This "deli" doesn't deserve a one star rating, but Yelp won't allow for a zero star rating. I went to this place with friends and we all ordered several different plates from the breakfast and lunch menu. The waiter/busboy brought over a bowl filled with pickles that were obviously re-used. Some of the pickles had bite marks.- No Thanks. I'll start with the breakfast order - eggs with a side of french fries that were obviously fried several times over and served lukewarm. Bacon, that was deep fried into strips of absolutely disgusting grossness. The omelette was rubbery and tasteless. On to the other two orders, they charge Katz/Carnegie Deli prices (famous, AMAZING New York City Deli's) for sandwiches that are sub-par. Corned beef on rye - you can get a better sandwich at any Bodega for for five bucks. The pastrami - as the person who ordered it said - "I'd rather eat at Costco'. And lucky for the customers ordering a sandwiches, they get a ramekin of 1/2 a tablespoon of rank coleslaw. FYI, they charge $3.00 dollars for a soft drink. A can of soda is THREE DOLLARS. My valid reasons were clearly pointed out. You can state that the pickles were fresh, but unfortunately for me and the rest of my party they were not. Insofar as comparing any of the sandwiches served in your store to sandwiches from Katz's or Carnegie Deli mentioned in my review is irrelevant, the two deli's were mentioned only in comparison to price. The prices that other deli's charge in famous tourist locations in Manhattan have no bearing in Rye Brook. And suggesting otherwise is ridiculous. And to close this response to you, as a small business owner... As someone who supports local businesses without fail, the only time I write a yelp review is when the business in question is exceptional, or, underwhelming. The Place: is run by idiots. One person there is awesome but I forgot his name. The Assistant Manager Javier is rude and doesnt know the first thing about customer service. The Food: I ordered Corn Beef on Rye. Do not, I repeat, do not order this and never ever order the extra meat. Its a sham for an extra $3 or 4 bucks. Not to mention the meat isnt freshly cut. Its paper thin which is a clear message "we are cheap". This is no Carnegie Hall Deli corn beef or 2nd Ave Deli corn beef. This is better known as cheapskate suburb junk. Don't waste your time or money traveling to this place. On another visit my wife and I bought a bunch of items from their front store area. One being chocolate covered graham crackers and some other desserts. We got home and noticed the package of the graham crackers had been open already and someone had eaten two of them. When we called to do an exchange we were met with skepticism. Like we had eaten two and we're pulling some scam on them. Right, like we'd drive 30 mins to call and complain just so we can waste the gas in driving 60 miles for 2 freaking cookies. Unreal. I will never go back to this place. Ever. Not living in New-York but having family there, every time I come down to visit and usually end up eating there at least once since good deli food is hard to come by in Boston. This place is phenomenal. Their pastrami and corned beef and both tasty and melt-in-the-mouth tender and their salads are great too. They give you free pickles on the table every time and cook up some of the meanest, best sandwiches I've ever had. They have a huge selection of both the salads and the meats, cheeses and breads. They can customize them according to demand and they also have a great selection of deserts and take-home food like various mixes for cakes, popcorn and a whole bunch of other treats. Their staff is also very nice. The place was recently renovated from bottoms up and now looks a like nicer than it used to be although it was never bad. It lost a bit of it's charm but the new modern twist it has does look very nice too. Love this place. read more

I have eaten at Chop't and Chipotle, both of which are in the same shopping center, numerous time, but today I was picking up lunch before work and they work closed, so I decided to try Rye Ridge Deli instead. I was very disappointed. I ordered coffee, a toasted bagel with cream cheese and three salads - curry chicken, black bean and taboulli. Although there was only one person in line in front of me, it probably took 10 minutes for them to prepare my order, longer than it should have. I am willing to wait if it is busy, but it wasn't, it was just slow. Not only that, but they seemed not to understand what I meant when I asked for a 1/3 of a pound of salad. I had to stop the guy from giving me a quart of chicken salad (probably well over a pound). Ultimately, they gave me 1/4 of a pound of two of the salads (I could have asked them to put in more, but it wasn't worth the trouble) and they gave them each to me in small cups rather than the flat dishes most delis use, making them difficult to eat without spilling, I was also disappointed that they did not have bottled Coke or Pepsi, just cans. Not a big deal, but still, not great. When I got to my office, I went to eat my bagel and it was not toasted. Now, I am eating the salads, they are fine, but nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing to make up for the poor service or the price. Additionally, I'm pretty sure they got the order for the person in front of me in line wrong, a few minutes after he left, he came back in and complained that there was no jelly on his bagel. I've definitely eaten at worse deli's, but they were generally deli's I expected to be worse. I will not be going back. Take my order. . I ordered pancakes and corned beef hash and it took nearly 20 minutes to get that meal. . 