This is a park with walking and biking trails wih ample access to the truckee river. Typically quiet and has enough room to not have to crowd any particular arrea. This is also a quality place to see spring blooms and fall color changes in the area. There is a small parking lot that is pretty safe since there is really no other reason to be in this area unless you are using the park. As far as naming of this park, I believe it was named after Dr. Massoud Dorostkar, an anesthesiologist in Reno who donated the tract of land for use as a park. What I dont know is how to properly prononuce the Persian surname Dorostkar. is it DO-roast-car or duh-RAWST-kahr? Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.

Notable: - Smallish park, best for the younger crowd (I'd say 8 and under). - Life jackets are available to borrow (huge plus for families near the river). - Bathroom on-site (clean-ish depending on time of day). - There's a sand horseshoe pit with horseshoes provided--random but awesome. - Ample parking - Popular for jogging groups, photoshoots, and 4-legged parents (some leashed, some not). Worth mentioning: The playground surfacing is recycled rubber tire material. While it's soft and safer for falls, I'm torn on it--lots of new research around potential chemical exposure and PFAS concerns. Feels like one of those "it seemed like a good idea in the early 2000s" things. Would love to see Reno explore alternatives in the future.

In general it's a nice park, but I would have to come back during busier times such as evening or weekends to see how it is. For now though I'm only feeling 3 stars.

You'll be happy to know there is also a bathroom on site. There are various hiking trails you can explore, but most of it is not shaded. The Perimeter Loop Trail was fun with scenic views of downtown and the currently snow-capped mountain range to the West. I also did the Hidden Valley Backcountry Loop. It has a 1,033 Elevation gain and approximately 3.7 miles to complete the loop. It's a bit slippery going up, but I took my time and had no issues. As you can imagine, the views and the landscape only got more beautiful.

So happy we didn't get any rain and was able to go for a hike! We hiked for a good hour. Loved the nature and view of the city from the top. There was a lot of gravel towards the top and a few of us did slip going down hill, even with hiking shoes. Even a trail runner said he fell and slipped a few times. There's a few trails so do some research to see which trail meets your needs. Lots of parking and the bathroom is next to the tennis and pickle ball courts. Lucky I had my pickle ball set in the trunk and even got in a few games. Location was only about 15 minutes from downtown Reno, very close! I'd come back next time to hike another trail!

Take I-80 West past Boomtown to Exit 3 for Verdi.Turn left onto South Verdi Road at the bottom of the ramp (look for the sign pointing to Crystal Peak Park). Follow the road as it twists under I-80, crosses the railroad tracks and goes under I-80 once more. The road becomes Crystal Park Road. Look for the park's upper parking lot on your left. I suggest taking a sharp left turn just before the upper lot to reach the lower parking lot near the picnic area, restrooms, and trailhead. This was a great experience. Celebrated my…read moregrandmothers 90th Birthday yesterday afternoon at Las Brisas, so, events are on demand, as park in the good shape, Playground for kids is awesome and clean. We used to bring my kiddos to this park a when they were little. There's a good amount of shade, ample parking, There are restroom facilities with bright night lighting. A large stretch of grass and even a walking trail makes for some good stroller cruisin'! I'd say a highlight to this park is the awesome view and location. We paid $250 for the rental through the city of Reno. Just so you know, the power outlets DO NOT WORK. We used our vehicles for power outlets ;)
