Who would have thought that Ireland would have fast and delicious Thai food so readily available?? Certainly not me! But it DOES exist! The food here was delicious (and spicy!). They have a menu that is posted on the left side of the restaurant when you walk in. The menu has a scale of spiciness based upon the number of chili peppers next to the dish. The more chili peppers, the spicier the dish. I ordered a dish with only one chili pepper next to the name and it was pretty spicy! Despite eating in the restaurant, the food was packaged to go. I think they do this for all the orders. They restaurant offers plastic plates and utensils so that you can eat in if you'd like or take the food as carry out. I ordered my food at the counter, and then waited for them to call my dish. I can't remember what we ordered, but stay away from the fried rice. They charge an extra euro for fried rice but it really did not taste like anything. Its better to just stick with white rice. Also, as an FYI, their noodle dish was really oily--but tasted delicious! The food was prepared quickly, and was steaming hot from the kitchen. If I lived in this area, it would be my go to place for meals. read more

I do like this place. Late home from work or just feeling lazy. This is my go to place. Call in and order, phone in and collect or get it delivered. I've tried. It's things from curries to stir fried to noodle dishes. All good and all consistent which is what you want. The portion sizes look small in the boxes but when you empty it out on a plate you wonder how you'll eat it all on. If you're eating in you can order beers too. read more

The interior is kept simple and clean, white walls, high bar-stool seating, a counter to order with an the open kitchen in the back. The food comes in disposable boxes but you're welcome to stay and have your Pad Thai, Green Curry, or Fried Rice on disposable dishes. So far, I tried all of the above and was very pleased with the quality and the taste. One thing I'm not pleased with (and that's why only 3 stars) is the price - you can easily spend more than 30 Euros for two people for your lunch, way too much for a fast food-ish place, if you ask me. read more

Such a great spot with amazing quality food at great prices. The portions that I got with my order was huge, I couldn't finish it all! I got the Pia Nua, delicious! It's a warm beef salad with lemongrass, tomatoes, shallots and coriander - so much food for €8. I also go a Tom Yam soup with prawns, that's basically a clear soup for €5.50. It's grand... Like grand... I've had it for take away a few times, it's nice... enjoyable but it's not show stopping or memorable. The flavours are all very tame, I like mine thai food to have a good splash of spice in it, ok not fiery hot that will burn my insides but that authentic medium/hot side. Finally found what I have been looking for almost a year.....splendid Thai takeaway in Dublin :-))) After having had an abundance of fabulous Thai food in Sydney finding a replacement has been a long and arduous process and I must admit this place made my day. Fabulous green curry, good beef mussaman and the larb gai was well worth the wait. The chicken satay is something I would never order again but the rest of the meal was faultless. I give five stars for Kanum Green Curry, particularly with the Fried Rice. I might have a slight addiction to this combination, and got my flatmates hooked on it too! For delivery, they are also really fast, and I've always had a good experience with them. The only reason I give four stars instead of five is that some of their dishes, like their hot dishes are really really really hot. Like I almost can't taste the food because it's so hot! I've tried all three of the fried rice dishes, and the spicy one is definitely the best (Khao Pad Krapow), but warning it IS very hot! Kanum Thai just opened on 16 July 2009. It occupies the space formerly let to Baggot Racing (http://www.flickr.com/photos/infomatique/3645910216/), and has completely redecorated: it has a few clean white and silver interior with lunch-counter like high bamboo chairs, but this is not primarily a sit-down destination. Everything is served for take-away, in disposable containers with wooden disposable spoons or chopsticks. The food is delicious -- at least, the drunken noodles, the Chiang Mai curry noodles, and the green curry with vegetables & tofu (all I've tried so far). Nicely spicy -- not at all bland, but shy of burning my palate off. As a vegetarian, this place will go high on my list of places I can get amazing, non-potato food in this town. They deliver! Tried this place the other night. I had a duck rice dish, it was a 2/3 on the spice scale. However it was almost uneatable. The hot sauce was so overpowering its all you could taste and it wasn't even that nice. I do like hot food but it can be hot and still have taste this didn't. Its also a bit pricey for eating off a plastic plate ( over 10euro for a main course ). If you want to do Thai street food, great but don't charge restaurant prices. All in all not to great. I have given two stars as the starter of duck rolls were quite pleasant. But that was about it. read more

