The place is actually called Pho Kim now and it is also shown on Google Map as such. Regardless, the food is quite good. Pork crispy rolls have good portion of stuffing that is nicely seasoned. Special pho has super generous portion size for the price, soup was packed with beefy broth flavor, even greater with a bit of hot sauce. The beef products also tasted nice, especially the meatball, they taste like something with good portion of meat instead of the cheap ones with a lot of flour mixed in them. Pho in the middle of Ireland? Sure, anything is possible with a fast search on Yelp! Dublin was so cold in January that we wanted some nice hot soup and noodles. We found Pho Viet and it definitely did not disappoint. Some people don't like it but I definitely love picture menus because pictures do mean a lot more than descriptions to me. Shortly after our arrival we got our water and huge picture menus with both English and Vietnamese descriptions. It was great! Our order did not disappoint. We received a huge bowl of steaming hot soup and noodles with delicious beef and Seafood. Serves on the side where the usual Chinese parsley, lemon, bean sprouts and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Service is fast and friendly, they accept credit cards, and the restaurant is very clean. Their bun bo hue (spicy vermicelli) was SO good. I was craving it for so long and it definitely hit the spot with the broth. The broth tasted like it was made in Vietnam. I was so proud of this dish. However, their pho was nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn't that bad, but wasn't that good. Now, I don't know if that's how they season it in Europe because they do use different noodles than back in the states, but even the pho in Vietnam isn't like that? But this place did give hoisin sauce and siracha which is already better than the other pho place I ate at where they just gave me fish sauce? Customer service here was quick and good. In our search for vegetarian Vietnamese soup, we ended up at Pho Viet. The restaurant got very busy very fast, and appears to be popular. We got the vegetarian pancake and pho. The soup didn't have an authentic flavor and was more of a vegetable soup with the right noodles. Still, it satisfied the craving for a hot soup on a windy day. However, the pancake was delicious and I would definitely recommend it! Be warned though, everything on the menu is pretty pricy. If you are desperate for vegetarian pho and can't find any options, then maybe you should give Pho Viet a go. Otherwise, I would steer clear. I'm vegan and love all the options for me. the food is nutritious and I never feel like I've eaten take away food when I finish. it's fresh and most any time I venture out from eating at home, this is the place I want to go! There is only one waitress that is really opposite of good customer service (and she was my waitress/server several times), but apart from that I have great experience with this place. What a fantastic little restaurant. We arrived late in Dublin, checked into the hotel and wanted to find a place to eat. We spotted this Vietnamese place. When in Ireland, eat Vietnamese food - right?! This was my first time ever in a V. restaurant. I had no idea what to order and unfortunately now cannot remember what I had. (I'll add photos of mine and my wife's dishes soon - on my phone.) I started with a Hanoi beer, which was a nice light lager with a decent taste. My dish though, which I didn't expect to be spicy was spicy. I don't mind spicy but not too much like you find with many Indian dishes. This one had just that ice little kick to it. On a cold autumn night, we got an Uber and ended up at Pho Viet. After two weeks of traveling through Europe and a traumatizing pho experience in Copenhagen, I was a bit skeptical with this Vietnamese restaurant. However, as soon as you enter the shop, you hear Vietnamese spoken and then the staff spoke Vietnamese. And the pho arrives. It was delicious and soothing and comforting, like at home, in California. The meat was tender. The broth had anais notes. All the herbs were there with no creative substitutes like carrots and celery. We were happy campers. We came back the following day to seek refuge from the wind and cold with more comfort food. When in Dublin, you Pho Viet. This shop is legit. The staff are friendly. Loved loved loved this place. It's very deceptive from the outside - it's not the small little cafe-like situation that it seems, in fact it goes for two levels and is really quite lovely inside. It's not super cosy, which is why ultimately I wouldn't give it five stars, but then again this is standard for many Asian restaurants like this, so to each their own. The lack of cosiness is absolutely made up for by the warm and friendly staff - they really are all so lovely and genuine and a pleasure to deal with. The real star of the show here though is the food. Fresh, massive portions, and really exquisitely tasty. There's something about the Vietnamese combination of chilli, coriander, garlic and special sauces like their fish sauce (unreal), that gets the tastebuds zing. I had the pork and chicken salad starter, which was nearly big enough to be a main, and the beef pho for main - again massive, with so much really great quality tender