It initially…read moreattracted us due to the pictures of various specialty dishes from different regions of Italy. We were most interested in a couple of the dishes, most notably the pettole and arancini. We walked up on a Sunday for lunch and none of the items we wanted were on the menu! The owner mentioned how she rotates all the menu items every month on the 15th, migrating between specialty dishes between regions of Italy for 11 months of the year, then bringing the customer favorites back for the last month. What a unique concept! Unfortunately most of the menu items available didn't interest us that much, so we ended up only ordering the tiramisu. Chef did offer us samples if we were interested which I appreciated. Tiramisu ($8) - The owner warned us when we ordered that she had just made the tiramisu around 30 minutes prior, so the espresso still needed time to soak into the ladyfingers. Electing to get lunch at a different spot, we ended up waiting about 2 hours before digging in. Unfortunately due to being kept cold in our cooler, the bottom layer of ladyfingers still hadn't reached the point of being soaked enough to be tender. Another hour or two outside of the cooler solved the issue. An $8 order contains a pretty large tiramisu square, hand cut and fit snugly into a takeout container. It's such a rich dessert that eating only about a third of it completely filled me up. It's creamy, it's tender, it's sweet, it's thick. It's night and day vs. store bought tiramisu, being probably two or three times the richness of mascarpone and cream, although not cloyingly so. The espresso soaks in well after a couple of hours, giving tenderness to the ladyfingers and an espresso taste that isn't bitter or acrid at all. Yum! (5/5) I don't eat tiramisu all that much, but I loved the one served at Pesco. Given that they have different menu items every month, it seems like this food cart is a great place to visit for plenty of variety. I'll have to keep an eye out the next time I'm in town!

I drove past this place the first time because the numbers were hard to read, so I posted a photo…read moreto make it easier to find. It's about 10 minutes or so from downtown Hood River, an easy drive on 35 and then onto 282 W, into a little main drag with a gas station and a few shops and hole-in-the-wall eateries. Michoacan is only open til 8, so get here in time. A single TV showed Mexican soccer, and the tables are basic. AC worked just fine, and the "sports bar" theme is mainly in some wall posters along with a hanging set of boxing gloves and some soccer and basketballs. The food is why you come though. For $2.50, you'll get a brightly flavored perfect guacamole, but a few bright red tomato bits and the herby bite of cilantro. The waitress told me that my entree came with guacamole, but I wanted more. I'd expected the carnitas entree to just have a spoonful, but it was a generous portion too. The chips were thick, not too salty, with enough heft to hold the thick warm bean dip that is complimentary. Inside the kitchen, visible from the dining room, you can see the women cooking. There's no celebrity chef here, no big presence in the kitchen. Just dark haired women chopping and stirring and making authentic food, and perhaps going home later to do laundry and care for family, all in the shadow of Mt Hood. Carnitas platter was visually satisfying - dark meat with a hint of charred crust, bright green guacamole and limes, a few orange pickled carrots, finely diced cilantro and onion. I often bypass the sticky rice at Tex-Mex joints, but here the grains were flaky and you could get the sweetness of tomato. As a solo diner I didn't have a chance to try the array of $2 tacos this time, but the tortillas that came with the carnitas were fresh and tasty, so that's my next visit! No mixed drinks - a selection of bottled beers (Negra Modelo, Corona, Victoria, Pacifico) which will come with no glass. The "glassware" is plastic, so you might prefer drinking out of the bottle anyway! Glad I came here - friendly staff too. Service was a bit slow - I had to ask for the bill - but fine.

Not a sports bar. Lovely drive though. Name should be…read morechanged to reflect the actual business that it is.

Of note, even if you were serving alcohol, I think this is a great addition for folks who may want to limit their alcohol consumption, and to ensure folks who don't drink aren't left out of having a special treat. This would also be great if you have a lot of kids in attendance. I'd be willing to bet you could book them for other events too, and I would. Honestly, we were really nervous about how not serving alcohol would go over, but during our reception so many of our guests raved to us about how much they loved it. Lillian & William (the owners) helped us to come up with signature drinks for our event, worked on a plan for service in the event of rain (since they are an outdoor outfit and we had a spring wedding), and were happy to go over logistical and safety concerns with regards to COVID (which is now a really important part of event planning). You can catch them around various markets and events in the community and it's worth the trip just to check out!
