Bob Woodruff has four Lots for the dogs to rotate but they never let the large dogs have the largest lot it's always the small dogs I can see why people would be happy with that arrangement. The largest lot should be rotated so the large dogs can have more room to run and some shade trees. There are no shade trees where they keep the large dogs. It's boring it's just big piece of grass we have to watch where you step. I've contacted the management and said why don't you put some trees in there if you're not going to allow the large dogs in the big lot? And they have all kinds of strange governmental excuses. Last year they said they were going to build some type of a cover inside the lot but never did. read more

Love seeing my tax dollars at work, Bob Woofruff is my new favorite park in Plano! I've only been on the weekend for walks around the lake but I love that there's ample parking, beautiful scenery and plenty of room to socially distance while getting your cardio on. They have a lovely pavilion area you can rent out, volleyball courts and playground for the kids. I haven't been south on the trail but feel like it probably connects to the trail that goes to Oak Point Nature Preserve. I haven't seen too many jerks here so that's reassuring! read more

Thought I would update my review of Bob Woodruff to include the pavilion rental information. This park is so large that it actually has two different sized pavilions. Bob Woodruff South Pavilion has a maximum capacity of 50 and is located at East Park & San Gabriel in the 75074 a/k/a East Plano, TX zip code country. The pavilion has a nonresidential rental rate of $100, a resident rental rate of $50, a deposit requirement of $75, other fees may apply and there are no amusements and no sound waivers. Bob Woodruff North Pavilion has a maximum capacity of 250 people (no limit that I am aware of for dogs so it would be a great place to throw a dog party). It is located at 2601 San Gabriel, Plano, TX 75074. It has a resident rental rate of $200, a non-resident rental rate of $400, a deposit of $75, other fees may apply and amusements/sound is allowed. A group of us traveled up to Plano for Aimee Z's Conquer Chiari Walk Across America...yay Aimee! The park was super easy to find, although it took some strategic street thinking to figure out how to get to the North Pavilion, so I wish that would have been better marked. The N. Pavilion looks out over a looped concrete walkway, which is wide enough for walkers, runners, rollerbladers and bikers to share. Aimee told us that 4 laps equals a 3K, so you can even get some training done out here! The walkway surrounds a nice large pond -- no telling how deep it was or if you can fish in it, but it seems like a great place to take the family on a sunny afternoon for a picnic. In short, it's convenient, family-friendly and a safe area to play and exercise. read more

This review is for the dog park. Out of the three dog parks in Plano (Windhaven, Carter, Woodruff), we like the layout of this dog park the least, but it is still spacious and our dogs have fun. The areas are divided into multiple areas (large dog, small dogs, etc) and the areas are pretty much huge grass areas. Unfortunately there are no walkways to go further down the grass area, so while dogs go down, humans tend to stay close to the front where there are a few benches available. With that, humans naturally don't go to that area and don't pick up their dog poop! Other than that picky thing, my dogs have fun. They meet other cool dogs and they get to play, run and catch balls. Today my wife and I decided to have a picnic in the park. It was a perfect day for it. The sun was shinning (which is normal in Texas) and we pretty much had the whole park to ourselves. There is a nice big pond/small lake there where you can walk/jog/bike around and feed ducks! There are plenty of picnic tables to eat at, and some benches to sit and relax. Been WAY too long since my initial review here. Bob Woodruff Park is a great place for all. I add this park into my walking routine and the lake and other walking areas make it a pleasure to enjoy. The lighting is pretty good at night, but not perfect (around the lake at least). Parking continues to be easy and plentiful. read more

Very very sad. The Conquer Chiari Walk Across America that I have organized for the past 3 years will be searching for a new location for 2012. Why? Because the City of Plano is FULL of themselves! In 2009 they charged $100 rental fee to use the park. In 2010 they charged $100 rental fee to use the park. In 2011 they charged $400 rental fee to use the park, ouch, but we paid it anyway. In 2012 they WANT to charge $975 rental fee to use the park... and that's AFTER I moved to the city limits of Plano and get a cheaper rental fee for being a resident. I love this park. It has served our event well.. beautiful park, covered pavilion, bathrooms, but since we are a non-profit and the goal is to raise money, not spend it... I will be looking for a new venue. read more

Very family friendly park! Spread out and pathways to bike, run or get your stroll on. There's lots of parking any time of day. It's been a while since I've been over to the east side of Plano but when I do it's nice to come out here and get some fresh air. There's also some fun outdoor events held in this area such as the Plano Balloon Festival in September. There's a play area and basketball courts for the kids as well. read more