meat. You know what I like? Finding good Asian restaurants in Dublin. It's still rare enough when you're not eating Japanese as that is everywhere, well, this place definitely hits the spot! In terms of ambience, we sat upstairs, had the top floor to ourselves which would be really nice for a big group, and we were treated to somewhat cheesy elevator/hotel lounge type music, but never mind that. Food wise, there were plenty of options on offer, both for starters and mains, which is always good. I opted just for the main, I did order the satay rice dish which to start off with was a bit confusing as what was listed on the menu was very different from what I actually got, but what I got *was* delicious. Just based on that experience though if you do have allergies or just something you don't like I'd definitely confirm when you order what's in your dish. That said, don't let that put you off going there! The staff were really lovely here. Service for mains was a little bit slow but maybe that was because most diners were downstairs and we were upstairs, and on the flip side I guess it means the food is made fresh when you order. When the dishes were ready, they send it up in a little food elevator which is kinda cool! The real surprise though came at the end of the meal when I ordered a hot chocolate. Made with real chocolate, it was absolutely delicious and a tall glass too, so good. Overall, it was a nice dining experience. Food seemed pretty fresh and overall quite healthy, so if you are an Asian food enthusiast and want something a bit different from the standard Japanese or Chinese, this is not a bad option at all. read more

The luck of the Irish gets them the best pho I've had in my entire stay in Europe this summer. The owner is from Saigon, and carefully cooks the broth with slowly simmered beef bones. This makes a difference. The broth is the golden foundation for a good bowl of pho, and in a climate like Ireland's, this dish is sure to grow in popularity. The restaurant is clean, with friendly service, and it is completely Vietnamese mom approved. My mom and I went back here two nights in a row with consistent good service and repeated quality food. Highly recommend the bun bo hue and the pho. They take huge pride in being one of three Vietnamese restaurants in Dublin, and I'm happy to say they are great food ambassadors of my native country. To the naysayers that this isn't authentic, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Have you talked to the owners? Have you tasted the broth? The noodles are cooked al dente, the broth comes out piping hot, and the cuts of meat are completely high quality. They take pride in their food here in its quality and authenticity. I grew up in Vietnam the first eight years of my life, have had pho up and down Vietnam from Ha Noi to Saigon, not to mention the over twenty years of living off of pho in Seattle, where we have pho restaurants at every other door down the majority of our commercial restaurant areas to help us cope with the city being rainy 99% of the year. This is as good as it gets. My mom says the last time she tasted pho with this much flavor and richness in taste and aroma was in her hometown IN VIETNAM. Don't question the momma taste buds. Go here, and you will not be dissapointed. However, if you would like to continue to eat unhealthy, MSG-laden, chemical filled inauthentic pho, please proceed to do so, just don't question a business about its magic or inauthenticity when it's completely delicious and tasty due to the effort and quality of cooking and ingredients, not a dependency on chemical-flavors to make the food taste good. TRADITIONAL PHO AVAILABLE IN THE CITY CENTRE. One of my favorite meals to eat is in fact, Pho. I love the Pho Tom bowl with extra veggies and spices. I eat pho everywhere I go and was more than exited to find out Dublin has a restaurant that serves it. I was then disappointed (despite the other reviews that rave about Pho Viet) with this spot. I must've come on a day with a different menu, because the prices were higher than posted about on here. For example, a bowl of pho is about 10 euro. I dropped in and planned to order pho, but I needed my lunch to go and the only thing available was salad (given my 30 minute window). My prawn salad for takeaway was 8 euro. It was SMALL. REALLY small. I actually took a picture and the picture made it seem larger- Disclaimer: Objects in my camera apparently make meals larger than they are in real life. Camera lens like like a side mirror on a car. I wouldn't be against the 8 euro for a salad, but I was not impressed with the small portion at all, especially considering what was in it: sprouts, prawns, carrot slices, and a oil/chile dressing. It tasted fine but I was underwhelmed. I am still giving this place 3 stars for 3 reasons: 1. It's clean and presentable. 2. The staff friendly and grand. 