I have dealt with these guys for years. I've bought a couple of different motorcycles from them, and some riding gear. I have also brought in my bikes for service here for years, without any issues. (I wish I could say the same about Action Motorcycles in Esquimalt...) I always thought I was treated reasonably well and that they answered my questions. Their rates are the same as any other shop in town. Overall good and I will keep dealing with them. read more

Can't say enough about these people. On our first day of our vacation boating in the islands our outboard motor started giving us problems on our dinghy. We called them early in the morning and explained our situation. They handed me directly over to a mechanic who tried to help me over the phone with a few tips, when that was a no-go they dispatched a truck and trailer and came right to the marina and picked up our dinghy and took it back to their shop. They completely rebuilt the carburetors and flush the fuel system and got the dinghy back to us the same day! Outstanding customer service and professionalism. If I ever had a problem again while visiting Victoria I would not hesitate to call on their expertise again. read more

I have sent this complaint in to SG Power 2 times already, with no response. Around May 17, 2019, I had my Kodiak 450 quad in for carburetor tuning and repairs. The quad was in your shop for 2 weeks, in which the carburetor diaphragm was replaced. We took it out and it continued to run very rough. I brought it back for another repair. It ran for another few weeks, then failed. This year, I decided to investigate the matter personally, and with a mechanic friend, we took the carburetor apart. What we found was astonishing. 1) First, the rubber barrier under the gas tank was missing, 2) The float needle valve was incorrectly tuned (pouring gas from the overflow). I replaced the needle valve set, and it still poured gas. I had to re-tune the float. 3) A clip on the float needle valve was also missing. 4) The spring in the needle set diaphragm assembly was also missing, causing the needle to jump out of the hole in the carburetor. This was the main reason the quad was running rough. So, I had to purchase another needle diaphragm set (5ND-1490J-10) and that cleared up the issues. Due to your repair technicians unprofessional and ineffective work, the quad repair cost me a ton of time and money to get it done right. These guys are horrible mechanics and horrible at customer service, but great at taking your money and ripping you off. WARNING, STAY AWAY. read more

Impossible to get proper warranty work done correctly and quickly. I had a Moto Guzzi in their repair bay for ONE FULL YEAR. The bike has now been towed by the manufacturer to another dealership which promises a quick fix. I have never experienced a situation like this in thirty years of riding or in any industry for that matter. The bike was once returned to me with an empty tank and a dead battery and still non-functioning. Even the tires were running low as it had been sitting so long. There seems to be a real lack of cooperation with the distributor of this brand but nevertheless SG Power has dropped the ball several times here. Insolent staff displayed malicious obedience to the manufacturer who was honestly trying to solve the situation. Any skilled mechanic should have been able to diagnose the situation. Instead, the bike sat in their service bay from Sept 2107 to Sep 2018. In their favour they have offered demo bikes for periods to appease me but it was mostly a crude attempt to sell me yet another bike they couldn't fix. They just didn't want to take ownership of this situation and are incapable of performing the most basic of maintenance tasks. The bike arrived at my place last week without the headlight connected to the wiring harness. Inexplicable. Enroute now to skilled mechanics. I doubt SG Power could fix a basic lawn mower. Have bought two bikes here. Never again. Avoid as if your life depended on it. It just might. read more

Prices were higher than other stores, - did not buy from them negative experience.

Horrendously expensive! It cost me $500 for an oil change and inspection on my quad, I asked them to replace an air hose and they didn't even do that. I complete rip-off and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Brought my RV in to remove and replace the wiring harness which IU supplied. RV dealers were way out of town thought I'd save time and money. Instead, SG Powers charged me double what an RV dealer would charge for a simple repair. Brought the trailer in on a Wednesday, didn't have it repaired until Tuesday; other emergencies pushed my work till later. No one helped me hook up my trailer when I paid the $431 bill (charge $120/hour for three hours to replace a cable?). Over priced, no customer service, huge disappointment in the in the total customer experience. Never will do business with them again! read more

Please do not waste your time or hard earned money on this company. They WILL NOT take responsibility for their actions, including fixing my bike after THEY returned it to me with missing parts in it that were absolutely there prior to arrival. So awful and incredibly rude people. Go elsewhere. I'm out 1300 because they refuse to right their wrongs. Its sickening read more

Don't service your bike here, these guys will rip you off. I'm a new rider and don't know much about motorcycles. Asked them to look mine over and was told it needed new brake rotors, new brake pads, new chain, spark plugs and the carb needed cleaning (totaling about $2000 in parts and labour). The bike only has 10k on it, so I got a second opinion at Victoria Motorcycle Sales. The only thing that actually needed replacing was the tires. Saved myself $1500, and the headache of dealing with these guys. read more

