Disc Golfer that is, and this course took my virginity…read more While on vacation visiting friends in McKinney Texas, I was trying to be a good house guest and show interest in my friends passion for Disc Golf. He truly is a walking commercial for the sport. All you have to do is mention Disc Golf and he's off on a long rant about everything there is to know about the game. He stuffed enough useless Disc Golf knowledge into me to give birth to a sextuplet of frisbees. But I love anyone who has a passion for something, so I listened. On the third day of this visit, he asked me the question I'd been dreading to hear for our last 3 visits! "Do you want to go play a little Disc Golf with me?" My heart stopped as I tried to think of something clever to say to get out of it. But the best thing that came to mind was "Sure, why not". My mind was laced with all kinds of expletive words that I'd rather not repeat, but when my 11 year old son showed interest and wanted to come too, my defenses went down like Will Robinson's robot loosing power. So we packed up the gear (my friend was so excited he even gave us our own tote bag of frisbees) and headed to Towne Lake Park. I'm a black man if you couldn't tell by my pic, and I'm not really very excited about baking in the sun, especially since this was a 107 degree day. However, the course is almost entirely designed underneath the canopy of trees, so you are well protected from becoming a Boston baked bean. We met up with one of his disc golf buddies who also takes the sport very seriously and even had a luggage style tote for his discs that doubled as a chair. I was totally trippin'! But I must say, I had a great time. This is a fun sport and I was very excited that my son was really into it. What can I say? I'm a dad who just loves his boy! If you half give this sport a chance, I think you will find it to be VERY entertaining. As for my friend, when we left McKinney at the end of our stay, he went on a road trip to North Carolina to play in the championships and came in 47th out of 288 players in the PDGA World Championships! Public restrooms and water fountains are nearby so that's convenient. there's also street parking available or sometimes even the little church community center parking if they don't have an even. there's a bike/walk trail - the Chisholm trail - that goes down alongside the creek and under the streets and comes all the way back around if you want to go for a stroll. lots of people picnic or come see the ducks, turtles, beavers that live in the creek. you can hear the busy streets around, but it's far enough away that it's not a concern. overall nice little city park.

It's usually not packed with the course layout so it flows pretty nicely, that helps with the disc traffic as well. It offers everything from open spaces to thickets of trees. :-) Around hole 1 is a public park, pond (open for catch and release fishing), waterpark, baseball field, and often you'll see someone having a photoshoot with the beautiful surroundings. So watch out for goobers walking across your path when throwing your disc...but other than that you're great! I definitely recommend at least trying this course once...you'll be hooked...chiggers or not...rofl!

It was unpleasant to know that two dog owners that were talking walked off after knowing one of their pets pooped. This was right by our ballers warming up too. Small parking lot near smaller open baseball field. Other than that most cars park alongside the streets. Nice park!

I'll note up front that this review is for the Stewart Creek Shoreline Trail. The parking for the…read moretrailhead is just before the pay-gate to enter the rest of Stewart Creek Park. We did not venture further in, so I cannot comment on the facilities there. The shoreline trail runs back between the subdivisions and the lake, away from the park. I think you could just walk across the road and access a connecting trail that leads into the park; however, you might have to pay an admission fee even a a pedestrian. I do not know. We just followed the shoreline for a mile or so. The scenery is sometimes pretty along the lake and some of the homes / back yards can be interesting as well. We passed several individuals and groups during our walk. The trail is not secluded (often passing groups of homes) and seemed quite safe. If you are in the area and want to take a walk away from the traffic, this is a good budget choice.

The bost ramp is nice and located near the entrance. The restrooms are easy to access. The picnic tables and grills are conveniently located together and close to the water. I find time to walk around the park and enjoy photography of the wildlife while taking a break from fishing. The park is on the no wake zone of Lewisville lake marina. Enjoy!

Just being able to hear the water waves, and seeing the sun glistening against the water is a tranquil vibe. On the some weekends there are people giving birthday parties or barbecuing at the Barbecue Grills. There is a Fishing Pier, Parking lot area, Pavilions (Small), Picnic Tables, a Playground where my kids play and swing, a Sand Volleyball Court, Trails for Hiking / Biking. I enjoy the peace and convenience of the view to walk around the lakeside in a calm setting.

The rope is almost unnecessary but I can see why it was placed there. The ergonomics of it though don't really work with some kiddos. I will say, as with many parks, there's a definite issue with people having their dogs unleashed. And just watching their dogs in general. Case in point. I was there once and at the baseball field, there was a couple just taking turns hitting baseballs while their dog would go fetch the ball as it gets hit for distance. Not only is this lazy but it's also against Plano leash law. They may think it's cute but there's nothing cute about an annoying pet that charges at people especially if the people have traumatic experiences against dogs. I'm not saying that was us but it certainly could've triggered others. And also it's against the law. Self-entitled lazy pet owners need to know their place. Also there's signs in the park that says for dog owners to pick up their poop. Almost like a bad joke, I see dog poop right in front of one of those signs recently. Just a lot of bad pet owners around here.

My kids love to walk along the railroad tracks that run behind it up to Davenport. There's a creek on the way. It's a little isolated. My young teen loves to take photographs there and has gotten some really nice shots. We've taken food there to eat outside. It's just a beautiful little "pocket park."
