The first trip to this coin store I had silver bullion to sell. They gave me spot. I thought, wonderful, they pay spot and that is all I can ask for. Second trip I had silver bullion and a few graded coins; 2013 W MS 69 Enhanced Silver Eagle, a few late 1880 MS 63 Barbers, MS 70 Eagles etc. The gentleman looked up each coin and provided me with a list of prices. The third visit was where I had a major problem with how I was treated. The man at the desk, Butch I think his name is, seemed like he didn't want to deal with looking anything up. He asked "What do you want for them?" which always an indicator that the buyer will take that number, drop it by 10-25% and hope you bite. I did not give him a number. He flipped through a price guide, threw it around a few times putting on a show, then called someone...I assume the gentleman I worked with on the two prior trips. He said that I had MS 70 eagles, ranging from 2012 to 2017. I corrected him and said 2011 through 2018, and he relayed that into the phone. He said "Where do you want to be with these?" and then hung up the phone. He offered me $42 each for them. Some were West Point mint, one was a proof, and he lumped them all into a lowball price of $42. I said no thank you, I will sell them on Ebay. He JAMMED them diagonally into the NGC coin case I have and tossed them back to me saying something about they cannot go any higher than $42 a coin. I straightened the coins out and left. At home I noticed that he chipped one of the cases because he jammed them in diagonally. He was totally unprofessional, not to mention outright rude.
I listed a few of them on ebay. The 2017 W MS 70 sold for $52 plus $8 shipping. The 2016 MS 70 sold for $46 plus $8 shipping. The 2017 MS 70 sold for $46 plus $8 shipping. The 2018 MS 70 sold for $46 plus $8 shipping. As you can see, the prices are all more than $42 and they include $8 for shipping that people are willing to pay. If you add that up, 4 coins sold to S&W would have totaled $168. If I sold them on ebay, it would have totaled $190 BEFORE shipping. Now imagine you have 20 of these to sell. S&W would have given you $840. Using the same average, Ebay would get you almost $1000.
I will never go back. read more