3 tiny pancakes cost $9.99! Waitress barely came to my table, even though the most people that were there were four tables. . Had to get a Hostess to get the waitress just in order to get a check. . Living in Greenwich I am in Stamford running errands a lot. I also go to this shopping center, but I had never been into the Rye Ridge Deli until today. I was craving a turkey sandwich on rye bread, and sure they had it. They charged me .50 cents to add tomato, and another .50 cents for cheese. The sandwich was definitely overstuffed, everything was fresh, but the price left something to be desired. It came out to $13.00 for the sandwich and a can of diet coke. It did look like they had a nice place to sit and be served by a waiter in the back area, if you are looking for a place to sit down for lunch. We found the service slow and the kitchen unprofessional. It was about 10:30 on a Friday morning--not a very busy time for a deli. I ordered blueberry pancakes and my wife stuffed crepes. When they eventually arrived, my wife found the crepes were raw on the inside surface. She sent them back and ordered a grilled cheese and tomato. By the time the sandwich arrived I'd completely finished the pancakes. And the tomato was missing. When this was pointed out the sandwich was taken back and very promptly returned. They'd peeled apart the bread, slipped a slice of raw tomato on, and slapped it together again. Grilled cheese is not a complicated dish. For it to take as long as it did to come out showed incompetence, or at least inefficiency; and to think raw tomato was equivalent to tomato in a grilled sandwich showed disdain of the customer. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, or even negative stars I would but, unfortunately I have to leave one star to post a review. Today I ordered the chicken noodle soup, mushroom barley soup, and a spinach knish to take home. The mushroom barley soup was actually pretty good. The spinach knish tasted like old spinach paste wrapped in dough that was warmed up in the microwave, and the chicken noodle soup was a major disappointment. Are you ready for this? It was just broth with some noodles swimming in it!!!!! No pieces of chicken. Not even a handful of vegetables thrown in for good measure. I repeat, just broth and some noodles swimming in it. So we called and asked why the chicken noodle soup we brought home was like this. The employee took a major attitude with us and proceeded to tell us that we ordered the chicken noodle soup incorrectly. Ummmm, last time I checked chicken noodle soup has broth, pieces of chicken, and some vegetables thrown in there. Even Campbells Soup in a can got it better!!!!! And the prices are through the roof. I don't mind paying good money for good food but, I do mind paying good money for subpar and incorrect food that comes with a side of bad attitude. Talk about good luck! I just happened upon Rye Ridge Deli while on a business trip. I was literally just driving around looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat on my way back to my hotel. Usually that means I'm going to settle for fast food (and I do mean settle...) but not this time. After spending at least ten minutes going over their massive menu, I decided on Over-Stuffed Combination Sandwich #11 - The Stamford (turkey, tongue, corned beef, cole slaw, and Russian dressing). Everything was fresh, the meats were tender - a perfect deli sandwich. Actually, it was more like two sandwiches - they're not kidding when they say "Over-Stuffed"! I added a side of their red potato salad - delicious with a bit of dill to give it some tang. They threw in a couple of their home made pickles and cole slaw. I need to find a way to extend this business trip for another few months so I have enough time to try everything I want on the menu! I wish I could find a deli like this near home. I'd settle for something half as good as still be thrilled! One note for those on a tight budget - this place definitely isn't cheap. Pretty good for the burbs. There home-made roast beef is a show-stealer. Yesterday I had the pastrami which was palatable; I'd order it again. The staff is pleasant and efficient. Overall a fairly good experience at a reasonable price. I paid about $10 for a sandwich although I noticed that the bread was a bit smaller than the Jewish-style deli counterparts in Manhattan. So even though they pile-on the sandwiches with meat, its an overall small sandwich. This is an old deli trick that provides the perception of value. We read no online reviews prior to going and we are glad we didn't. We were in town for a wedding and the wedding party had a list of recommendations and this was one. The place is spotless. Well stocked with novelty foods, has a huge menu and an enormous take out menu. We ordered breakfast to go two days in a row, and that did no justice to the place. I would have liked to eat in for breakfast or lunch. We ended up with breakfast burritos so we could eat and drive. Our experience was good. Hot, delicious food. Yummm Rye Ridge is definitely the place to go if you are craving a true NY deli. I love how the sandwiches are named after the nearby areas. I ordered a sandwich of half pastrami, half corned beef with Russian sauce on rye. Oh it's delectable and comes with a variety of pickles to further delectify it. Mmm mmm good. Service is speedy and polite. They got everything spot on the first time and the guys behind the counter love their job. Fun to watch them as you wait. I can't comment on the sit-down service. The downside? The prices. In a line of 5 cars exiting the lot, I was the only non-Mercedes. If the bottom line was never an issue, I'd give this place 5 stars. Luckily, I came here on a Groupon (and with extra orders from coworkers), but even after that, to feed four ladies our total came out to over $40. My sandwich alone was $14 pre-tax, and I ate it all.
