Tom Yum Soup w/Prawns-Spicy & sour soup, with mushrooms, lemongrass, lime leaves, galangal & chili
Kathy K.

You have to go up two flights of stairs to reach this tiny Thai restaurant. (And another two for the toilet) The restaurant filled up quickly on a Friday evening so I would suggest you make reservations. If you make the reservations online be aware that they will call you back almost immediately to confirm. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we had the table until 8:30. Nice ambiance with Thai decor and music playing softly in the background. We were dressed in jeans and dressy shirts and we felt comfortable. Several people were dressed up for what looked like a date night. Unless your younger children are very well behaved, I wouldn't bring them here for an evening meal. (The tables are just too close; there's not a lot of wiggle room.) As we looked over the menu, a basket of Prawn Crackers was placed on our table. New discovery-YUMMY! (I hope I can find these in the Asian Market back home.) For a starter, the hubby ordered Tom Yum Soup w/Prawns. I had the Tom Ka Soup w/chicken. Both soups were delicious. For the main course, the hubby had his usual, Pad Thai w/Chicken. I had the Green Curry w/chicken and a side of steamed rice. If the stairs aren't a problem then I would say give this restaurant a try. The servers were friendly, observant and efficient. The food was good and the portions generous. (TIP: Dishes that contain chill are cooked to MEDIUM spiciness. If you want your dish milder or spicier make sure to let the server know,)

Very delicious and highly recommend booking a reservation as the space is small and seems to have a lot of fans. The food was extremely fresh and was smoking hot! (as in temperature, which was a great thing) The staff was very kind and accomodating and gave exceptional service. The red curry was flavorful and the rice was cooked to perfection.

Dessert menu

Great food ( crispy duck, pad Thai, stir fry), desserts and service with a nice atmosphere

I love Thai food and eat it regularly in my home town of Phoenix Arizona. When we came to Dublin and my niece wanted to eat at this restaurant, I was so pleasantly surprised at how exceptional this meal was. I had the Penang curry with chicken, which is my standard dish, and this was the best version I have ever eaten. I need to send my local place to Dublin to learn how the curry is made here. Phenomenal flavor, spicy but not too much, and great service too. Will definitely come back the next time I am in Dublin. The niece had Stir Fry Broccoli with Tofu and she loved hers too

This place is just a few blocks from where we are staying and apparently a big local spot. Don't be tricked by what you know as Thai cuisine and it's normal spice level. Where we come from in Florida Thai hot is the usual extreme, here there are no levels. What you order is the heat level just comes standard, so that's something to keep in mind. Located in between some local pubs, the restaurant is upstairs with another level on top of that. We ordered the chicken yellow curry and the mixed platter both with steamed jasmine rice. The mixed platter had a little bit of everything and served with a peanut based sauce (touch spicy) and a vinegar marinated garnish based sauce (definitely had a kick to it). The platter had all fried food including one of each the wonton, vegetable spring roll, shrimp wrap, chicken satay, and squid. Very good and I really liked the vinegar based sauce. My poor bf on the other hand could get passed a few bites of his yellow curry. Poor guy wasn't nor was I expecting a American hot level of spice. The soup base itself is flavorful, but does have quite a kick to it that isn't for those you can't handle heat. All the rice in the world couldn't help him tonight. Unfortunately for him the curry was delicious to me and the chicken and potatoes in it were cooked perfectly and to my heat level. The menu is extensive, but worth trying any of their yummy looking dishes.

Green curry with chicken (very spicy and very delicious)

Very good food. And the early bird is great value for money. Two courses for 19e at the time I went, and while the options on that menu are more limited compared to the a la carte, it is pretty much a greatest hits collection. The Tom yum kun was delicious and full of prawns. And the green curry I ate was spicy and packed with flavour (as well as generous helpings of chicken and red peppers). The server asked if I wanted it mild or hot or very spicy. I went with very spicy and did not regret it, though I was sweating like an animal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff are very nice. The drinks however are not very cheap. I guess the area it's in, coupled with the fact that they have to make money somewhere it makes sense. If the food stays this good I'll gladly stick with the expensive beers. Definitely worth a visit, especially for the early bird.

Red. Duck. Curry. Say it again. Red Duck Curry. Gorgeous, fragrant and so filling, the red duck curry at Baan Thai is the tasty centrepiece of an authentic Thai lunch. The restaurant is admittedly small with tables so close to each other you're likely to end up sharing elbow room with the diners next to you.The dark wood panelling and curtained windows, when combined with a tasty RED DUCK CURRY, are the perfect sedative. Be sure to follow your meal with an espresso or you'll never make it back to work. Every time I've been in the staff have been unfailingly polite. They work hard to keep big groups as happy as a table for two, keeping glasses filled and dishes coming as close together as possible. There's great value for the Merrion Road prices, while that 2-course lunch special is €18, it's seriously filling. What's my favourite dish there? ... actually, the name escapes me right now.

Gorgeous red curry!

Gorgeous food and wonderful service, this was such a surprise to find especially given it's just around the corner from me and I never knew it existed! The red curry (we had chicken & duck) was sooooo good. The chefs and all ingredients are Thailand and that shows through. A big shout out to our server Arm who was so funny & attentive... and makes a mean post-dinner cocktail! All in all a great night out, and given the quality of food, fantastic value!

Everything was individually packaged in environmentally conscious containers. There were no utensils included, so make sure you ask. I ordered two dishes. The starters included the two-piece Sriracha Chicken Wings. The flavors were nice, the wings are very small, but understandable since it was only about €2~€3. My main dish was Green Curry with Duck and Jasmine Rice. The curry was incredibly creamy--both the consistency and the taste. I do have a strong caveat with the taste. It wasn't terrible, but the curry itself was salty. I might be picky with my Asian food, as an Asian person coming from the US. That's the main reason why I knocked a star off, because it is the *main* dish. For drinks, I just ordered kombucha and water. They had a nice selection to choose from. I did notice that if you select a Meal Deal, the only drinks included are the sodas, so I couldn't even select a simple still water drink. Being a tourist, I would probably order elsewhere to explore the different restaurants. The cost is also on the more expensive side. I would give 3.5 stars if I could.

I worked nearby the "small little gem" as another Yelper aptly put it. I was looking for decent places where I could grab a quick lunch and be satisfied with what I got for myself. I walked in that day and was served by the elderly gentleman who I till to this day haven't properly introduced myself. Even though these are the circumstances, he knows my custom order by heart which he recommended the first day itself. I walked in not knowing what to order and he told me "Try our Red curry." I decided to listen to him. He asked me if I wanted rice or noodles and I didn't know what to go for. He recommended I try a mixture of both. God bless you my man. That was one amazing lunch. I fell in love with the place. Modest by all means, not a place anyone would notice as it is hidden among all the big shot restaurants in the bustle of Baggot Street. The portions he serves are large and most definitely something that would satiate even the hungriest of souls. I couldn't recommend this place more. A must try if you're in the area for a good and filling lunch. Beware, you won't find any of the other Thai places in Dublin good once you try Yum Thai as it definitely is one of a kind.
