    Picnic spot

Calling this place a "park" is being generous...it's really more of an overlook, but with the correct expectations set, it's great! With only about 10 parking spaces and 3-4 covered benches, it's definitely a nice spot to grab some solitude. Only a couple other people had stopped by while we were there, plus the occasional runner passing on the trails that lead off to either side. There is quite a bit of road noise though, so don't expect peace and quiet! It has views of the whole valley, Bartley Ranch, and the mountains to the east, but the park closes at 6:30 so we weren't able to stay for the sunset, unfortunately. A nice place for an evening picnic with a great view of our new city! Make sure to see the Nevada shaped field below!

I park down by the ranch and take the loop trail. It's a comfortable hike to that lookout walking over wooden walkways and dirt trails. There are benches and some parking spaces up at this outlook. A commanding view

I guess they should call this more of an outlook than a park. There is about 15-space parking lot. There are 4 semi covered benches overlooking this beautiful city with different vistas. One can hike down either from the left or right and loop around back in about 30 minutes or so. You will reach the Bartley park at the base where there is a clean restroom, water fountains and rest areas.

This park have amazing view of the city. Great place to unwind and reflect. The park is small with 10-15 parking spaces available. Short hIking trails.

This is a nice little park with a great view of the Reno area. From one side of the park you get a great view of the city and on the other side of the park you get a great view of the south part of town. Also known as Windy Hill park this place used to be used for watching the "submarine races" in my days as a young whipper snapper. Now it seems they put a gate up to prevent people from steaming up the windows after 4:30. Go figure, Anyway it's a nice little place to stop and relax if you have a hectic day going but have 10 minutes to burn and catch a breather. They have a handful of parking spaces and a much safer turn off than in the past, but still be very aware when you are exiting because there could be some blind spots for oncoming traffic. Also when we were there, there was a nice little speed trap on the south side of windy hill. So watch your speed carefully. No need to pay higher taxes in the form of traffic tickets.

We left home about an hour before sundown, heading toward Audrey Harris Park. We'd driving by it a couple of times in the past, but we didn't know it was a park, we just thought it was a lookout point, because it's on a road that goes up a hill, behind Bartley Ranch. You know, a place where people pull of the road to take pictures. But it's more than that. At least, according to Vesta, because she googled it. And she and google were right. It's true, it is a lookout point, but there's a trail off to the right of the parking lot, which goes down the hillside, where it meets a bridge. If you turn left at the bridge, the trail will take you to Bartley Ranch. And if you go straight, it'll take you to another trail and we don't know where that goes, because we took the left turn. Along the way, we met and photographed five other people who were out walking and two dogs. As for the trail, it's easy going down, but you have to remember, what goes down, must come up (actually, I think it's the other way around, but I'm sure you get what I mean), at least if you parked your car at the top, like we did. But the walk, both down and back up again, isn't too steep. It's a fun walk and we'll be back again.

This park has an amazing view of Reno, especially when the sun sets! This is no typical park though. It's small, there are no grassy areas, and there are no picnic tables. What this park has to offer is one of the best views of Reno, a few park benches, and two trails (one to the left and another to the right). The benches are sturdy enough, but they have seen better days. And the trails are a little unkept, at least for the winter, but they're great trails for walking, running, and biking. The trail on the left winds around Lakeside Dr. while the trail on the right leads toward Bartley Ranch Park and Anderson Park. The main reason this review only gets 4 stars though is the fact that the park closes at 4:30pm. That's not a problem during winter since days are shorter, but during the summer and fall when the sun sets at around 7:30, it will be a little walk to get there if you watch to catch the sun set. Another reason why this isn't 5 stars is that parking is limited and a little tight. There are only about 10 spots available? Maybe even less. But overall, this is a great, little park! And if you need to go to a bigger park with picnic tables and grass, just take the trail and go to Bartley ranch!

Whenever I have a little free time I love to check out the views from "Windy Hill". The overlook has been a favorite place of mine since the 1970's. Nice benches have been added over the years.