Amazingly beautiful family friendly park. It can get a little crowded near the main parking lot but the park is so huge you can find space to enjoy anywhere. Fun wildlife, seagulls suck. I don't know how they made it to this lake but they ruin feeding the ducks all the time with their nastiness. But anyways. I love this park. One could ask for nothing more. read more

Beautiful park. The .7 mile trail around the pond/lake is well maintained and I've used it for jogging and walking the dog. It's mostly well lit at night and feels safe. They have a playground area, sand volleyball, basketball court, fishing pier, pavilion, and multiple BBQ grills. The bathroom has a water fountain and is next to the pavilion, although it is closed in the winter. There are lots of trash cans all around the park to make it easy to pick up after your dog. Speaking of dogs, on March 2018 they will begin construction of a new dog park at the southeast corner of Shiloh and Park which is right next to this park. It is scheduled to be completed December 2018 and should be a huge bonus to the area and all the dog owners. read more

I rarely venture up this way when it comes to visiting parks, but this was a special occasion that warranted a special trip. Like Nikki, I was introduced to this park for Aimee Z's Conquer Chiara Walk (woo!) and was pleasantly surprised at this little haven tucked neatly away just a few miles from downtown. It was a beautiful day, thankfully, so the park look especially welcoming upon my arrival. We met at a pavillion where several people busied themselves with setting up food and water and registration for the event. The pavillion area was clean, spacious and had a ton of tables available for use. It was also conveniently located between the park restrooms and a massive playground. And yes, it took quite some restraint not to go frollic with the children amongst the neat slides & toys. The walk itself took place just a stones throw away on a concrete path surrounding a quaint pond. Though there were trees and bushes a plenty, there is very little shaded area on the path, so watch out for those steamy days & take lots of water. I noticed several cyclists and runners from the surrounding neighborhoods make their way thru the park, too. Lots of people watching opportunities there! And, when your family is done playing for the day, you can hop over to downtown Plano for some good eats. Its a win-win! read more

Nice park for family fun. The bathrooms are closed during winter, so I had to use a port-a-potty which, although someone left dog poo in the toilet, still smelled fine. There are many grassy areas, a good playground for grade schoolers, and a nice pond to stroll around. One can enjoy both fishing (but are there any fish) and feeding bread crumbs to the ducks. I once had a party at the pavillion, and Bob Woodruff will always have a place in my heart. read more

Huuuuuge park with lots of grass areas and parking spots. You have to drive a bit inland to get to the place but it's probably because it is so big! We went to go fly a kite and have our son play in the playground. He loved it! There is a lake with ducks and turtles where you can go jogging around, as well as some horses on the other side where you first drive in. By the playground area, there is a covered patio and a gazebo where we saw people getting married. It is a great park if you want somewhere to just bring your dogs and kids to run around since there's so much room! read more

Great place to run! I love running the trails leading to the park and running around the lake! The volleyball court is fun but too bad there is only 1 when a lot of people go and wait just to play. Good park for the kids, I've taken my niece here a few times and she always begged to stay! Also a good place to walk your dog, or for any kids who wants to feed the ducks bread. Also a very good place just get things off your mind by walking around the lake. The lake is .76 miles. Easy to keep track of the distance walked or run in a workout session! read more

I really love this park! There are walking trails around the large pond and off into secluded areas. There were people picnicking at tables and on the grass, kite flying, dog walking, fishing and even Fido is welcome! The playground has equipment for toddlers on up and there is enough room for all. I've been here once and can't wait to go again. It's beautiful and relaxing. Not as crowded as some of the other Plano nature spots. There is a trail, volleyball, and basketball in the area too. I love that there is a little pier in the water with two picnic style tables on it, so you can sit there and feel like you are right over the water. There was also a guy practicing on his bagpipes when I was there, which was interesting. read more

Beautiful park! My BF, son and I went on a Sunday afternoon just to walk around and enjoy the view. My son seemed happy from the way he was swinging his feet and waving his hand from his stroller. Very nice expansive park to hang out with a friend at, your kids, play games, bbq, play volleyball, hike along the massive trails that lead through the forest and creeks. It has trails that go under bridges and connected to what seems like a forest that goes on forever. You can fish in the pond, feed the ducks, it really has something for everyone! read more

This park is huge. They have a pond with concrete sidewalk you can run/walk around. I've seen a man fish in the pond when I went before. They have a lot of open field and trees. I saw a stream with a bridge. I kept following the sidewalk not knowing where it would lead me and I ended up in some neigborhood so I walked back and walked further north passing Parker. Going under the street bridge looks a bit scary cause it's really dark but nothing to worry about. Overall it was nice being able to see some nature. read more
