Not only did she quickly pick up on what I was trying to accomplish, but she helped me figure out what to do with an area I could decide on. I was half expecting to wear my backup dress to my event because of how ridiculous my request was, and in an even more ridiculous timeline, but when i picked it up the next day it was absolutely perfect! I couldn't believe it. I will not be going here for every single alteration I have. A bit more background: I grew up working in the fashion industry- specifically, high end styling. We would work with a seamstress to make pieces fit uniquely and perfectly to the customer. Since leaving NY 11yrs ago I haven't found someone who I could work with in this way on my own clothes (I'm not a good seamstress). I am beside myself excited to have found this shop.

Not only did her alterations make the suit look much better, but she was able to turn it around in only a few days, all for a very reasonable price. I'll be bringing all my alterations here from now on. I'm actually feeling more empowered to buy suits off the rack, knowing that I've got such a good tailor at hand.

After I bought my wedding dress, I knew I would need alterations, but expected the bridal shop…read morewould do them in-house (wrong). Luckily Clarice's provided a list of their preferred tailors, and Sandy's was at the top of the list. Being the skeptic I am, I asked around and found that most of my friends took their wedding dresses there and were thrilled with the quality, speed and price, so I was sold. When I brought it in, three weeks before my wedding mind you, they said it wouldn't be a problem. Again, I was skeptical, but they called me about 2 weeks later to come in for a fitting. The hem was perfect, keeping the original lace along the bottom too, and it fit 99%. They showed me bustle options and within about 10 minutes I was on my way and told to come back in 5 days. Sandy's is amazing and I've since recommended them to any bride I know in St. Louis. The only potential flaw is that they're cash only, but it's a non-issue if you know that going into it.

Second, I paid for a bustle to be added to the dress and did the type they suggested. It looked fine in the shop, however, very shortly into having the dress bustled the button holding the dress up ripped. This was without anyone stepping on the dress, just all the weight on a single button. It stinks to have paid so much for a bustle just to have it unusable and a hole in my dress.

I explained how disappointed I was because when I dropped off the garments, there was no mention about having to replace the fabric of the belt loops or completely altering the back of the skirt where the zipper was. She asked what she could do to make it right. I could tell she really cares about her business and customers, as well as the quality of work they produce. I explained that there wasn't much because of how altered they both were but instead, to make sure her parents fully understood what the customer was wanting and not to be afraid to say no if they couldn't actually do it. She agreed and again, couldn't have been more apologetic. This was a learning lesson for both parties and I know how to move forward. In the beginning, she asked if she could give me a refund. I declined at first because I wasn't seeking one but instead, was really hoping something could be done about my clothes. After a few phone calls, I decided I'd go ahead and take it. Prior to this, It had been a while since I've brought something to them but because this was handled so professionally, I'll continue using them but for dry cleaning only.