I went to get my ignition rewired after my bike got stolen and I told them that was what needed doing primarily. I also ordered a general tuneup package. They phoned me back and said they couldn't get it started so they didn't fo the tune up and that it wouldn't likely be worth it to fix my bike. I said can you still tune it up and I'll figure out the ignition the later and was told yes . When I went to pick up the bike the tuneup hadn't been done and they had charged me 80$ to 'evaluate' the ignition problem when I'd already said what the problem was. Straight rip off and I would never go there to get mechanical work done again. read more

SG Power is amazing! The guys were so friendly, helpful and resourceful. They went above and beyond to help me fix my scooter for the lowest cost possible. They worked together to fix my problem and they are all heros! Special thanks to Tyler and the unknown guy who went with him to check the scooter graveyard for spare parts and to Damon for being sweet while I waited. THANK YOU!! read more

I've had a few bad experiences with SG Power. The first time, when I had a 50cc scooter, I needed it tuned up and get an oil change and such. So I went into the website to find the contact and there was an email option, so I emailed them that I needed a time up and incuded a date and time that works best for me. No reply. The day passed and I emailed them again thinking i had maybe not given enough notice, so I emailed again giving more notice. Again no reply at all!! I ended up going to Action because they actually answer their emails. The second time I went to SG power, I was looking to buy a new bike as I was to get my bike license the next month. So when I went in with my sister and brother we were just looking some of the inventory when a salesman asked my brother if he needed any help. He said "no, but she's looking for a bike." He then went to the back and got another salesman who approached the group, making eye contact with my brother, and simply said "I hear someone is looking for a bike." No "hey! Welcome to SG power," or "hi, I'm ____ can I help you with anything today." So I inquired about a bike I had been looking at and she showed me but they only had it in red so I asked if they had it in black and he said they might.... I then asked about price and he said he could go check but looked like he REALLY didn't want to walk all the way back to the desk to check the price. So he came back and priced it out and also informed me of crate fees and shipping costs as if I've never gone bike shopping before and I'm a complete idiot... And then proceeded to ask me "do you even have your license?" When I said I am taking the course and looking to buy one next month he rolled his eyes and said "how about you come back when you have your license." Handed me his card and walked inside. I just threw the card on the ground and left. Terrible customer service. Even though it's a bit further, I always ride to Action Motorcycles instead. They're always super friendly and nice there and do a great job in repairs and tune ups! read more

SG power is the worst in town. I've had a lot of lame interactions with this place. Long stories. One short story is I bought a super heavy duty motorcycle lock from them. Hundred bucks. Well,I took this thing home, turns out that in spite of the heavy duty construction, the lock itself can be opened with a paper clip. I brought it back and they just couldn't bring themselves to take responsibility. They told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer told me to take it up with SG. SG said it wasn't their problem. I have six motorcycles and I'll never spend another dime on a nickel bagger like SG again. read more

I was in the market for a good quality low hour used 225 hp outboard for my Grady White 228 Seafarer.I found a 2005 Honda BF 225 at SG Power Products.I was assisted in the sale by the Marine Dept Manager. The motor was listed at $12,995.00 I negotiated and was told the best price was $7999.99 I bought the motor and needed it rigged complete with all dash controls that were inclusive in the package.I live in Alberta so had SG pick up my boat and R & R the motor ,install new Binnacle shifter ,cables gauges ,etc .SG had the boat apparently ready for when I arrived in Victoria for my yearly fishing and family holidays(I live in Alberta).I was charged roughly 2000.00 to remove my old 225 hp Johnson ,install used Honda and cables, gauges were installed on dashboard (looked good).I was told it was sea ran and worked like a charm and all gauges worked properly.I was even charged for fuel they apparently put in the fuel tank.I picked the boat up towed to gas station then to Esquimalt Anglers and launched .Warmed up and headed out to sea to try it out .It would barely go up onto plane as throttle was hammered and the jumping out of the hole term didn't exist as it was like a sherman tank with plenty of throttle but obviously the motor was mounted way too low on pod bracket. I tried it a few times then returned to dock and towed immediately to SG .I forgot to mention rpm gauge didn't work fuel gauge didn't work speedometer didn't work power trim position gauge didn't work .Only working gauge was the battery.upon trailering the boat my winch strap that was frayed from the previous season after trailering on a steep and low tide at Jock's dock the strap finally snapped under the slightest winch load .Took back to SG and they raised the motor higher changed to a new stainless prop with different pitch .I complained they charged me to hook up the gauges and wasnt leaving until they all worked.A few hours later all was good aside from their cable routing which bound up and lasted a three week season and had to be replaced the next year . They even had to put in a new fuel sending unit for free as the one in it wasnt compatible with the new gauges i was told so how did they know how much fuel was even in it (below deck built in tank)I had them change my kicker bracket to the aluminum style everyone uses with no height adjustments and springs to maintain and somehow the one year old Garelick that I had on the boat disappeared while at their shop as I wanted it back (was 450 a year earlier) .Besides lying to me about the test run ripping me off for fuel and the gauges not working funny enough I was told when i bought it that the Honda had 500 hours on it.Oddly enough their Honda software laptop was apparently down so could not verify the hours for me and still I don't know the actual hours on the motor only what the digital gauge that came with the motor stated.I was told it was a commercial crabbers motor who traded it in for dual engines. The leg (below waterline)had been smeared with a white cream ( diaper type lol)for barnacle and seaweed protection indicating a high use- kept moored engine.Three years later I had to change the Shift Shaft when getting a tuneup and impeller change done at Alpine Marine (great service honest guys)and was told by the mechanic that he never heard of a shift shaft going on a honda outboard even with thousands of hours on the unit.I would never return to SG Power to buy any parts or do service work or buy any boats or engines from them ever again. read more

