I need a dress drastically taken in slightly complicated with draping in 2 days. I went to a few tailors and was told no even if they had the time due to the nature of the dress. I was quoted an affordable price even with rush! They workers are all kind and sweet. I had some poor time management on my part and waited until two weeks before a wedding I had to bring my dress in for alterations. I needed the sides taken in and straps added using some extra fabric I had. I did have to pay an expedite fee (but again, that was my fault), but they were able to turn the dress around in a week with zero issues. The dress looked great and no one could tell the straps weren't originally meant to be there. The price was very reasonable as well. I have been to Sadie's four times now. When I needed a specific alteration done, they did what I had envisioned/asked for. When I brought in some pieces that didn't look quite right (vintage blazers), they expertly assessed and altered them to fit me perfectly. I ALWAYS get compliments when I'm wearing the clothes they altered! Alterations are expensive in general, but I feel like their prices are either fair or under what I was expecting to pay. I requested an expedited alteration with a five day turnaround. The suit I brought in had not been tailored and fit me when I was much heavier and larger. The employees were very up front with the price and encouraged me to get a new suit if possible. I appreciated this because I was swimming in it and it did need a lot of work. However, I had gotten myself into a situation where I didn't have the option. They went forward with the alterations and provided an excellent service. The up charge for such a quick turnaround was 20% per item being expedited. Which I found completely reasonable especially with the last minute planning on my part.I have not found many alteration services that look at their business so holistically to include the greatest good for the customer at the possible expense of their personal business. I have only gotten one other piece of clothing altered in my life, so a friend recommended this place to bring in a dress that I was going to take graduation pictures in. I acknowledge that the dress itself might have been difficult to alter with difficult zipper location and some weird pleats. I recognize that I don't have the knowledge to say how difficult or expensive the alteration would be. That said, I do know what it feels like to have a good customer experience. When the woman came in when I had the unaltered dress on, she said "wow" in a not so good tone. I said "wow, what?" And she went tugging and pulling back, pinning, etc like you might expect. Eventually she warned me that it would be expensive if they were to alter it, and that I might not like the results in the first place because they were starting from the bust being so loose and the hips being just right. She could have stopped there, but she decided to say "with you, you want to try to not look bigger, and this cut of the dress makes you look bigger." This may seem like a benign thing to say, but it really hit me, for the normal human woman reasons but also for my own body image reasons. That was completely uncalled for! You never discuss people's bodies no matter the situation. Their job is to make the clothes fit the person and not comment about how someone's body is in the first place. I kind of held it together while saying I'd pass on any alterations from then, and she told me to try to get a new dress and this time get it in a store instead of ordering online. I told her that that isn't really an option for plus-size women because most places don't carry sizes bigger than a Large and maybe an XL if you're lucky. She said "really? everything seems so big nowadays." Honestly, **** this place. I cried in the car afterwards. I might have otherwise given the place a higher rating because I never actually got anything altered, but the initial consultation was so bad, that I decided to write a review, which I rarely do. It might have only been that one woman! I just know that it feels terrible when someone comments on my body. You never know what someone is going through, and being an older woman or business owner is NO EXCUSE. read more

I was very skeptical when my daughters prom dress needed alterations. It was a corset, with zipper and fabric that had to be taken in. No seamstress would have give it a thought! Sadie's was highly recommended and I thought to just ask. When the seamstress looked at the dress she gave suggestions. She also told me upfront that is was going to be challenging since the dress was lined with fabric on the inside. She gave me a price for the alterations and honestly I would have payed double for the hard work! She was very kind and friendly and made my daughter feel comfortable! Thankyou so much for fixing my 2 dresses plus my swimsuit. The dresses I originally had were from Rue 21 and they did not have an x- small they were completely sold out so I had to buy a size small but I'm so glad I took it to Sadie's alterations because now it fits like an x-small and I love it. Its hard to find sizes that fit me right. Now I know if anything doesn't fit me right and it's to big they can take care of it. I feel so much more confident wearing clothes that fit me perfectly instead of big baggy clothes. The swimsuit I had, had no support or padding in it. Inga is a life saver! My family has always gone to Inga for every alteration they've needed, however, she really saved the day when it came to my wedding. A family friend was altering my dress and ended up burning the front one week before the big day. We went to Inga for help and boy did she save the day. She was my hero and performed a miracle by saving my dress and making it look better than I could have imagined. I won't go to any other seamstress and I learned my lesson the hard way. I should start by saying I haven't had any thing altered here in years, but the work was always perfect in the past. I stopped in this week to have a pair of pants repaired and the woman helping me suggested I bring the pants to the shop I purchased them from as she felt the wear was more than your average wear and tear for how old the pants were. I appreciated her offering a professional opinion and suggesting the original tailor (pants were custom) correct the repairs rather than just taking my money herself which she could have easily done. Inge is amazing! My wedding dress was ruined by an alterations place in Boston and when I arrived in St Louis two days prior to my wedding I took it straight to Inge. I thought that nothing could be done to fix the dress but she promised me that she would be able to make it perfect and said that she would stay until midnight if needed in order to fix it. She stopped everything she was doing and spend the entire day fixing my wedding dress and I could not believe the amazing transformation that took place! She is truly a miracle worker. I was expected to pay at least double what she charged me and it ended up being very affordable (especially since it was so last minute).
