I had three fillings done there and was in pain for two weeks straight; the experience left me feeling so stressed and violated that I was stuck in bed for a week. I decided to return to Insight Dentistry, this time, to the office in Downtown (I've been to their other Ventura location before), and I'm so glad I did. I have been a patient of this facility for over 10 years and this last time I went in October of 2025 for myself and my 3 sons, my insurances were not ran until after the procedures, leaving it up to me to pay out of pocket. I paid a small amount and had to call multiple times back and forth between the insurance and the front office in order to get small minor problems fixed such as the billing department not sending all the claims or sending in my sons incorrect date of birth resulting in claims being denied. I had to place multiple follow up calls in order to confirm claims were sent and received because I would never get return calls or updates and of course if they were declined, no one would inform me. In fact I had to call with my insurance on 3 way to even get any answers from the front office and wait to confirm they finally received the claims. Also, now that the front office finally received all the payments- I asked to speak with the front office manager about my experience and was told she would call me back. I also was told I would receive a refund and wouldn't you know- I'm still waiting. This has been ongoing for 5 months. It's disappointing because I had to basically act as the billing department myself. Again, the dentist is great as well as the dental assistants- so if you go be sure to make sure your insurance is ran ahead and cleared because you will be completely on your own to figure it all out.

The lack of communication regarding his exit was alarming; not only were we unaware of his departure, but the office also transitioned his patients to Dr. Malinoff without any prior notice. Reluctantly, my family and I chose to stay, hoping the quality of care would remain at the high standard set by Dr. Jabaiti. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The front office staff has become increasingly rude and unprofessional. They lack transparency and have consistently failed to inform patients about significant changes. On multiple occasions, I have found myself on the phone only to have staff members hang up on me without explanation. Moreover, since Dr. Malinoff took over, I have faced numerous issues with insurance billing. Under Dr. Jabaiti's care, I never experienced any insurance denials, but now, treatments are being denied left and right. After contacting my insurance, I learned that Avra Dental was not submitting the necessary documentation for approval. Despite my persistence, the front office insisted that everything was submitted correctly. It took months of back-and-forth before they finally sent the right information, resulting in an eventual approval. The rudeness of the staff has made each interaction a struggle. We tolerated this behavior because Dr. Jabaiti was an exceptional dentist, but now it feels like the office is in complete disarray. To make matters worse, I was recently informed that they are no longer in contract with my insurance, and with appointments looming for myself and family members, this left us scrambling to find a new dentist. There was no prior notice about this change, forcing us to rush and find alternatives. When I called my insurance to clarify, they explained that Avra Dental chose to stop accepting my insurance, despite the fact that they were still in-network. After persistent emails, I finally received my dental records to facilitate the transition to a new provider. However, for a family member's treatment, they had to go through multiple temporaries, and the assistants did not do a proper job. One temporary fell off in just one day! In summary, Avra Dental has become a source of stress rather than care. Save yourself the hassle and seek a dental office that values communication and patient care.

First, the receptionist always greets me warmly when I walk in. They let you know how much you'll end up paying--if anything--upfront, and you electronically sign forms consenting to payment, cleaning, etc. Because I crave staining food and drinks, I try to stay on top of brushing, flossing, and my dental checkups. When I first started going here, the dentist informed me I had the beginning of periodontal disease. So I tried to step up my oral hygiene game (do you know how long 2 minutes is? Whether it's brushing your teeth or running on a treadmill, it's forever). Anyway, this place is fantastic because they had me coming in every 3 months for a cleaning to slow down my periodontal disease. Then they informed me I now only need to come in every six months since this past year. That saved me money and made me trust this place even more. They have also repaired a chip on my tooth, and everyone from the receptionist to the dental hygienists and dentist is very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The only downside is that I need an itemized receipt for my health spending account. While I understand they can't provide it immediately, they informed me they would email me a copy the following day or the beginning of the following week. This rarely happens, and I have to call them to email me the itemized receipt. Although I understand their busy schedules, three calls on the same day were necessary before they finally emailed the promised itemized receipt from the day before. I plan to keep this original, pearly white set of chompers with the current owner as long as possible. Thank you, Main Street Dental, for making that a reality - so far.
