What a great old theater! Beautiful and well-appointed, gorgeous interior, and a beautiful proscenium! I was here working with the "Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Evening." It sounded great, and there didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. The staff, both front of house and the stage crew, were spectacular. It looks like a great place to work! There was a bar out front, but I didn't eat or drink anything. What a great venue- Mobile is lucky to have such a storied old theater like this! read more

The old school feel of a theatre it gives. The staff was kind and helpful. There is a concession stand, it offers movie theater kind of snacks, they do offer liquor. Set up was good, where you had a clear view of the stage from whatever you sat and the seating was pretty comfortable. There was only one restroom location for the theatre, so go accordingly, otherwise you will be in long line. Can't leave out the most important INFO: Woman clear bags or no bag. You will be turned around quickly. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Saenger. Staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. Consessions are a bit $, but the service is wonderful, so leaving a tip makes me happy for the service. Ladies' restroom always clean and stocked (as is the men's restroom when it is "managed" for ladies at certain concerts.) My FAVORITE place for concerts etc! Good parking options, and decent/good restaurants really close! read more

We went to see the Rock Orchestra and the show was awesome! The drinks are a bit high, but we go to enjoy. We always enjoy ourselves at the Saenger. We usually use this as a time to dress up and feel good. read more

We were here to see Dirty Dancing in concert. The concert itself was nice. But, as we tried to enter the theater we were told that you can not have any bags except for a clear bag. When they sent the tickets nothing was said about a clear bag policy. We assumed it was maybe a small bag policy. We both had very small clutches and they would not let us in with them. We stayed at the Renaissance and had to walk all the way back to the hotel to put them up! read more

Went here to see Killers of Kill Tony. They have tight security so plan accordingly with your bags, ladies. Security guards were nice and had a good sense of humor. The theatre is beautiful and smaller than I imagined but not cramped. The bathrooms had plenty of stalls, soap, and paper towels.. clean. During the show the power went out for a few minutes but that is the Alabama charm I know and love. By the end of the show, it was a little warm in the theatre but I would rather have it warm than too cold! read more

We had a great experience tonight! We went to Bethoven and Blue Jeans with one of Mobile's favorite guest artists Charlie Albright (Pianist) and of course Scott Speck (Music Director). They are getting back to being fully normal and so they brought back this piece. Parking is in a lot and on the stemreet, there was no valet, hopefully they will have this in the future. The orchestra played very well and were on key and flawlessly segued from one piece to another. The guest artist is talented/gifted and cohesively melded with the orchestra. Absolutely stunning building. So much character in the details of the design. Staff members were in abundance to help us find our seats for the comedy show we attended. Bathrooms were spotless. There were several bar and concession areas, but we didn't use those because we ate dinner just before coming to the show. Our seats were in the upper balcony area. I was worried we wouldn't be able to see, but that wasn't an issue at all. I will say this though--if you're a more heavyset person, balcony seats aren't going to be comfortable to you. The seats themselves, as well as the aisles are extremely narrow. There were some huskier people sitting in the seats a few rows up from us and you could visibly tell they were uncomfortable. Just something to consider if you're reading this and plan to purchase tickets for an event in the future. read more

I visited the Saenger last night to see the Beethoven & Blue Jeans show by the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. The theater is beautiful, of course the details are excellent, and the seating is comfortable. The Saenger is a more intimate space for a show and is a great option for viewing performing arts. I was also pleased with reasonable the price of the tickets. The sound was great and now I'm smitten! (Last night totally reminded me of growing up, going to the theatre to see The Nutcracker annually.) It's been a while, and I'm looking forward to returning ASAP for another show! This is a nice little place to see a concert. However, I did not like how close the seats are. You hardly have any arm room because the seats are so close together. They sale beverages, but there is no place to put them at your seat. They need drink holders like at a movie theater. The place is nice with a relaxing atmosphere. Will be back read more

I absolutely love attending events at the Saenger Theatre. And the Brothers Osborne concert did not disappoint!!! This beautiful historic venue is easy to find, and in the perfect location for some before or after the show food and drinks at the surrounding bars and restaurants. The Saenger itself offers a couple of full bars, and beer concessions. Most of the event staff, who btw are volunteers, are so helpful and nice. If you sit in the balcony area, you should know there is an upstairs bathroom and bar area. Leave your weapons, including pocket knives and pepper spray, in the car. Be prepared to be wanded, and have your bags searched. Also wear comfortable shoes, because you may be standing...a lot! I don't think those Brothers Osborne fans ever sat down! I know I didn't!! It is so much fun when the fans really get into the show and stand the entire time, singing and dancing!!! Also, be sure to check out the Saenger for movie opportunities on the big screen!! read more

