Usha's Alteration & Tailoring - She has an eye for detail! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Fenton, Missouri

I originally reached out via email to Usha after finding her on help. I received a response within a couple of hours. She told me when I needed to bring my bridesmaids dress in by and it did not take very long to get altered. My dress for the wedding was cheap so I didn't want to spend a lot of money having it altered. Usha was amazing and helpful! I am so thankful I found her after my other alternation person closed up shop. I have shared her contact with several people because of how helpful she was and her pricing was great! read more

Usha has been my 'go to' seamstress for years. She handled cheerleading uniform alterations, prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses for my daughters in the past. As we trust her completely, she handled alterations for my daughter's wedding this past weekend. She did amazing work on the wedding dress, including adding the bustle, bridesmaid dress and my Mother of the Bride dress. Her work is amazing and always on point! She is kind, flexible and always turns my vision into reality! read more

Nice lady. Hemmed work pants same day! Needed work pants Monday, done Saturday. 4 hours.

I can't even tell you how much Usha saved my life! I had a performance coming up and the original gown I ordered wasn't going to arrive in time due to a snow storm, so Usha made a dress that was too small for me (a heavy vintage hand beaded dress) a couple sizes larger to fit and she did it in record time in order for me to make my performance in Boston. I can't thank her enough!!! If you want quality magic like alterations done, go see her! You won't be dissapointed!! read more

Usha's Alteration & Tailoring - The dress she altered for me - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Fenton, Missouri

Usha has worked on approximately 50+ pieces of clothing for me over the years. Her work is excellent, her customer service is excellent. Her response time is excellent. The rare instance that she made a little mistake, she was gracious about fixing it without making excuses. This is the type of service and quality that creates long term customer relationships, which is what we have. Thanks Usha. read more

I loved my experience at Usha's! About 6 weeks before my wedding I wanted to have my wedding dress altered. The standard size fit me well but I wanted the layered tulle skirt shortened a little bit. I searched "tailor" on yelp and started making a bunch of calls, and many other tailors weren't open on weekends or demanded bridal appointments made several weeks in advance! I work as a resident physician and my work schedule is not that flexible. Usha's was happy to see me for a Saturday appointment just a few days in advance, and Usha was fantastic! She was really careful and detail-oriented with my dress and did an amazing job! Prices were extremely reasonable. She also coached me on how to put on the dress to reduce strain on the zipper, and even fixed an uneven internal hem in the dress for no added cost. I really like that she had us plan a "finish by" date several before my wedding so that I knew when I could expect to pick up the dress. When it was time to pick up the dress (actually a few days before the "finish by" date!), I got a text notification and she had me try on the dress again to make sure it was perfect. I'll definitely be back at Usha's for any future tailoring needs! (And I'll post pics of my dress after my wedding, which was postponed due to the pandemic) read more

Been going here for years. Usha is amazing. Wedding dresses, prom, anything she can fix it!!

Update: she tried to remove my review 1 star review from yelp. Figures why her star rating is so high. Feel free to look at her response about a customer of hers having "extreme anxiety and craziness" and see for yourself if this is someone you would like to work with. She was rude and ripped my dress. Original: I had a consult with her, ended up with ripped mesh on the open back of my gown. She put pushpins on delicate fabric, causing a tear. Had to get it fixed by someone else who did a much better job at half the price this place quoted me. read more

If you are wanting to feel like the most confident and beautiful version of yourself for your wedding day then DO NOT go to Usha's alterations. While getting fitted she will also be working on other customers as well so you will not be made to feel special in ANY way. They will not make you aware of any prices and when you ask for them to explain AVOID speaking to the man, his name is Kumar Bishnupuri. He will become aggressive and will point his finger directly at your face with no distance. He made my mother and 8 year old daughter feel EXTREMELY unsafe. He was filled with a lot of hostility even tho they were the ones to ruin my wedding dress. Horrible customer service and no communication whatsoever. I had my final wedding dress alterations done today and my dress was completely RUINED. It was scrunched up on the sides, not smooth or form fitting like we discussed at the fitting. The lady made a comment that it was the zipper and my body. So they also will take no accountability for their mistakes. Please read their responses for their negative reviews, it will prove my point of them taking no accountability. AVOID USHA'S ALTERATIONS AT ANY COST!!!!!!!! Especially if you want to feel special for your big day! read more

It's difficult to find an affordable and reliable place for alterations. We just happened to stumble upon Usha on Yelp and decided to give it a go! The location was a hop, skip, and a jump from where I live in Fenton, and the studio is actually in Usha's home - trust me, Yelp did not steer us wrong. Going inside, you'll see racks of clothing, bridesmaid dresses and other items that are either finished or waiting to be done. My husband had 3 of his suits altered and a stack of jeans hemmed! On average, it takes about 3-5 business days depending on how many items of clothing you have. I had jeans hemmed for $10 for regular, and I believe $15 for original. Very reasonable compared to where I used to go. Usha is very warm, friendly, and professional. It's like going to my aunt's house to visit because she is so welcoming! Her work is remarkable and I hardly use those adjectives in a review. She definitely knows what she's doing :) read more

Did a great job on alterations on a bridesmaid dress in a reasonable amount of time!!

