Went for simple job of removing part of 4 pillow cases. One seam. They wanted $120!!! $120. Insanity. I should have known better. Last thing I had done was put a hole in the middle of a table cloth, it looked terrible. I should have known better and not gone back. An update for further transparency. I am not good with confrontation or demanding what I want (even when spending $900 apparently) and am a huge proponent of trusting the experts. So when I'm told "thats the ways is supposed to be" I trust that. It's interesting that you said the bust was not lowered when pictures provide clearly show how much lower the bust is from the dress I brought in to the one on my wedding day. This is the only place I took it for alterations. At the second appointment the bust was not even, one side was lower than the other and I had to point that out. When I said I liked the side that was higher than side that was lower I was looked at like that was surprising, even though that was stated at the first appointment. Some comments that were made when I gently spoke up about what I wanted were "it's your wedding day you can be a little sexy" "this looks beautiful on you" "I can do it but I don't think it will look good". At the third and final appointment I had to pay for and take my dress home regardless of it I liked it or needed to bring it back because the store was going to be closed for a month for a vacation. I think everyone deserves time off so not mad about it at all but did feel like I would be an inconvenience to bring it back. I didn't realize how much my dress had changed from when I bought it to final pick up until I look back at pictures. I knew I was uncomfortable but was trying to convince myself I was fine with it since it felt like there wasn't much that could be done about it. So I guess if I get married again (not anticipating that) and I choose to bring my next dress here to get altered (unlikely) I will be more demanding and aggressive about what I want. Like I said though I was the only one who noticed something was "wrong" and got many compliments. I would maybe advise better listening and understanding what brides want so they don't feel they need to be demanding. For brides maybe bring someone to each appointment who can speak up for you, unfortunately for me the only person who lives close to me that I could bring was my future husband who didn't want to come for obvious reasons. read more

Your reply to my previous review is absolutely false. I came to you 2 weeks prior to the event. I did repurchase the dress, had it altered in two days, and wore the new dress to the event. How would you know what I wore anyway? What a creepy thing to say. You provided PART of a lengthy text thread that did not paint the entire picture. The matter is not closed and in fact has been reopened. You are a liar. You lied about not touching the bodice of the dress, you lied about being able to let the hem back out (you owe me some money as I recall "Find a dress that doesn't have a (4 inch!) Difference from the lining to the overlay and I will give you $100,000?" Sound familiar?). You lied in your text messages to be able to provide them as evidence when I disputed the charge. I asked you to fix it. You refused. I asked for a refund you shouted "NEVER!" And slapped your hands together. I only paid you in the first place so I could take the dress to another tailor to have it fixed. I, in fact, took it to two tailors. One said it was amature work. That it was a shame you called yourself a tailor. The other was too polite, but just said "I'm sorry, the dress is ruined." You think you are not in a posotion to absorb a loss? You lost some time (and by the look of your work, not much. ) I paid for TWO dresses, TWO sets of alterations and I expensive shipping charge. Dxl in South County recommended Anthonys.. I called right away and the lady said come between 4 and 6 today. We went right over with 1 new sportcoat that needed slight shortening of sleeves. 4 shirts that needed tailoring. Customer service was welcoming, friendly even fun. The tailor moved like a magician and the finished work was amazing. Slammed and I mean slammed with customers. SRO not enough seating. Parking lot was 2 small for so many cars and zero flow to get safely back out onto the very busy street. I dealt with all this but the bill was $320.00. Clothing was ready in a few days ON-time! But the price shocked me! Not my first time getting alterations. What has anyone else's experience with the prices? Would I go back? Hands down, the best tailor I've used in south St. Louis area. Rush job? No problem and they didn't charge extra. The alterations were spot on. Was attending a last minute invite for a wedding, needed outfit tailored in a day and they did it. They do military uniforms too. Saw policemen walking in and out with their uniforms altered and looked pleased. The staff and owners were friendly and gave advice on how the outfit and pants should be tailored. For the life of me cannot understand the negative reviews. The alterations I received were so well done. If I could give 6 stars out of 5 I would. Service was impeccable and very, very courteous. I thought the pants I took in were not going to be alterable but the tailor worked miracles and the fit is now PERFECT. My daughter and I had a horrible experience with Anthony's Tailoring during the fitting saga of her wedding dress. She took the dress to them to have it altered, and they never got it right. Even after five fittings! We had to take it to a skilled seamstress (thank you Jodi!). We paid them and walked out two days before the wedding. As we were leaving the parking lot with the dress, there was another bride and her mother on the parking who, after striking up a conversation with them, we found that they also were having a horrible experience. This was their fourth fitting and still not right, also two days before her wedding. When we posted a yelp review, the owner responded with multiple lies to try to make it seem like the dress not fitting was all OUR fault. They insisted they told us the dress wouldn't work at the time of the first "fitting"... that it was too big; that we should take it back; that they couldn't help; that it would not fit the way "the mother" expected; and additional statements which clearly they confused with a different dress they had been altering! Well I am "the mother" and none of these statements were made to us then nor on subsequent visits ... lies to put the blame on us, the customer, instead of them. They also stated they had to chase me down in the parking lot to get the driver's license number for the check. Never mind the woman at the counter watched me write the check which I handed directly to her. She never said a word about needing a driver's license number at that time, cash or check only, but no reference anywhere that a driver's license number was required on the check. Save yourself a tremendous amount of stress and heartache and go elsewhere. read more
