I initially found RX to address a specific acute issue I had(major tendon pain in elbow). I do intense workouts most days and that coupled with my age usually means I live in a state of disrepair. Jamie was extremely thorough during the patient intake interview(more so than my current Dr.), then she went straight to work. She holds a doctorate in Chinese Medicine and combines that knowledge with her experience as a licensed massage therapist, mobility coach, and CrossFit athlete to provide all-encompassing treatments that may include acupuncture, cupping, body work, mobility training, nutrition recommendations, and prescribed herbal supplements and tinctures. I started working with Jamie two years ago. At the time, I was struggling with anxiety and depression as well as chronic back pain, knee pain, and a condition called "trigger finger," which caused the ring finger on my left hand to lock in a closed position so tightly that I sometimes had to use my right hand to physically force it open. Jamie helped to relieve my anxiety and depression to the point where I feel like a new person today. She cured my back pain. She's reduced my trigger finger symptoms to where they're barely noticeable to non-existent, giving me back full use of my left hand. And she's managed my knee injury to the point where it's completely pain-free. That allowed me to start running again for the first time in years and helped give me the lower-body stability I needed to lift substantially heavier weight so that, as of the day I'm writing this, I've broken through the performance plateau that I'd reached, gained over 20 pounds of muscle, and dramatically improved my speed and power as an endurance athlete both on my bike and when running. Beyond what initially brought me to Jamie, I found that when my allergies are bothering me, Jamie combines acupuncture and lymphatic massage to open my sinuses better than any OTC or prescription decongestant (and unlike drugs, with zero side effects). If you're over-stressed, she can turn your brain off in minutes and leave you fully calm and relaxed by the end of your session. If you're an athlete looking to speed up recovery or anyone in need of help with an acute or chronic injury, her sports massage technique is perfection. She very quickly assesses your needs (in my case, much better than I can) and dials in the amount of pressure you need to get the maximum possible therapeutic benefit. She's skilled at cupping, which works incredibly well when you have deep muscle tightness. She also makes recommendations to improve your warm ups and cool downs based on your individual needs and provides guidance on techniques you can take away to speed recovery from an injury. Among other feats, she stopped a persistent headache that I had for multiple days in minutes. And recently, when a sinus infection with asthma complications including a severe cough knocked me out of commission, Amy combined lymphatic massage and other specialized techniques to help open my sinuses and relive the tightness in my neck, back, and chest caused by coughing that sped the recovery process and got me off the sofa and back to training.