The pad ki mao I ordered was more veggie/toppings than noodle and just a little too....wet; I also thought that it was on the saltier side. There was definitely potential of it being a great dish but I guess I just didn't like how it was super soggy and the noodles were hard to find - just a warning: it's spicy! Saturday evening had rolled around, and I could not be bothered to cook that night. So, I convinced my husband into some take away. We had both been craving some thai food, so we chose to try this place out as it was so close to our apartment. It is really convenient that you can order your food online, and either go pick it up or have it delivered. Unfortunately for my husband, we picked it up :) . The food was ready very quickly. We placed the order online, he got up, and was at the restaurant in less than 10 minutes, and it was already ready. We ordered the chicken and shrimp pad thai, and some chicken satay skewers. The single portion of pad thai was so big, that we easily shared it, and the chicken skewers. The pad thai was quite good, but the chicken skewers were just "eh". HOWEVER, even though we split our portion of pad thai, I was still STUFFED hours after we ate. Overall, not bad at all being full from splitting a 10 euro entree! read more

Massive portion, you could take one for two people and still be full (not overrated like me). I have always regrets followed by sleeping problems as I'm still full after four hours. We went for the prawn red spicy curry (not that spicy though) and Singapore fried chicken rice. All was washed down by Thai beer. Food was nice but it was too much :-/ (well, I cannot complain, my fault ;-)). My problem is that anytime we go there for Singapore noodles/rice I can feel pork taste. Maybe the spices or maybe the stock they are use but this puts me off. Prawn curry was great I have no issues to this one. I love love love this takeaway. The food is sensational, really fresh & tasty, full of delicious flavours. They are also pretty friendly to coeliacs which is great. The service has always been really friendly & efficient & they usually deliver to me within 20 minutes. My favourite dish is the duck salad. I could eat this every day. They also do a daily special. I find their food decent value too for the quality, which is why I keep ordering from them. My only criticism is that their chips aren't great & any time I have ordered them they have been slightly under-cooked. Definitely try this place. read more

Kanum is essentially a takeaway/delivery outlet and if you're looking to dine-in, you're probably better-off going someplace else. My favourite thing about Kanum is their Curries--especially the Gaeng Kheow Wan (aka Thai Green Curry). If you're up for something spicier, I would recommend the Chu Chee (Red Curry) in all its glorious flavour--especially the Kaffir Lime. The Pad Thai Noodles are supposed to be their signature dish, but I thought it wasn't anything special, but nothing to complain about, at the same time. read more

Finally a place that knows how to make food hot AND tasty! We had the Gaeng Kheow Wan, one with duck and one with chicken and were both really pleased. The portions are huge and I really couldn't finish my rice, it was just too much. I was a little shocked about the price of a Chang beer, which cost more than 3 €. I had just bought the same beer in Germany for 0,69 €. At that price I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the beer so I stuck with water. But prices in Ireland are skyhigh compared to German prices anyway, so maybe it's just me?! Nevertheless, the food is great and we'd go there again. read more

Been meaning to try Kanum for a while now and we finally managed to recently when we ate on location. I had the Singapore Fried Rice with chicken. And there was lots of it. I managed about two thirds, but after about half of it I started to struggle. My partners meal of the Khao Pad Krapow with Duck was described as Hot. But it was overloaded with chilli to the point he couldn't taste much after a few mouthfuls. The décor is nice. There is a sort of open kitchen, although you can't really see what cooking. There is a mixture of high counters and some tables, but mainly high counters. I guess their main business is take out and delivery. They do have plastic plates if you want to transfer your dinner from the takeout box. Chopsticks, plastic cutlery and napkins all on hand also. I would like to try a few more things, so I may be back should the opportunity present itself. But that's if I'm not with my partner, he wont be back. Oh well. read more

