I went in on a quiet morning and there were five sales people on the floor. No one asked if I…read moreneeded help and when I asked for service after wandering around for 10 minutes, I was told someone would be with me shortly. They weren't and I saw two sales people answer the phone long after I had come in. Eventually, their newest sales person came to help me. She knew nothing and when she, twice, asked for help from the more experienced staff, they answered her and then abandoned her, despite it being obvious she was struggling. After 30 minutes I still didn't have a quote for a standard shower set as she still couldn't figure out the pricing, the parts etc. I asked her to email me the quote when she got it figured out and left. It's been a week and I'm still waiting for her email.

Glen(?)showed me a suggestion in oven cleaners then it was Hugh for the hidden bread maker. After a long time of searching the "back room" it was decided that indeed they did not have the breadmaker! After much work, again on the computer inventory, it was decided that yet another store had one. Hugh offered to have it sent to their store. So, a week later I went to pick it up n yes, it did not exist! I believe it was an owner n anotheranager who again spent much time to find that they no longer made the breadmakers! It was frustrating and annoying, but the staff were amazing -Not so much the computer inventory-- but it is a good store n staff! Pretty sure I owe Hugh n Glen a coffee -- can't wait to finally try that oven cleaner

Here's my shopping experience at Sooke Home Hardware on July 1st, 2021 at 10:30 am…read more I came to the store to get 2 items in that day's flyer in the Sooke Mirror - a cordless drill and some spray foam insulation - both out of stock. I left the store and went out to look at the 'garage sale" items in the parking lot. I found lots of items I wanted to purchase, and placed them near the outside cashier, who wasn't busy at the time. I asked her about the discounted price stickers on the items, to confirm that there was an additional 25% off the already discounted sticker. She said she never heard about that. I asked her to check with her supervisor. She came back and said the discounted price sticker was the price - there was no further discount. I told her I would be right back, got in my truck, drove over to Church Rd, and grabbed a Sooke Mirror from a red box by the mail boxes. I showed her the ad on the back page of the Mirror clearly saying, "an additional 25% off our discounted garage sale items". When I went to pay for my items, she was talking to another employee, who had been stacking wading pools outside. I said to him "She should have been told about the additional discount". He said to me "What's your problem? You got the discount." I said "I had to go get a newspaper to get the discount!". Unbelievable! Instead of apologizing for not keeping their employees informed, and for all the trouble I'd been put through, he says "What's your problem?" I think it might be time for management to review their employees' attitude towards customers.
