I reached out to request a partial refund of the $170 fee that I paid to that facility for seamstress services for my daughter's dress. When we went to the shop on 4/1/2023, we were advised that the dress would be altered from a size 14 to fit my daughter who is a size 6. For whatever reason, the bottom of the dress was not altered to her measurements. When we tried the dress on 4/10/2023, there is a huge gap at the waist that allows a person to see straight down the back of the dress. Her prom was 4/15/2023 so we had to take it to a seamstress in Indianapolis to take the dress in further. There was about 3 inches of dress that had to be removed. We were charged $55 for the services. When i spoke to Shetland, she agreed to a partial refund of $26. In our conversation you cited the lack of time as the reason that you were not able to complete the alterations as we agreed on 4/1. My response was that you should not have accepted the job given the tight timeline if you were not sure that you would be able to do the job as agreed. If you had been open about your reservations with altering the dress, we had an agreement with Art at La Merite dress shop to not purchase the dress. But you said that you could do it so we bought the dress and paid for the alterations. When my sister went to get the $26 dollar's yesterday, Svetlana only gave her $17 and told her to get out of her shop. Incredibly rude, unprofessional, and poor quality work. I had a very disappointing experience here. As soon as I walked in, there was no greeting, no offer to help, just someone rudely yelling at me to go try on my dress. It felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. When I explained that I needed my dress taken in, they said they couldn't do it, which is honestly ridiculous for a place that specializes in alterations. I have gotten both my wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress altered here. I got my wedding dress hemmed, added a bustle, and taken in and it was a whomping $520. While the store I bought it at told me this was overpriced, I had nothing else to compare it to so I went with it. Fast forward three years, I took a bridesmaid dress to get hemmed and the straps shortened and it's $140. There were 9 other bridesmaids with the same dress, who had the same work done that paid $60-$85. No where close to $140. When I asked them about this they just told me that they might not have gotten the same work done. While they did a fine job with the actual alterations, I just can't see it being 2x better than what everyone else got done. I'm happy to support small businesses and pay more for quality work, this just felt like a scam and leaves me wondering how much I overpaid for my wedding dress. read more

I took my wedding dress in Oct 13, 2018 for estimate for alterations. The dress need to be taken in at the waist, straps made shorter, add a bustle, and the dress was too high in the armpit area. I was told the dress would be ready November 3, 2018-which was fine my wedding is not until November 29. The dress was ready on time. I LOVED the alterations. Phone etiquette could be better and more professional. Also, could not get a estimate because the owner was not there thus had to leave the dress there until a price was given. Paulina is a miracle worker! I purchased a floor sample dress that was a size too small a year before my wedding. My thinking was that I would lose weight and fit into the dress in time for my wedding. Of course that didn't happen! About a month and a half before my wedding I came to the realization that I needed to get the dress altered. Paulina added the most beautiful corset back to the dress which made it fit like a glove. There were also other small adjustments that she made at my request. The dress ended up looking like it was made just for me! Paulina made the whole process easy and worry free. A monkey could have done a better job... Ok maybe not a monkey but anyone by the age of 10 who knows how to cut in a straight line. I recently took a beautiful Rachel Pally maxi dress in for a slight alteration. It originally had no hem but she said she could cut it. I thought if that's all, I could probably do it but better leave it to a professional. Boy was I wrong... Not only was the dress cut too short in front, it was ex long in back and on my left side. If it was too long it might have been ok (although I would have still asked for my money back so I could take it somewhere else). However, that was not the case and $220 dollars later + $15 "alteration" charge and my dress is ruined. I took it back and all she kept saying is there is no way I could have done this. WELL YA DID. She even tried to blame the manufacturer and say the dress may have been uneven when I brought it in. Even so, isn't it get job to even it out. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. read more
