOULD NEVER repeat itself in the real world. Well, once again came to get a salad and food, no severs anywhere, Nathan came out to handle the candy counter. I know he's mad he's like 50 and seems so upset he has to sell peanut butter cups to truckers and travelers. But.. that doesn't take away that there was a big BLACK hair in the middle of my salad. I immediately asked for my check and paid and left. When trying to follow-up the next day , Nathan made racial remarks calling me a SPIC, I'm white btw, and that there was a 'bigger' in my car and we wanted free food. I said the only black living thing in my car is my black lab. Wow talk about a crap house. Finally , I told him I'd be following up with management due to him being racist and the way he handled multiple service issues by threatening to call the police because I made the complaint. Just know I always paid my ticket and never asked or accepted anything from this place. I was told the GM , Nikki, would contact me and was told from TA corporate the situation was beyond unacceptable. Really sad and poor experience , dirty lettuce/salad bar and racist and unprofessional NATHAN.

Wow, my yesterday's visit to this historic park was so mesmerizing. It's because of their annual…read more(?) "Bright Nights" (originally a lantern festival.) It is said that they unveil a brand new theme each year and this year's theme appears to be focused on some Eastern cultures such as cherry blossom and bamboo forest with pandas. Not that I have been to many lights shows and yet I must say that I have never seen anything quite like this as far as my recollection is accurate. In its 12-acre land, the installations of lantern lights are everywhere. After 8:30pm or so when it's dark, the illuminations from the lanterns are glowing brighter than Las Vegas' illuminations (LOL - why am I comparing this to Las Vegas!!) According to the park's website, some of the sculptures are 23-foot tall (such as the cherry blossom gate.) It's currently open from Wednesday through Sunday until October 5th. And last night's was one of the adult-only nights where you must be 21+ to enter (I believe the next and last such night is Sept 17th. And this writing is as of late August of 2025.) I am already curious as to what the next year's theme is going to be. There is a centralized bar, some food vendors, a stage where a performer performs, and a DJ booth. Great for family time, girls' night or date night. Helpful staff were working tirelessly to assist all visitors. Although about 1,300 tickets were sold last night, it was never super jammed packed. There is still time to visit this enchanting light show. Not only for the locals but definitely one of the must-visit attractions for out-of-staters as well.

Many of the lanterns were interactive such as stationary bikes or cranks to power the lights to glow even brighter. The staff were friendly and happy to help. This event is for young and old and I highly recommend going!

Twice in two weeks, I (and dozens of other drivers) were stuck behind a KayLee Charters bus/buses…read morethat were traveling in the express lane, northbound I-25 near Monument-Castle Rock, Colorado. Mind you, the toll (express) lane was open, but toll free. Also, bearing in mind that it is illegal in Colorado to travel slower than the speed of traffic in the left-most lanes, that is precisely where the bus was traveling. In this hilly portion of I-25, the buses were not able to keep their speed, at times dropping to less than 60mph in a 75mph zone. This created a lot of havoc and gridlock with other drivers, with many choosing to cross the double white lines of the express lane to get around the slower buses. I called the KayLee home office after the first time this occurred (as an off-duty officer) to report the poor driving of the three buses. I was informed that the drivers were being contacted by radio to vacate the express lanes to curtail the traffic issues they were creating. The three buses instead stayed in the express lane as they continued all the way through Castle Rock, long after the express lane ended. From what I could tell, the buses were fully loaded. Event #2 was approximately 2 weeks later. As I traveled in the express lane on the same roadway with my wife, I noted a single charter bus causing the same issues in the express lane several cars in front of us. This day, there was far less traffic on the Interstate, yet the bus was holding back several dozen cars in the express lane (again, we aren't supposed to cross out of the lane until allowed to do so), and hitting his brakes in response to the drivers not happy with the bus Again, several drivers were going around the bus illegally and unsafely to go on their way. At the end of the express lane, I went into the right lane to get a look at the company name (KayLee Bus J2903, June 10, 2023). The bus driver then abruptly changed lanes nearly striking our vehicle. Thinking I may be in his blind spot I honked my horn to alert him. He stayed partially in my lane, swerving at me, and then laid on his horn for 30 seconds or so at me. As I attempted to get my phone camera on to record the reckless behavior, we waved his hand and stayed on the horn. We are convinced that this driver attempted to force us from my lane in a very careless and reckless manner, even changing lanes several times and speeding near us as the harassment continued. The only positive of this experience was the caveats that he had an empty bus and I also had my forward facing vehicle camera on. I once again tried to contact the company (I was a bit more animated and angry this time) but no one answered nor returned my demand for a follow-up call. If I can keep one person from putting their loved ones on a charter bus owned by Kay-Lee Charters of Denver, then I have made my point. And WHEN something serious happens involving this irresponsible company, I want the investigators to find this review of their past reprehensible behavior to attest that it likely was not simply an accident! (My wife doesn't call me Captain Safety Pants for nothing...)
