Sundried pork with chilli sauce, salad, and rice

Delicious food I had the sun dried pork. Certainly recommend it. The workers are so nice as well and patient when your ordering. Very nice background music with plenty of chatter everyone seems very happy. Definitely coming back

Hoisin duck rolls, egg fried rice and cocktail

I was truly looking forward to my meal here only because of the reviews I found. But unfortunately disappointment came very during my meal. I ordered the egg fried rice and the Hoisin ducks rolls, but both were incredibly bland. This was definitely not fried rice. If any, it was steamed white rice mixed with a couple pieces of scrambled egg. The duck was also tasteless. The cocktail was the best thing, which is unfortunate for a restaurant. It could have been an unlucky wrong day, wrong time, wrong meal for me, but I won't be returning to Saba.

Got the Pattaya. Omg this is amazing! So flavorful! Came out so quickly and piping hot. Duck, egg, bok choy, mushrooms, egg noodles. Perfect amount of sauce. So happy I stopped in here! Definitely recommend.

I found Saba to be quite a stylish Asian restaurant. The pink decor, dim lights, classy seating and bar area, packed to the brim with customers, published their own cookbook, seemed like one of the top Dublin places to eat! When we entered, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and efficient with their service. The food didn't take too long to come despite the place being packed, and it tasted quite good albeit a bit too spicy for me. I'm not much of a fan of spicy food so the choice on the menu was quite small, this being an Asian restaurant and all, but there sure is a lot to choose from otherwise. The negative thing was that the inside was kinda smokey and hard to breathe, and smelled to strongly of food that I was kind of afraid it would stick to my clothes. I can tell that reservations would be needed on friday and weekends. Overall, a good restaurant.

The green monkfish!

How did I not hear about this place before? My friend mentioned it and we thought we would try out luck, on payday Friday which looking back was a bold move cause they were packed. We had not made a reservation however the super nice staff found us two seats at the bar and somehow it was an amazing experience just being able to watch the bartenders make drinks, the amount of skill and care they put into making those things was impressive, it was like dinner and a show! Now to the food which I am pretty sure was the best Asian food I've ever had. I listened to my fellow yelpers and tried the green monk fish and it did not disappoint man that was good. I could go into detail but honestly just get your ass to Saba if you haven't been. I would love to go back for one of their cocktail classes.

These were a seafood wrap that was TERRIBLE.

Ok so background: grew up in SF bay area and have been eating Thai food my entire life. Sabas food is really really unimpressive. I can't stress this enough. Perhaps if my meal cost 10 euros or less I would have been less shocked by how unsatisfied I was with this overpriced meal. For example, the seabass in miso was very simple....something I could have made at home. The noodles were bland and covered in sauce. The cocktails were totally watered down. Actually the best part of the meal was the butternut squash... The only un-asian part of the meal. One star is for the trendy ambiance and nice service. I really wanted to like this place I really did....but if you have high standards for Thai food then stay away!

Saba is the main restaurant of the now well known and popular Rathmines takeaway. Its down what used to be a bit of a side street but in recent years in becoming busier and in Saba's case, well visited. Saba bills itself as asian fusion and serves Thai-Vietnamese dishes. The restaurant itself is one of the selling points, funky and minimalist with lots of black and white photos in main room. The bar at the front is also great. They were still only serving wine the night we visited. I can definitely recommend the Phad Khing, with chicken, you can also get it with beef, prawns or tofu & veg. The massaman curry is also worth a look, be warned its very filling. If your looking for something spicy then eye wateringly hot phad kraprow is your only man. Unfortunately one of my favourite dishes from Saba to go isn't available here, the vegan friendly butternut squash curry(gaeng karee fukatong). If your not a meat eat though, theres plenty of other veggies dishes on the menu as well as lots of tasty sides. Was here with a big group the night I went and they were more then happy to accommodate us.

Ginger Salad (part of €13.95 lunch deal)

Came here for the lunch special which is 2 courses for €13-€15 (memory failing me here) but you get the drill. First of all, I'm a big fan of the decor & interior of the place, it's all wooden and laid in out in big spaces, it really feels like the place can breathe. In keeping in theme with the wholeness feeling of the place, they also offer some very healthy dishes for a Thai restaurant. I had the ginger salad to start & steamed sea bass for the main. The salad was delicious, and they didn't hold back on the ginger either which I was pleasantly surprised to see. Good sized portion too which is what you want when you're opting for a salad. Next up was the steamed sea bass, my one complaint is that the only sides they would do were rice or noodles, I'm kinda growing accustomed to ordering vegetables or even potatoes instead of these options so was a bit of a let down. A minor quibble on my part though. The sea bass itself was very good and came in a lime sauce that just worked perfectly and tasted completely original. Overall this place has a lot going for it and it seems like it'd do just as well as a lunchtime spot, a date night or an evening with a group of friends. It's definitely on my 'return to list'. In short: A great healthy thai restaurant with a nice wide open interior, perfect for any occasion you could think of (except breakfast obvs).