I have only recently dealt with the service department and not with the sales department. I received nothing but expertise, kindness and patience. I have dealt with Action Motorcycle for over 12 years and was satisfied....until today. I noticed last night that my front right running light was out as was my break light. Important items to have working. I called Action and they told me that it would require me booking a service appointment and that could take up to a week! A week for a ten minute service. 12 years I had been with them and they were going to let me ride around for a week without a break light. Went to SG Power and the guys in the service department had me up and running in less than 30 minutes. All Action would have had to do was look at my service history or ask me the model and year of my bike and then sell me some bulbs and call it a day. Anybody can install them I found out. I feel action was just wanting a service appointment so as to charge the obligatory one hour minimum service charge to install two bulbs which ended up costing me....installed less than 10.00. Shame on Action, thank you SG Power. You have a new client. read more

In this review I will only speak to the parts department, I did not interact with Sales or Service. I tried to buy a simple part for a carb, an o-ring. However, it apparently comes in a gasket set, fair enough. I received a printed quote on Aug 23/18 from their counter with a part# for the set at $11.86 I called in to parts on Sept 5/18 to order in the kit. I was told the kit would cost $17.91. So I said, I have a printed quote from SG Power at a lower price and he told me sorry, must be a mistake. He blamed the system and would not move on price. fair enough. As I was about to provide my cc # I asked if they could guarantee the o-ring was included with the kit as it was all I required. I was told they could not guarantee that, and that because it was special order it was non-refundable. Huh..? He's the part's guy, not me...how am I supposed to know how to buy the o-ring...? So to review, I was told I required kit X, but the price had gone up, and I could not be guaranteed the o-ring I wanted would be included, and it was non refundable....seriously? Seventeen plus dollars for an o-ring that would not fit over a pencil is a little rich but I was willing to buy it...so I am off to Action Motorcycles (250) 386-8364. SG Power...please give adequate part's knowledge training to your people, insist on 1st class customer experience (not argumentive), and honour your quotes. Finally, I am certain there are many people in part's...my apologies to the others who do come to work and provide the best customer experience everyday...I was only dealing with 1 individual... read more

No returns. Sold me a jacket that was dirty and had a rip. When I took it right back and showed them the rip they sent it back for warranty repair - no questions to me. Said it would take 2-3 weeks. After 5 weeks I stopped dealing with staff in Parts and went to manager. He said they had "just got it back". Would not let me return jacket for a new jacket. Said I hadn't told them it was dirty when I first turned it back so they couldn't get a new jacket form Joe Rocket and that they couldn't sell it as new (thought they had already sold it as new, to me). Offered to clean the jacket and give me $50 store credit. Spoke to owner. He gave me the option of paying a 35% ($105) "restocking" fee to get credit towards new one. I took the latter so I would never have to deal with these guys again. They're nice when they think they can sell you something, angry and hostile when asked to fix something wrong. Contrary to their "on-hold" blurb (which I heard many times), I did not have a stress-free time, I was not satisfied with customer service, I did not feel I was treated with fairness and respect. From now on I'll do all my motorcycle shopping at Action or Adrenaline or online. read more
