Especially on the holes that tempt you with big downhill shots! Keep a positive attitude especially if it's your first few rounds here. It'll take at least 12x to play this course effectively. That's why I love the sport! Definitely the best rural course besides Lester lorch. Super nice for those wanting to do some nice hiking. I usually hike it pretty fast, getting a nice work out i between.

Some of the trails lead to neighborhoods, ponds and wildflower fields. There are a couple of wildlife that wander through the area like foxes, so that's something to keep in mind. The trails have demarcations that tell you how far you have walked. There are playgrounds, disc golf fields, open fields for soccer and football, basketball/tennis courts and benches to relax. All that's missing are water fountains and bathrooms.

The small 6 hole course is precariously located in the backlot behind Bear Creek Bible Church. The first hole tees of behind their dumpster. The course is hilly with lots of tall rough areas. I get that the course is new and maintained by volunteers they need to try harder if they want people to play there regularly. The course has many hazards, tall grass and muddy areas. A big mosquito problem, and lots snakes. Due to the ruggedness of the course I have already lost two discs here. Due to the challenges the course presents, I would only play here in the winter and early spring.

First off, we should discuss location, location, location! I am a 75074 based pet sitter and this park is very close to my home base. The Plano Parks & Recreation lists the following address for Shawnee Park: 3380 Sherwood Drive, Plano, Tx 75074. So I don't where the info disconnect on whether it is a 75023 or a 75074 park but I do know it is a great community park. This neighborhood park has it all, including the following: disc golf course, hike bike and dog walking trails, playground, sports practice fields (first come, first served), restrooms, grills, picnic tables, sand volley ball court, and a small lake with a fishing pier. The pavilion holds a maximum of 50 people (no limit on the number of dogs and pets that I am aware of) and can be your rental as follows: resident rental rate $50, non-resident rental rate $100, $75 deposit requirement and other fees may apply. Amusements/sound allowed. This is a excellent park for walking, playing and exercising your fur babies. If you and your dog/dogs haven't had a chance to spend any time together then you need to correct that over-sight real soon.

Well, Nico and Khanh inspired me with the "Disc Golf" thread, so I hit Play it Again Sports for a…read morecheap used driver and approach/putter (that will be a separate review) and used the link below to find this course: http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=838 Showed up at 6:30 pm on the hottest day of the year yet, and luckily the entire course was already in the shadows, so playing in my boardshorts it wasn't unbearable. There were about three other groups spread across the 18 baskets, so no crowd issues to deal with. The course appears to have been laid out originally as 9 holes, and then they added 9 more pretty much on top of the original 9 (you end up making a circular circuit twice). It's a little confusing at first figuring out which basket you are targeting, and where the next tee-off pad is, but everything is pretty well marked (although we never did find the basket for #17). For the most part, the holes are pretty wide open. Several are straight approaches across open field. A few do take you a little ways into the woods though. I'd call this an intermediate course, but a beginner would find it fun as its not too technical. The only advanced part is a couple of the distances and some curve approaches. There are a couple of ravines to watch out for, otherwise, pretty minimal chance of losing your disc as the trees and shrubbery aren't real thick. I'll definitely play this one again.

Parr Park is not only fun to say, okay, it's an all around good time for anyone seeking a park…read moremoment -- be it running through an open field, discovering tree-covered trails, or exploring their equipment and amenities: a cool playground with tons of climbing structures, an exercise station, and a large "sprayground" splash-pad situation that runs during our everlasting summers. You can also rent a pavilion here for parties or gatherings (affordable!), and it includes electricity, covered picnic tables, and close bathroom access. Speaking of bathrooms, and I know park bathrooms can be scary, these ones really are pretty clean! Parr Park is big and clean and lush and green. It's connected to the Bear Creek trails, so there really is a lot of nature to explore. There are almost always people around so it's never too quiet, but it's still big and forest-y enough that you could feel a little bit lost in the wild, if you wanted to (I do).

This course was actually put in by the church that's right there and the staff are very friendly. We were told we could use their RR indoors, vending machines and water fountain as long as the doors were open. There is a very big designated parking area(as soon as you enter its on the left) for the DG park. Great course for beginners!

My last three trips were for this year's Memorial Day activities in support of Carry the Load. This park comes to a new life when there is a large event such as the very noble Carry the Load. Reverchon's beautiful greenery, powerful oaks and gentle rolling meadows are accented with the dark reddish sandstone walls and structures that soothes the soul. It is almost like a slice of Eden.To see this impressive park comfort those grieving as they remember the fallen military, police, fire and other first responders validates its role as a magnanimous friend. It fosters the catharsis and healing needed by many. The trip up and down from the Katy trail (which is high above) can be as challenging as you want to achieve and as beautiful as you want to view. I like the winding stone steps. There are observation terraces, conversation pits, and nature everywhere. It is shielded by quiet Dallas high rises just far enough away. The quiet serenity at night is in contrast to its vibrant life during the day. It retains the natural attraction whether it is a hand full of park goers to over ten thousand. It's great for the dogs, kids and oldtimers like me. There are some sport facilities for the team sport athletes. And of course there are the trails. There is a lack of immediate parking which I think helps retain its natural beauty . There are lots and streets to park if you decide not to go on foot. The adjoining recreation center has all you could want or need. The food and drink options are not too far away and some are world renown. If you need mental cleansing or some quiet reflection, Reverchon Park is the place to stroll.
