Went for dinner recently and was very disappointed. I ordered Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was over cooked and very dry. Many pieces of lettuce were wilted and brown. I ate very little of it. Additionally, it seemed to be self-serve, which is fine but still someone should wipe off the tables between diners -- or at least leave damp towels out so customers can wipe them down. I came here for a business lunch today, as I've always heard good things, but never ventured out this way. Honestly, the thought of finding and/or fighting for parking gives me huge anxiety, so I typically stray away from anywhere directly on Virginia in Midtown -- unless, of course, it's tried and true and I love it! So, my colleague tells me to meet him here at 11:30am, so of course, knowing that there is some traffic/construction drama going on now, I get there at about 11! To my pleasant surprise, the 'temporary midtown parking' they have set up all along Virginia make eating in this area VERY convenient; I snagged a spot right in front of SUP, across the street. I ordered the Pesto Turkey sandwich combo with the Clam Chowder soup and Cranberry Salad. Everything tasted wonderful; the chowder was creamy and didn't disappoint on clam bits and the sandwich was just enough and didn't overpower in pesto -- a nice balance to it all. For what I got, I think $14 was a bit much, as the pesto turkey sandwich was good, but not gourmet. Would I come here again? I think that all depends on what I was craving that day; if it's a sandwich I want, I'd be very hard-pressed to pay that for another sandwich when there is fierce competition out there for that very thing in Reno, for less. However, if someone convinced me by saying that had some superb specialty that sets them apart from the rest, I'd definitely give them another shot. Love this place! Go early it gets packed fast, especially on the weekends. I love the seating outside. The service is friendly and fast! The seafood salad is dynamite! I absolutely love their soups, you can sample before you decide and I suggest doing that so you can taste the flavors of each and pick your favorite, you wont be disappointed either way! The food and atmosphere is amazing! I have eaten here quite a few times and I have never had a bad experience. The food taste great and the staff are extremely friendly. I love how they have an outside area to eat at as well. If you are coming for a big meal and to get stuffed full of food this place isnt the place you want to go though. Sup has moderate portions but they food tastes really good. Really good place to take a date too. One downside is the parking. It is very uncommon to be able to find a parking spot right by the restaurant but if you do not mind walking around a little bit then its no big deal! read more

We stopped in today for a late lunch around 2pm. While they were busy, the line moved smoothly and our cashier was polite. I wasn't sure we'd find a seat, but by the time we ordered a few tables had cleared out. My friend ordered the grilled cheese with a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. I had the full BLTA. Both came with their wonderful house salad and cookie. We had a nice meal, and I had to take half of my sandwich home. All in all this is probably one of my favorite local sandwich shops. Skepticism written all over my face, I approached the counter, only to be offered a sample of any HOUSE MADE soup they had! Like a kid in a candy store I humbly tried two soups, A Gumbo I believe, and the tomato soup...WOW. I knew then and there, and with strong suggestions from my girlfriend, Grilled Cheese and tomato soup it was. That sandwich is amazing! It came with a small side salad, the most adorable and delicious, tiny little cookie ever, and my soup, which was more like a thick dip for that sandwich! I ate all of mine and my friends left overs!! Fair warning everything on the menu is delicious and it will take you a couple minutes to decide what you want. Walk up to the counter whenever you're ready and order what you like. There's seating inside or outside. The outdoor seating are picnic tables and benches. Indoor seating are tables and some booths. I was craving a salad but because it was cold out I decided to order a grilled cheese sandwich and a tomato soup. Luckily my grilled cheese order also came with a side of salad and mini cookie to satisfy my sweet tooth. Nick order a tuna melt. The tomato soup is rich, smooth and creamy. Not spicy or too thick. Grilled cheese was light buttered and toasted with sharp gooey cheddar cheese! Yum. Salad is very good and they have a variety of dressings to add to it. Sups cookies are the best way to end a meal! I have been here a few times, but my review is based off of my last experience about a two weeks ago (04/13/2016). 1) If you are in a hurry, do NOT come here. If you are stopping by to get lunch during work, do not come here. I ordered a small shrimp bisque and chicken Cesar salad (two things that dont generally take too long to prepare). It took 45 minutes for us to get our food! It does not take 45 min to prepare a salad. And this was on a somewhat slower day, Ive seen it busier before, and had heard about ridiculously long wait times, but had not experienced it myself 2)The food is overrated. The bisque had little to no flavor, just a bland bowl of basic soup with extra small frozen, pre-cooked shrimp. And the salad, was just a basic salad, nothing that I couldn't have made (better tasting) at home and I FOUND A HAIR in it (picture is attached). Needless to say, I did not finish that meal.. 3) Overall, the best thing about this place is the atmosphere, you can have a little lunch outside on a nice patio, but the wait time (especially for the type of food it is) is absurd. I've only been here once, and my order was the three soup combo dish. The soups I chose were outstanding: particularly the tomoto bisque, although the broccoli cheese and split pea were also delicious. The setting is comfortable and you order at the front, so tipping isn't a major consideration. That being said, the service was quick and friendly. Reno really surprises