While I was building my bike I went to almost all the bike shops in the city and checked prices and products, simply took my time and search around. After I've done my research I found that there are lots of very good bike shops out there but this one was the best over all and Javier the guy who runs this shop was extremely helpful, generous and nice and let me use some of the tools plus gave lots of helpful advices. This shop is highly recommended. They got new bikes and sometimes used parts for less then half of the price.

The first time I wanted a banana seat for my kids 20" bike to give it the retro look of the 70s. The person at the counter didn't know what a banana seat was. So I checked my phone and the first thing that popped up was the YouTube of the song "Banana bike" which is hella cute. Still drawing blanks with her, so okay, no dice on the seat, time to move on as there are many bicycle shops in the area, no need to dwell on this one. (I went to a few more, without any luck, and finally ended up hitting the jackpot at Spin Cycle, which is the solo guy operating out of a container at Market 707, thank you!) The second time was a curbside when I wanted a helmet light after getting my bicycle mounted one stolen when I parked my bike for a 30 minute Chiro appointment. They were quick and efficient when I called them from outside on the phone and brought me what I needed. Easy. Paid for it at the doorway and was on my way with a sweet $55 USB light that can stay on my helmet and I can bring it with me when parking my bike. Thanks Urbane!

I've tried other bike shops that have been cheaper, but I'm always rushed or talked down to or not helped fully. At Sweet Pete's all the staff are so lovely and helpful and knowledgeable and QUICK! Im never made to feel bad because I don't know much about my bike mechanics, and they always tell me all the fees and time it will take up front. They changed out my flat tire on the spot, where at another place they held my bike overnight! In the past they helped me install my bike lock mount for free (which I had struggled with on my own), and they also gave me a free tire fill-up! The store is clean and well laid out and they always give me all the facts about products instead of upselling me like other places.. I really can't say enough great things. I also love that they have women working there! It feels very comforting to enter a bike shop that's not a dude fest. There was also a very friendly golden retriever one time and he was soft and adorable.

The staff here are as friendly to me as they are to any expert-level client, and that is awesome. So often the vibe in shops like this is aimed only at bike messenger-types, but that's not the case with Ride Away. No guff if you haven't tuned up in a while, good deals on new and used bikes and a truly caring staff that will walk you through stuff without being condescending.

WAS HUNG UP ON FOR ASKING A QUESTION. Really disappointed in…read moremy interaction with whoever answered the phone this morning (July 2, 2020). I bought an adult bike from Cyclepath in 2019 and was hoping to get one for my daughter this year. I called and someone answered - I was intentionally being very pleasant because i was asking if they had stock for a 24 inch bike and I know stock questions are annoying sometimes! He told me in a deadpan voice "no stock." Thats fine. I went to ask if there was a size smaller and he then cut me off (I didn't even get to specify the size) and he said again in the same annoyed voice that there was no stock. I asked for clarification that they had no stock at all and he responded extremely annoyed and rudely that they had no stock (please tell me how I am supposed to have known this? I never received the Cyclepath stock bulletin, smh). To which I responded: "ohhhkay, you do not have to be so rude" - not raising my voice, but genuinely making the statement because I did nothing to deserve the tone. He then said: "Rude? How am I being rude?" and HUNG up on me. This is just totally unnecessary - I was hoping we could get bikes from the entire family from this store because I had a nice experience last summer, but obviously we will be taking our business elsewhere.

The staff…read morehere really are true gems, they know so much & were so incredibly helpful when I didn't know much about the town. Dani and Christian were amazing in showing me what they had around the shop and also genuine about their experiences about the parts. I'd just flown in with my Brompton electric, without it's battery and they were kind enough to pilot their battery rental program with me! It was so amazing being able to use it to tour around the Toronto Islands, it truly was such a gift. Dani was also so resourceful and went through the bike map with me so that I knew the safest routes around Toronto. I also was able to nab a Brompton tool kit on sale & it was a stellar deal! They also carried a lot of post-market brompton parts that are kind of difficult to find so I would pop in and see what you can find.

I decided to find a true bike shop and had heard mixed reviews about some of the other local bike shops in Scarborough so I decided to do some research online and came across the Broom Wagon. I was impressed right off the bat as the store was immaculate with a great selection of bikes and accessories. I also met Marty who I believe owns the shop. He was knowledgeable, patient and offered a few tips that I could use in the future. Best of all, they werent trying to talk me into buying a million things that I didnt need and the final bill was much cheaper than the original estimate. Im glad I've found a bike shop that I can trust. I had two flat tires and because it was in storage, needed a bit of a tune up. I dropped the bike off on a Tuesday, and although he said it should be ready by the next day, I wasnt able to return until Thursday. On the way out, I received a free Toronto Cycle Paths Map and I was on my way. Only thing to consider is that if you go after 4pm, you cant park on their side of the street however across the street is fine. Thanks again Marty! My bike now rides like a dream!!