I searched for a place to take my bridesmaid dress on Yelp and chose Usha based on positive Yelp reviews. I had little less than 2 weeks to drop it off and pick up. She also responded quickly to a Yelp message to request an estimate. Correspondence with her was very prompt. I made the drive to Fenton and it was worth it. Usha is very friendly and welcoming in her shop. She accommodated my tight schedule easily with a little room to spare in case additional alterations were required. I highly recommend Usha for your tailoring needs. It can be a bit of a drive if you live in the city but the peace of mind and excellent quality are worth it. read more

New in the area. Went to Usha's Alternation to have my work uniforms altered. I highly recommend this shop. Went in on a Saturday to get fitted was greeted by her and her husband. Usha's does excellent work in a timely fashion! So relieved to have found her. Nice, Clean Shop. read more

Do not take your wedding dress here. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the dress was "ready" when she said. She spent the entire time telling me how heavy my dress was, how much work it was, too many buttons and was clearly upset with having me as a client. She sewed two loop holes (1 as a back up) to my dress and then used my actual buttons on my dress as the bustle point, which then broke while I was there. Her response was "well your dress is too heavy". I took my dress elsewhere to actually be altered and put proper bustle points. Thankfully was able to find someone to help. Maybe she's fine with pants or even hemming simple dress but do not, do not bring a wedding dress here. Especially if it's an elaborate ball gown. I wish she was honest upfront about not wanting to work on my dress and hope no other brides go to her for wedding dress alterations read more

Usha did a magnificent job with our daughter's wedding dress! The dress needed a lot of work done in order to fit our slender girl perfectly. Some of the things done: material was added to the shoulders so they didn't fall down; the front was altered by taking it in a bit and appliques were added; the length had to be shortened, which meant relocating the lace higher up; the inner lining was shortened; and the biggest challenge of all was re-designing the back to add tulle, lace, and buttons to eliminate the plunging back. We never had a moment's hesitation in asking Usha to do this for us, as she did beautiful work with our daughter's prom dress, years earlier. We would recommend Usha for any alteration, no matter the complexity. And the bonus - Usha is a genuinely kind and lovely person! She's wonderful to work with! read more

Usha and her husband were absolutely wonderful! I took my wedding dress into them multiple times because I kept wanting to add things and adjust things and each time it was perfect! They steamed my dress, did many alterations to it, added silk ribbon to the waist. Usha even constructed a bridal headband for me from multiple pieces and materials I brought in! It was perfect! They also made my husband and I wedding face mask! I couldn't have found a better place read more

I was so lucky to find Usha and can't see myself going anywhere else. Fenton is a little bit of a drive (I'm currently located in CWE) but Usha's eye to detail is what will take me back to her whenever I have alteration needs. I was referred to Usha through a friend when I needed to get a blouse stitched for an Indian wedding I was in, and I knew after seeing her work that she would be the person I would trust with my wedding dress. Usha altered everything perfectly, and added in a bustle that added a little sass in my behind :) Everything was completed very quickly too, and her prices are very good. I would recommend anyone to Usha, especially if you have to alter formal dresses or specialty Indian clothing. read more

I found Usha while soliciting information online about an alternations place that had someone who knew about Indian weddings. My sister was getting married in a Hindu ceremony, and my kids got specially made clothes from India to wear from the groom's mom. They came several months before the wedding, and so needed some alterations when the date got closer. I wasn't sure if they fit right either, and so wanted an expert. I also needed a formal gown altered to fit me for the black tie reception. I brought all of these things and Usha and her husband hooked me up! I felt so much better that she could make the clothes fit my kids, and got affirmation that they fit right, since I am not familiar with the style. She was quick and efficient, got the clothes done on time, was reasonably priced, and my gown looked perfect too! I highly recommend her for any type of alteration! I had a hard time finding the shop, so a tip: it's in the same building as the cycling shop. You can park in the back or on the side! read more

I had a rather weird looking bridesmaid dress that needed alteration in a short period of time. She was very reachable by phone and/or text and was able to see the same day I reached out to her. Got it all fixed up in two weeks! Other bridesmaids took their dresses to other alteration shops nearby and couldn't get it altered as nicely as mine. I was very happy with the result and pricing was very reasonable too. I will be taking all of my alteration/tailoring needs to Usha from now on. Update: She now has her own store near Aldi in Fenton. Still super friendly and the price affordable. Also, she now acceps credit cards, but check or cash is still preferred. read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress altered so decided to go to Usha's Alteration & Tailoring. My mom spoke highly of it! It is located in what appears to be cute house right off the road. It's easy to miss but for reference it is close to Aldi, Payless, and the post office. My favorite part about this place is how welcoming Usha is. When you get there she will greet you with a smile and welcome you in. I really appreciated the time she took to patiently take all the measurements and make sure she alters the dress exactly how I wanted. She is able to do alterations in a short amount of time if needed and prices are very reasonable. I'm extremely happy with the results and can't wait to wear my dress that fits perfectly! Thank you!! read more

Friendly service, and affordable, excellent alterations, with very convenient hours. Very easy to miss - right next door to the bike shop.

Usha did an amazing job altering my wedding dress and my sister's bridesmaid dress. My wedding dress had many layers that did not line up and she took the time to go through each layer and cut them to make them look perfect. Along with taking the waist/chest in and adjusting the fabric by my shoulders, Usha did a professional, clean, and beautiful job. She also did an amazing job on making the bustle, I had many compliments throughout the night on it. I highly recommend Usha for any alteration and tailoring need! read more