3. Among the best pho I have ever had. And that includes multiple visits to Vietnam. Great little Viet restaurant just far enough away from Temple Bar and the tourist madness. Good experience, despite of the "elevator music", despite the blue Monday (supposed to be the saddest day in the year). I went for the Tom Nijong (big prawn over the grill with sweet - spicy ) and the prawn and chicken with steamed rice, on the site a Saigon beer to get the local taste. The portions are generous, the ingredients tasty and the combination of colours and smells really nice. The venue is OK, a modest decoration outweighed by the friendly staff. Crazy nights means hungover afternoons which means pho for the cure. I was on a hunt for pho in Ireland and found the closest and decently rated viet place in Dublin. Upon entering, the restaurant was fairly packed which was a good sign. I opted for the pho while my friend got the vermicelli. I was soooo hangry and hungover and it took forever for our dishes to come out. Pho is usually the easiest and quickest thing to make, so I was so confused on why it took so long for our food to come out. Anyways, the pho was decent. I mean it's probably as good as it gets for viet food in Ireland. The meat was pretty dry as well. They had metal American spoons and not the regular soup spoons which I was also confused about. I ordered the meat spring rolls as a starter, but in hindsight should have order the vegetable spring rolls as the meat one had a flavour that didn't suit me. My main I went for the Mon Xao: Special stir fry that had a mixture of beef, chicken and prawns stir fried with onion, carrot, broccoli and mushroom. It was much nicer on my palate, the meat was lovely and tender. The veg nice and base sauce/ broth very tasty. I would definitely have this on a return visit. The wine we ordered was also very nice, I think was the Sauvingnon Blanc, which was also very good value. Which I find always seems to be the case in Dublin Asian restaurants. Recommended. read more

We've tried the pho and the bun bo hue our first time there - just two simple classic dishes, as there is nothing better than steaming hot bowls of noodle soup for a wintery afternoon. I love discovering great places to eat! (Thanks Emily for bringing some of us here!) I think I only once before had Vietnamese food. And I'm sure I'll remember this one better. Obviously I can't judge but it tasted pretty authentic to me - definitely not like any other cuisine. As we had a reservation for seven people we were seated upstairs which on this Monday evening we had to ourselves. Which made it easier to chat but also took a bit away from the atmosphere. Together with their choice of background music which definitely didn't suit. But the food...YAY. I finally got to try fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. I had them with prawns and pork. You need to get used to the consistency of the rice paper which was a bit sticky but they tasted very good and were indeed fresh and with crisp salad. They came with satay sauce. But again not what I'm used to from say Thai food. The sauce was a bit sourly so I had to get used to it. But I did no problem. As a main I had Bun Tom Bo Nuong (Grilled prawn and beef with vermicelli rice noodles). There's no sauce in the dish itself but it's served with sweet chilly sauce which makes it a very light if filling dish. Again I loved the taste of it. A lot. The interiour is very simple which again helps with the authenic feel of it. And seeing vietnamese (I assume) customers is always a good sign too. Always busy, always Tasty. I've never been to Vietnam so can only speak of this as my first experience of the Pho staple. Tasty, warming and good value. Any prawn starters are highly recommended especially the Goi Tom Thit (pork and prawn salad) and Banh Xeo (prawn and pork pancake served in lettuce leaves). The Pho is consistently tasty. Large portions. Ambiance leaves a little to be desired but restaurant is clean and always busy. 10% service charge which is unusual for a restaurant on Parnell Street. Still great value. Meal for two never pushes over €30 without wine/beer. They have been granted a license but are still BYOB at €5 per bottle of wine and €1 per bottle of beer. Tenderest. Chicken. Ever. I still can't believe it was actually chicken! No idea how they got it to happen but that curry will tantalize my dreams forever. The only thing that makes this review 4 stars instead of the full 5 is that I felt a little let down when I went to have a slice of the beef in the pho and it was slightly tough rather than that really tender morsel you dream about (if you're one to dream about pho). We got the fresh spring roll appetizer which came with prawns inside and really great flavor from the mint - was also just really well rolled, stayed together easily but had no difficulty biting bits off regardless. Price was very reasonable for the quality, and really for a pho place I thought they had very good service, definitely far better than I've experienced elsewhere. The decorations were pretty standard, created a nice atmosphere which was casual without being trashy! They do have seating upstairs but it wasn't busy enough when we were there to necessitate opening it, so all the patrons were down near the door. However, the setup didn't feel cramped or busy and we didn't even notice various groups come in or leave (e.g. nobody squeezing by our table knocking things off or hitting elbows), which is always a plus! I enjoyed the fresh spring rolls to start, and then had the chicken, prawn, and veggies served over vermicelli for my main. Both dishes were really tasty, but like anything else, the sauces made them.
