We drove to the Heritage House thinking we would be able to see the exhibit at 10am. Shame on us for not checking the website! The tickets were sold out until noon. We then bought tickets on line for later in the day. The Heritage House is a beautiful building but not very large. Despite its size they hosted an outstanding exhibit! We learned so much and were really moved by the stories you heard on the free audio guide. We also learned how Africatown was founded. All very interesting. I'm so glad we got to see this. No photography is allowed in the exhibition. They have many outstanding pieces on display as well as very well curated story boards that explain the history of the Clotilda. There is a small gift shop when you enter with a nice array of books, tshirts and jewelry.

The school is nice, the eduacation is good, most of the teachers are very help, etc. The only thing I would have to complain about is how focused it is on sports. Mostly football but sports in general. So much time and focus goes in the sports that the arts are rarely given the support that it needs. I understand how good sports are for students but the arts are just as important for a student to be able to grow. Although the Arts are not as loved as they should be Saraland offers many arts to participate in and that I am extremely grateful for. The only thing I and any of the parents and students are asking for is more support and focus.
