I even had a butterfly land on me one time I didn't want to move or scare away because it was so pretty.

We walked off the paved paths and ended up lost in the middle of the forest but it was fun being surrounded by nature. If you walk on the paved path, then it'll loop around the entire park. The nature trails had some dead ends which sucks because we were hoping it would connect back to the main path somehow. The only surprising thing is the limited parking spot available. There's only one small parking lot with 7 SPOTS available for the park, and they were all taken by others. We had to park our cars at Chick-fil-a and walked across the street just to get to the park.

There are benches at regular intervals if you want to give your feet a rest. We saw many squirrels while on the trail and many tortoises in the creek. It's a nice place to enjoy nature and rejuvenate. There is very limited parking and I don't remember seeing any restrooms in the park. It's a dog friendly park. Dogs need to be on leash and please clean up after your pups.

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's…read morequite large and has a number of amenities like a small pond, winding creek and access to an adventure park on the grounds. There are trails as well as paved paths for walking and jogging enthusiasts. The trails do not have much of an elevation change, but they are immersive enough to where you feel like you are in nature. In the midst of one of the trails, you can see the platforms and zip lines associated with the Go Ape Adventure Park. There is a part of another trail that has a beautiful wooden deck that is very peaceful and is akin to other parks I've experienced in Japan and Hawaii. So, if you like changes of scenery, Oak Point is a great option- it's a chameleon in that way. There are restroom facilities that are well maintained located by the large pond as well as ample parking. As far as variety of landscapes and well maintained grounds, Oak Point is definitely a terrific option for outdoor activities in DFW.

This is a beautiful park with a nice walking path, a clean playground, a picnic deck on top of a…read moresmall pond, and wildflowers! We stopped by the park after dinner but discovered the giant field of wildflowers in the back, which made the visit a lot more memorable. The flowers are gorgeous and there are so many spots for photo opportunities. I saw 7 groups of people taking photos and they were pretty spaced out. There are paths you can walk between the flowers so you don't step on them if you want to walk in. I'm not sure how long the flowers are blooming but definitely check out soon!

After the gate is closed if you need to be let out, you have to call the police. But there's so much to do here! Not just the swimming area! There's a hiking trail, playground and walking trails. Beautiful views and plenty of space to social distance yourself. The trails are available for no fee as far as I could tell, but the swimming area near WhoaZone is $5. They do not take cash, only debit/credit card. The swimming area has a playground and picnic areas. I think there's a spot to cast your kayaks off over there too, but I stayed near the beach and didn't explore anything else. I saw vehicles with kayaks going over on the other side. If you have water shoes, I'd say bring them and a beach umbrella as there's no shade. The sand isn't too uncomfortable to lie in, there's just cigarette butts here and there. But I definitely recommend visiting for the day or even camping if you're into it!

The largest lot should be rotated so the large dogs can have more room to run and some shade trees. There are no shade trees where they keep the large dogs. It's boring it's just big piece of grass we have to watch where you step. I've contacted the management and said why don't you put some trees in there if you're not going to allow the large dogs in the big lot? And they have all kinds of strange governmental excuses. Last year they said they were going to build some type of a cover inside the lot but never did.

There are tons of parks all throughout DFW to get your long run on. If you are up north in suburbia and are looking for a place to get your miles in, I highly recommend coming here! It's nice and peaceful and quiet plus safe and options for potty breaks in the area. The trails are beautiful and well kept and the residents are friendly! I recommend parking in the main park area where they have designated the public to park and start your run from there. Great sunrise views off of the creek and you can run throughout the neighborhood trails since it goes around the city. It's fairly flat but there are some opportunities for elevation if you venture out. If you are just looking for a safe park/playground you may bring the fam here too and I do think there is a pavilion. But there's tons of shade for the run and lots of fun fact/history out there about the park as well. Enjoy and keep on supporting local!

According to the map, it looks like it goes far south into Plano. Very quiet. Only saw a couple families walking, jogging, and riding bikes. We did come on a Friday morning though. It hasn't rained in awhile so the creeks are low. All paved, a couple bridges. I saw some wildlife too: squirrels, hawks, and egrets. We came in January so all the leaves had fallen off trees. I bet it is a sight to see during spring when everything blossoms. However, I imagine it being very hot during summer since there is no coverage throughout the path. Overall, nice, paved trail. Extremely well maintained.