This is great. I'm thrilled to have a nice Asian take away down the road. So I was pretty excited when I went to try it out. So, it's nice and they give you chop sticks (yay, I love chop sticks) and the food is good, but I think it's a little expensive. They have Diep Noodle prices and while Diep has the reputation and the brand going on, Kanum is a brand new unknown. So, I had been hoping it would be a little more cheap and cheerful. Kanum has literally just opened a couple of days ago so I popped down to check it out, all in the name of yelp of course I went for the lunch menu and was really impressed with this little place. There's only a couple of table s and high stools, so I reckon they're targeting this as more of a take out/diep at home kind of place. It was really busy for a Monday lunchtime, with most of the tables taken up and about 5-10 people waiting on take out orders. I had the chicken noodle soup, which had a 25%discount offer on until the end of the month - this is applicable to the entire menu. It came in two separate boxes - the chicken broth/soup with chicken pieces in one half, the vermicelli noodles in the other. It was yum! Ill definitely be returning. read more

Kanum is probably your best option when you want to order food online in Dublin. The quality of their thai delicacies is unmatched by any pizza-flavoured cardboard or deep fried love handles you can buy in other places. As expected, such good food comes at a price: you will spend at least 25 euros just to order two main courses for delivery, and if you add appetizers or options you will get dangerously close to 40 euros for two people. This without drinks, of course. So, recommended if you are willing to spend something more to get much better food than usual. Also, be careful with their deliveries: the quality of the service is inconsistent, and from time to time they will give you the wrong order or forget items. Have to say that this place has quickly gone from a favorite to a huge disappointment. The quality is suddenly very inconsistent. One time the pad thai was almost soupy, the next dry and stuck together. They also keep forgetting little requests like extra lime slices even when it appears on the ticket. Terrible!!!! Absolutely terrible. First, the delivery guy was clueless to where he was going, and as we live on a main road..... Right down from the restaurant, it shouldn't have been that hard to find. Our food was cold when it got here. Wouldn't normally order chips, but did and totally regret it. Oven chips would have been better. My pad thai was so greasy. And my boyfriend says his pad prik was pad sick. Lol. The ONLY good thing, was the prawns.. So big and cooked perfectly, but only got 3 in my dish. So disappointed!!! We just moved to this area and was looking forward to our first takeaway.. Wouldn't recommend or order here again! In work, Kanum is our go to take out! The portions are so good that one dish between two at lunch is plenty! We tend to go for the Pad Thai and prawn crackers. Sometimes they throw in the prawn crackers for free which means a very tasty lunch works out at €5 each otherwise is €6 (not that I am complaining with that). The prawn crackers are ridiculous, I would nearly order them on their own. Staff are always friendly and we are never left waiting long even when it's very busy. read more

Kaffir lime...yes!! When Kanum says your dish has kaffir lime, it really does include a generous portion of leaves which impart that lovely floral piney aroma which words can't describe. The first bite of the Chu Chi curry, with the perfect balance of soothing cocunut milk to stimulating curry, I reflexively looked skyward with gratitude. The fried tofu pad krapow, though not quite as divine as the Chu Chi, was also good. The service is alarmingly fast - less than 5 minutes from order to steaming food on your table (if you eat in house). Rebuttal to reviewers who have given the restaurant a low rating because the food is hot: (1) This is Thai food, which is inherently spicy. Rating Thai food low because it's spicy is like rating an excellent steak low because it isn't slathered in hot sauce. Come on. 2) The menu specifies a hotness range from mild to hot. If you order anything other than mild, you have no grounds to criticize as too hot. (3) Most of the heat comes from the discrete pieces of red pepper in each dish. If you don't want too much heat, don't eat the peppers. We've eaten here 2 of the last 3 nights, and might be about to make it 3 out of 4... read more
