They have a big pond with ducks, geese, and turtles! They have a walking area around the pond that my kids love to run on. They would rather run this track then play on the play ground. Playground equipment is set to designated age limits, but kids don't care and do whatever they want. We went here Sunday and it was pretty busy. The busiest I have ever seen!! The kids love the ducks and it's rare seeing a turtle. Be careful for the geese though. Those suckers will come at you with their head cocked like Linda Blair from the exorcist.

I really appreciate the near 360° gate coverage that assures little kids can't wander off. However it is only 3 feet or so high so bigger kids hopped back and forth as needed to catch flying footballs. The single pavilion provides a shaded space for parents to relax or have a picnic but this area does fill up quickly and there wasn't much other shade mid day. Be advised there are no permanent restrooms. Although there are three port-a potties near the park. Recommend bringing any sanitation you may need as there was no soap and port-a potty situations are more challenging for small children.

There is an area for learning with some air plane wings and a place to sit and chill. Walk a bit further and there is a waterfall. Wasn't moving a lot of water the day we went, but it was still a good photo. We walked out a bit further and didn't see anything more but an open path for walking. The main falls area is best enjoyed in the early morning when there isn't a drought of any severity, as it dries up pretty easily. Before the pandemic, this place was a true hidden gem but it has become more crowded since then, even with the world's tiniest and easily missed parking lot acting as population control. There are six public parks located within the forty miles of shoreline. Each one offers something different, like picnic areas, camping, boating, fishing, and swimming. This was our last stop for our 2022 Challenge! We went out for a Christmas Day hike after all the festivities and decided to explore the Benbrook Lake Horse and Nature Trails near Whiskey Flats. We saw the remnants of several old stone buildings, including a huge double chimney. Bald Eagles are known to nest in this area, but we didn't spot any this time.. We will definitely go back and explore more of that area.

The nice man out front makes your entry pleasant even with the fee. Driving through this particular area brings back lotsa good memories. I always enjoyed this lake, until I took microbiology. I am older now and figure my immune system is pretty strong so ... Early September is Hot but shade available over concrete benches and plenty of trees scattered around.