This historic old theatre has been on our bucket list for some time now. So has the classic Christmas movie, "It's A Wonderful Life," so when the Saenger played the movie, it was inevitably the time to knock out both things. The entrance to the theatre is grand. You walk in a long, wide foyer, with a beautiful mural of ships in the Bay above the doors, and gorgeous old tile flooring. You feel as though you should be wearing something formal... but you're wearing jeans and a sweater. The theatre room itself is beautiful with gold trim, an extravagant crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a large balcony and side boxes with brass railing. The seats are cushioned and comfortable. The theatre seats about 1,900 people. The concession stand sells liquor, beer and wine, as well as soft drinks and popcorn. My husband bought a double Crown and Coke, a bottled Coke for me, and a bag of popcorn, all for $15. That's super inexpensive, especially for a theater! I think we paid $6 each for tickets to a classic movie. Concerts and plays have reasonable prices for such events. read more

Had tickets for the Scotty McCreery show tonight, but stupidly they scheduled the event for the same evening as 3 Mardi Gras parades and several Mardi Gras balls. Needless to say all of downtown was closed to traffic, parking was non existent and took us one hour just to get back to the interstate. We've been to the venue several times, but this will be the last. I know McCreery's schedule enters into the date of the event, but for the locals to schedule this on this date was asinine. read more

My husband and I visited the Saenger theatre for an evening concert. We had the best time! The atmosphere was very clean and well kept. The volunteers were friendly and many of them were available. We had heard seating "would be tight" but we did not have any issues. A great venue to spend the evening listening to great music. We would return for another show. read more

This is hands down one of my favorite venues in downtown to attend a concert at. The venue has so much charm and is beautiful on it own. The seating is great. The people that work the events (employed and volunteers) are overly helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend checking out this spot if you live or are visiting the area. Saw Scotty McCreery here in Feb 2020. Had front row tickets. Sadly though the "vibe" was not what i was hoping for. No one stood up, which was frustrating after having bought front row tickets. The sound wasn't the best- you couldn't always understand their lyrics and you couldn't here yourself even sing. But Scotty and Adam Doleac had amazing shows and I really enjoyed the night. read more

Visited here to see Robert Plant perform. It's a lovely old theater with a tad under 2000 seats. Acoustics aren't bad, but also not great. At least not necessarily for loud rock music. Our seats were above an exit and midway through the show the exit walkway was getting crowded with people preferring to stand there to watch the show rather than sit in their seats. With the angle of the seating, this crowd of about 12 obstructed our view of the stage. There was no usher or security to clear the area. Aside from an inconvenience it was probably a hazard. Management should work to improve this. read more

Great theater I've enjoyed visiting both times we've been! The seats are a bit small but they have a great layout for entrances/exits as well as bars and bathrooms. I've been to other theaters without the same ease of use as this theater. It's a bit smaller than most but I think it adds to the feeling you get when you are there. Any show I want to see that is town, I will be glad to find out it is at the Saenger! read more

I recently went to the Mobile Saenger Theatre to attend a Mobile Symphony concert with the family. It was my first time, so I didn't know what to expect. I go to the Saenger in Pensacola usually every two months. The lobby looked a bit dated and not as nice as Pensacola's, but the interior seemed to be pretty updated. One thing I like about this theatre is that they use the chandelier to signal to the audience to take their seats - usually only theatres in bigger cities do this. I also liked that the restrooms were quite large, so that there was never a wait at all - even during intermission. We had a great time listening to the Mobile Symphony in the Saenger, and we are already making plans to return. read more

Absolutely the worst concert experience of my life Arrived 30 minutes before the show to find more than 200 in line ahead of me with another 200 or more lining up behind soon after. Everyone had tickets. Only one volunteer in will call. Screening at the door allowed us to move 30' in 30 minutes. Realizing we would never get in by the 8 pm start (which had to have been delayed until 9), we just left. Can't imagine a worse plan to screen people. Avoid at all costs/ read more

I like the Saenger. I love the history of it. It's beautiful. They bring in excellent performers. But today, something happened that I just can't be quiet about. If you sell out of an event during presale, why bother even having a "tickets go on sale" date. Just have a performance by invitation only, the invitation being the presale password. Especially when all the scalper sites had no trouble getting tickets to put up for resale at triple the price. Very uncool! read more

My husband and I went to see Three Dog Night on May 12th. The staff and ushers were very nice and the theater was beautiful and well maintained. Two things happened that gave us a bad experience. First, during the warm up act (who we'd never heard of but was very good), there was a group at the back of the theater that were loud, obnoxious, and very disruptive. The staff didn't do anything to make them settle down or be quiet. Secondly, the sound was awful! Some of the singers sounded like they were singing down a deep hole. Halfway thru the concert, the crowd spoke up, complained, and the issue was fixed. The concert was great from that point forward. I know a bit about music and sound engineering, how do you run a sound board and not hear that things are off? Feel like we missed the whole first half of the show, including the warm up. I hope Three Dog Night was compensated. I felt bad for them because they had no idea what was going on with the crowd. Don't know that we would drive over for another concert there. read more