I've been to saba a few times with work and I kind of like it, kind of don't. I love the idea of it - asian food, great cocktails, lovely décor....but I'm not crazy about the main courses. There's always about five things I want on the starter menu, but anything I've had from the main courses, I've never been too happy with. Starter-wise I love the white fish and vegetable tempura, hoisin duck rolls, black pepper squid....and then for my main I pull a blank. It's kind of just bland noodle dishes and some curry dishes. Bo-ring. So I usually end up having a couple starters...and a few cocktails! They do everything from shots, to champagne cocktails and even sake ones. Now that's what I call a menu!

Sea bass and steamed jasmine rice and phad prik sod chicken wings to DIE for!!!

Dishes are over sauced and cloyingly sweet, not very genuine Asian ( Vietnamese or Thai) food. Waiter was rude and impatient...

Had a large beef vermicelli. Vermielli was a bit on the thicker side, tasted alright. Beef portion was quite generous and the beef tasted like a good quality product with fine lean texture. Had the spicy broth option and gotta say the broth was too spicy, not on the pleasant side, pretty much like it was drowned in sriracha. Overall an OK place for a quick meal.

This place came up on Yelp and on Google as highly rated. I am sad to say that I am thoroughly disappointed. The service is the typical fast joint quick service type of environment but with friendly people. The disappointing factor was on the food itself. The flavors were completely off. The bun bo hue tasted like a basic bland bone broth that they universally used and added maybe a small dollop of what is supposed to be bun bo hue flavoring/essence. It tasted nothing like bun bo hue or smelled like it. If they offered shrimp paste, it wouldn't even have made a difference. The satay on the table didn't even save the dish. The hu tieu reminded me of a broke college student living off of instant noodles but making 1 packet stretch to 2 bowls. It lacks so much flavor and all of the table condiments made no difference. I will say I liked the noodles but everything else was just a bowl of sadness. Now the banh mi... The bread was super stale and my mouth was extremely tired from just eating half. I could not get past the staleness to even enjoy what was inside. Overall this was edible. My friend ordered the grilled pork rice plate. Side note they don't and can't do an egg with it. The meal itself looked really sad and not appetizing. I can't even compare this place to a cafeteria quality type of meal because this was probably one of the worst meals I've had in a very long time. Granted the items were edible, but if I had a choice I would've not eaten it.. but I did pay for it and I don't like wasting food. At least the noodles were cooked correctly and I wasn't eating a bowl of mush. Overall this place is very disappointing for the food, skip it. The people here are friendly-ish and accommodating (they let my friend practice and work on her Vietnamese when ordering the food).

The Chicken Wing appetizer was excellent! The chicken was crispy and seasoned well. Juicy on the inside and stir fried with chilies and onions that gave it a kick. A must order. The pho is alright - I understand that this is Ireland and they don't have enough customers ordering it to warrant huge pots of broth cooking on the stove top. I got the Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) and the broth was a strange murky brown - that's when I realized they probably use the same beef broth for Pho Bo (Beef Pho) and just reheated it. The taste of everything is alright, but I have a high standard for pho so I wouldn't order this again. Chicken pho should be served with pure chicken soup. We also ordered a slice of chocolate cake for kicks. This was excellent. There was a warm sauce that oozed out in the middle and it tasted very rich. I only wish that I had a glass of milk! There was only one woman working the counter, who I assume is the owner. She was very sweet. We tried coming back Saturday morning but it was closed - despite their hours on the store.

The menu is simple and offers only a few options, my favourite kind of menu as I'm the sort who easily becomes overburdened with choice (first world problems). The interior has a lovely wooden finish to it that makes it feel like it's still a work-in-progress but, that's like, totally cool man. There's a long wooden bench on one side of the room & a few chairs & tables outside, perfect for summer vibes (if it happens to be sunny in Ireland) I went for the *organic* eggs & homemade beans and also a matcha green tea latte. Well the matcha tasted great, but the eggs & beans were really scrumptious. They came out in a cardboard box which actually just worked given the style of the place. It's a good sign when you're eating the food of a place that all you can think about is what everything else on the menu tastes like. I'll update with pics when I inevitably return. In short: A cool place to start your day & my new favourite place for weekend breakfasting. Those eggs though.

The tills broke as soon as they opened the doors, and we did have to wait a little past when they said they were opening because the staff weren't ready yet. Service was slow, but in fairness, there was a long line of people out the door. When you order, you select a main (the meat or main veggie part of your meal), your base (rice, greens, etc), and a sprinkle topping. I went for the Vietnamese chicken, on brown rice with spinach and crushed almonds. It came with a peanut butter vinaigrette, which was light enough to flavour the dish, but not too oily or overpowering. As someone else posted, the servings do look small. But, that being said, I was fairly full after eating mine, so I think it may just look a bit small because of the container it was in. I do, however, wish there had been more meat on my dish. My serving was definitely less than one full chicken fillet. BUT, the chicken that was on there was SO tender and juicy. Their breakfast menu looks like quite good, and I look forward to going back and checking out the breakfast menu. It's nice having more healthy options available for lunch in this area, and it's a fairly good price for lunch (7.50 for the box of food unless you get extras). The juices and other drinks there are more than I would pay, but price wise their food is pretty much the same as a burrito/bowl at tolteca across the street. This place is good, and has promise. It just needs to work out a few kinks before I can give it more stars. If their meat portions were just a bit larger, and they can get into a groove where they speed their service up, I'd say this place will do great.