me with this little gem. I would gladly pay 9 dollars for one of those sandwiches or salads. Well, maybe not 9 but 8 at least. They're big, they taste great and when paired with the soups, they're some great comfort food. The club, strawberry salad and tomato bisque were the main components of our meal. Delicious strawberry salad due to the dressing, fresh fruit and cheese. Club was a little dry but mostly tasty. Soup was not as creamy as I would have expected but hit the spot nonetheless. Sup has been one of my favorite spots since I moved to Reno five years ago. I love the broccoli-cheddar soup, and their white balsamic dressing is to die for. The restaurant itself is very cozy and the staff is always welcoming. The restaurant itself can get crazy busy during lunch rushes, so I would visit during off-hours if possible. This was a decent little spot in what seemed to be a fun part of town, but I wasn't blown away. I had a grilled cheese and a half caesar salad. Both were enjoyable but neither was noteworthy. My biggest gripe about this spot is the lack of space. Tables were crowded together in the main dining room, and the line to the register snaked around them, occupying what little breathing room there was. We got lucky and one of my companions spotted a table in the side room, which was much quieter and more accommodating for our group of four. This place is certainly worth a shot on a quiet afternoon, but I wouldn't bother braving the line and small dining room on a busy day. read more

When you're in a pinch and want something healthy and sort of quick. Sup is the BEST place to get a delicious semi-healthy lunch (depending on what you get). We were there this past Saturday. The young woman taking orders was so pleasant and kind. I enjoy that even though it is counter service they still bring water and silverware to the table. Portions are generous. I tried the hummus plate this time with a bowl of soup and it was the perfect amount of food. The hummus was home made and the veggies were fresh. The soup was a coconut milk based soup with mushrooms, but I forget the name of it. Everything was delicious! Five star for most honest people ever! Im pesketerian, so I ordered crab&shrimp salad, which originally comes with bacon but I didn't read description, and when I got it I was lil bit surprised. Salad was quickly replaced by meatless without shit talking like "can you just don't eat bacon" what usually happens. And as a proof they offered me first one for free to share with my friends who possibly it meat. Bravo!!! Also they honestly said that soup was warmed up in microwave, and it took lil bit longer because they are busy, but not because "it was cooked specially for you bla-bla-bla". Bravo twice!!! Walk in, stand in line, place your order at the register, pay, take your little stand thing to your table, wait for the food to come to you. The 3 of us ordered a full club with a cup of tomato soup, a half turkey pesto, and a bowl of tomato soup. We ended up receiving a full turkey pesto instead of half...and they failed to tell us that they didn't have any avocado. I checked my receipt and we indeed, paid for a full turkey pesto. Sigh. My husband and I came to Sup for our anniversary dinner on a quick decision. I was really craving some of their delicious butternut squash soup. When we got there they did not have my soup, however they did have a chicken coconut curry soup that we tried and decided on that! For our children we ordered half of the turkey pesto sandwich and had them split that for our two boys. They were so kind and even spilt the salad for them and gave us 2 cookies! My husband and I also decided to split the turkey pesto along with the chicken coconut curry with a side salad. It came out looking lovely, yet boy was it a lot of food! The soup had lots of chicken and just enough spiciness that was not too overwhelming. The sandwich was incredible! Thick turkey slices and thick avocado with sprouts made it spectacular. The salad with blue cheese chunks and dried cranberries made a perfect side to the meal. (It is even delicious the next day!). We chose to sit outside with our boys. A friend and I were in the Midtown area for dinner and since she had never been we decided on Sup. I ordered a Shrimp and Crab salad with a cup of Tomato Bisque. The soup was delicious. It could've been a bit hotter but it was very flavorful. The salad was quite large. Not only in volume but in how large the pieces of lettuce were. I had to cut it up to get it into bite size pieces. The dressing served with the salad was very tasty but not nearly enough for the amount of salad. The food looks delicious as they are bringing it out to tables. Everyone in our area was checking out what everyone else was eating. The plates all looked fresh and made you want to try them all. The table next to us got the artichoke dip. I can't believe it took me this long to try Süp! The outside is a little unassuming, and it's easy to miss when driving by. After I was suffering from a bad stomach ache I decided to stop by and give it a whirl, since soup was the only thing that sounded good. I was mind blown! I love a good soup, and süp knocked my socks off. Their soups are rotating daily, so keep that in mind before you pop by if you want a specific soup. They have daily vegan / vegetarian options too if that's something you're looking for. They also have really good salads, and appetizers. Very friendly staff which I always appreciate. I had the steak sandwich which comes with a small salad on the side. The steak was cooked perfectly and the horseradish was very good but I didn't care for the bread as much. It was a little on the soft side, maybe toast it, and had a layer of butter or olive oil on the top that got really messy. I also had the tomato bisque which for my taste was a bit watery and had a granular texture. Personally I think it should have more of a creamy consistency without the lumpy/granular texture to it. All in all everything was pretty good, very fresh ingredients, and I would definitely go back but I would probably try something else next time. I posted a picture as well. read more
