Great urban getaway amid the hustle and bustle that is McKinney. Only 20 years ago McKinney was a sleepy little north Texas town that had seen it's better day. However, having always had something special going for it,the north Texas growth has breathed new life into this 10 square mile area formerly " historic" McKinney. This little lake created by forward thinking city planners is more and more a community gathering point. Just to the west is a full blown Frisbee golf course, hiking/biking trails and more. I just discovered a new addition today. A lighted walk,with music,to enjoy after dark I'll be back. read more

Beautiful park for walking & spending some time with nature. We wanted to visit this park for a while glad finally we made it. There are multiple spots to park which we loved it. Very well maintained park , nice concrete pathway for walking & jogging. Saw many people who came early morning for fishing. It's a huge layout so didn't feel rushed every one was enjoying walking or jogging at their own pace. Ample seats for taking breaks or enjoying nature. Loved the vibe here all locals coming for walks , children enjoying parks & slides , enjoyed watching birds, turtles, fishes. There is ample parking place around the park & very well connected to all the local roads & highways. read more

We had another great walk around the lake. But today was special! At around 7.30 am today just the sun was rising above the background, a hot air balloonist brought his balloon right down on the lake and skimmed the surface before rising again going high into the sky! What a sight it was to watch him aim past the treeline and then lower himself almost to the water before flying back high We could not have asked for a more glorious start to the day! And then to be able to find tortoises, heats , ducks and goose along with their young one start their daily runs for food into the lake just made this all the more memorable! read more

Towne lake park is a great area to walk and fish! They recently added lights to a good part of their trail around the lake and it's a vibe. They play instrumental music along the lit trail as well, it's a nice area to take a stroll and relax. read more

Came back again, this time to check out the trails. They weren't as long as we had hoped, but they were still nice and with really good shade from all the trees. The trail suddenly stops at a street, and you're not quite sure if it picks back up or not...until you get to what looks like a school, and you're pretty sure that's it. Some areas of the trail weren't in great shape due to mud from all the recent rain, but it was still nice for around 30 mins. Then we took another lap around the pond to round out our hour walking the dog at the park. read more

I've been running in this park for the past 5 years. I've also used the paddle boats and the snack bar. I've never seen the park dirty other than after extensive flooding before the city personnel was able to come out and pick up litter. The trail around the lake is 1.2 miles long and there is a fountain in the lake and almost always ducks, geese, and turtles in the water. The are are several shelters for gatherings and a nice size play area for kids. The paddle boats are available to rent and quite fun and the staff at the snack bar is always pleasant. The park is part of a larger approximately 6.5 mile walk/bike path and this section is by far the prettiest. You can also cross the bridge to the McKinney community center (.15 mike walk) to more play areas and a nature trail. The bathrooms are dated and about what you would expect for an outdoor picnic/City Park. That is the reason for four stars and not five. However, I've never seen the ladies room dirty. Overall a really nice park to walk, run, bike and picnic. While I've never planned a group event I've seen dozens held here and there are grills, shelters, and multiple shelters to use. We just moved to Texas. I brought my girls to this park the other day to kill time because it's close to their Dad's work. I've only been to two others, to my surprise this one was quite large! Great area playground, loved that it was basically a huge oval around the pond, for walking. Plenty of benches and shade, there was even like a picnic area. Place was super clean, the maintenance people were there emptying trash and cleaning up. The bird life was great! Lots of different geese, ducks, other birds and squirrels! My girls loved it! We fed the ducks and geese. We really had a great time. Definitely will make this a place to get some sunshine, see birds and let the kids play! read more

Had a "dine in" take out dinner here, meaning we got some great take out, and decided to have a view. Sat on the metal picnic table near the lake bridge. Park seemed mostly nice, except for some of the older items that may need replacing/repair and updating. Great place to take a walk, but very popular too. A few different parking areas, so you should be able to find a spot. Enjoyed the sunset, and the ducks, turtles, fish, etc. Ducks seemed to enjoy fishing upside down. Haha. Definitely will be back. read more

I really, really love this whole area. I've mostly been here for 2 separate Melon Dash 5Ks over the years and it's always very clean, green, and well-kept. I really enjoy being here and would love to come back again! There are some really cute homes nearby too if you're up for a quick walk. read more

Need to evolve a magikarp into Gyarados? This is the place to get a good amount of candies. There's a really nice walk around the large lake, which boasts 3 pavilions which can be rented out, paddle boats for summer rentals (weekends only, I think), a concession stand with bathrooms in the back (bathrooms are gross), two fountains, fishing, a playground, a volleyball course, 6 pokestops and 2 pokemon gyms. Most of the park that isn't the lake has been converted into a very popular disc golf course. Despite the popularity, everyone is polite and picks up after themselves and their dogs. There are a couple different places to park, a small lot near the hiking trails off the lake, and a much larger lot near the pavilions. The park is very well maintained, clean and people are friendly. It's simply a wonderful park! read more

Great place to walk/run and w dogs. Everyone is usually very friendly passing by. There is a nice pond that does have paddle boats. Nice upgraded park too for the kids and sand volleyball. Great place for a little exercise, family picnics and to play. read more

Super nice park for walking and feeding ducks. Bathrooms (like with most parks) are pretty gross, but they have them! They have paddle boats but I have never been able to rent one as I never know the hours for it. There's a concession stand but again...its hit and miss. The water up close looks a little funky, but that's just Texas swamp water for ya. Be careful for the spiders, especially on the dock area. Lots of people come here to fish btw. read more

Beautiful place. I love it here, especially in the fall. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the workers and other people at the park will frown upon trying to get the ducks to engage in sexual activity with one another. Immoral? Maybe. Illegal? No. Take your baby boomer judgements elsewhere! read more

Cute park! They have a pavilion, paddle boats, playground, volleyball nets, horseshoe, baseball fields, and nature trails. The trails aren't very long, but they are fun to explore for sure. You can also fish in the pond! Highly recommend for some time with the family or even going for a run. The park is well lit for the evenings as well. Get out of the house and have fun! read more

This community park includes a 22-acre lake, lit hike / bike trails, two picnic pavilions, restroom / concession services, playground, two sand volleyball courts, nine lighted horseshoe courts, fishing pier, paddle boat rentals, "Memories" bronze statue and onsite parking. I enjoy using all of the bike trails around town to get here then packing a lunch and having a picnic at one of the many picnic tables. Then I bring extra bread to feed the plethora of ducks and inhabit the park. I love Towne Lake and think it a great park for our comminty. read more

Very good park, with two fountains in the lake. Good for evening strolls, hikes and running.

Great park to play, ride bikes, take a stroll, feed the ducks/swans and ride a paddled duck or swan. Plenty of covered patios for family get-togethers. My son and I take a walk from our house around the lake at least once a week. They have a kid park to play but needs some updates but all in all a great location to just relax. read more

This is one of the coolest parks ever! It's hard to find a place to start.. 1) There's a good size pond for non engine boating, fishing. 2) 1.2 miles walk/run/bike track. 3) Baseball fields(4) 4) Horseshoe area 5) Pavilions and grille areas 6) Snack drink bar and where you can rent. boats or pavilions 7) Playground 8) Last but not least and my favorite!
