Me and a glimpse at the authentic feel of the theatre.

The old school feel of a theatre it gives. The staff was kind and helpful. There is a concession stand, it offers movie theater kind of snacks, they do offer liquor. Set up was good, where you had a clear view of the stage from whatever you sat and the seating was pretty comfortable. There was only one restroom location for the theatre, so go accordingly, otherwise you will be in long line. Can't leave out the most important INFO: Woman clear bags or no bag. You will be turned around quickly.

We went to see the Rock Orchestra and the show was awesome! The drinks are a bit high, but we go to enjoy. We always enjoy ourselves at the Saenger. We usually use this as a time to dress up and feel good.

Beautiful venue with a very beautiful interior. The whole atmosphere was positive and everything about this place is great.

Absolutely stunning building. So much character in the details of the design. Staff members were in abundance to help us find our seats for the comedy show we attended. Bathrooms were spotless. There were several bar and concession areas, but we didn't use those because we ate dinner just before coming to the show. Our seats were in the upper balcony area. I was worried we wouldn't be able to see, but that wasn't an issue at all. I will say this though--if you're a more heavyset person, balcony seats aren't going to be comfortable to you. The seats themselves, as well as the aisles are extremely narrow. There were some huskier people sitting in the seats a few rows up from us and you could visibly tell they were uncomfortable. Just something to consider if you're reading this and plan to purchase tickets for an event in the future.

We had a great experience tonight! We went to Bethoven and Blue Jeans with one of Mobile's favorite guest artists Charlie Albright (Pianist) and of course Scott Speck (Music Director). They are getting back to being fully normal and so they brought back this piece. Parking is in a lot and on the stemreet, there was no valet, hopefully they will have this in the future. The orchestra played very well and were on key and flawlessly segued from one piece to another. The guest artist is talented/gifted and cohesively melded with the orchestra. The whole show was wonderful.

I visited the Saenger last night to see the Beethoven & Blue Jeans show by the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. The theater is beautiful, of course the details are excellent, and the seating is comfortable. The Saenger is a more intimate space for a show and is a great option for viewing performing arts. I was also pleased with reasonable the price of the tickets. The sound was great and now I'm smitten! (Last night totally reminded me of growing up, going to the theatre to see The Nutcracker annually.) It's been a while, and I'm looking forward to returning ASAP for another show! Great night at the Saenger- Mobile!

This historic old theatre has been on our bucket list for some time now. So has the classic Christmas movie, "It's A Wonderful Life," so when the Saenger played the movie, it was inevitably the time to knock out both things. The entrance to the theatre is grand. You walk in a long, wide foyer, with a beautiful mural of ships in the Bay above the doors, and gorgeous old tile flooring. You feel as though you should be wearing something formal... but you're wearing jeans and a sweater. The theatre room itself is beautiful with gold trim, an extravagant crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and a large balcony and side boxes with brass railing. The seats are cushioned and comfortable. The theatre seats about 1,900 people. The concession stand sells liquor, beer and wine, as well as soft drinks and popcorn. My husband bought a double Crown and Coke, a bottled Coke for me, and a bag of popcorn, all for $15. That's super inexpensive, especially for a theater! I think we paid $6 each for tickets to a classic movie. Concerts and plays have reasonable prices for such events.

    front row

Saw Scotty McCreery here in Feb 2020. Had front row tickets. Sadly though the "vibe" was not what i was hoping for. No one stood up, which was frustrating after having bought front row tickets. The sound wasn't the best- you couldn't always understand their lyrics and you couldn't here yourself even sing. But Scotty and Adam Doleac had amazing shows and I really enjoyed the night.

    Should be sitting

Very nice theater except it reminds you of a school auditorium. The seats could use an upgrade. Overall though I had a good time!

This is a VERY COOL venue! I have been to concerts,…read moresymphonies and small venue presentations all over the USA, but I have never been a venue like this. The Listening Room is truly for LISTENING. For a small donation of $20 you are allowed to listen to artists perform in a intimate venue. Prior to the concert, the owner Jim Pennington, informs you of the rules. To paraphrase Jim, "If you want to talk, drink and be rude, go down the street to a bar." I ADORE this concept of "no talking" while someone is performing. How often have you been to a venue where you couldn't hear the performer due to all the background noise? NOT happening here! Jim is the consummate host, selling assorted beverages and CD's of the performer with proceeds going to the artist. I highly recommend this venue to anyone in the Mobile or surrounding area. I do not live locally, only visiting once a year, but TLR has become a "must do" for our trips to Alabama.

What an awesome experience!!! I was invited to join some people for a show at the listening room…read morewhile I was driving through Mobile in June. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the feeling of the listening room was so unique and intimate- I loved it! The artist was a local star, but I knew nothing about him. Every song he played was so personal and wonderful. The crowd was respectful and everyone had their phones away during there concert. I was told that the Listening Room is special in this way, because people go there to listen- not to talk or stare at their phones. The set was almost 2 hours, but it felt much shorter due to the small and intimate space the music was being played in. I seriously loved going to a show at the Listening Room and I'd love to go back if I'm ever in Mobile!

The Listening Room - It's a small but they have good entertainment. A selection of beer is available, but it's mostly for "listening". Sit back and enjoy!
