She treats one patient at a time, and in that duration she devotes all of her attention and time into making sure you have the right knowledge in how to best care for yourself. I have been seeing Dr. Lan for a little over a month now. In just 2-3 sessions, I have had a decrease in body aches including joint pain and muscle aches, a major reduction in brain fog, water retention and some weight loss and an increase in energy with acupuncture and mugwort (moxa) therapy alone. Prior to seeing her I had severe body aches and they have improved by about 80% without making any major changes to my lifestyle ( I was already eating very healthy and exercising). Additionally, I used to wake up feeling exhausted but after two sessions with Lan, I started waking up clear headed and ready to start the day. My brain fog has significantly improved as well which has been critical because I am pursuing a Masters Degree. Her treatments have also regulated my cycles to 27 days apart and have improved premenstrual symptoms to the degree that I didn't even realize my next cycle was arriving. Again, this is all with acupuncture and mugwort therapy alone, without consuming any herbal therapies. Her treatments help the body metabolize "turbid fluids" as they say in TCM which helps you to reduce overall inflammation. This has contributed to the improvement in my above symptoms as well as reducing water retention and has also sped up some fat loss. I am still seeing Dr. Lan for the long standing digestive issues that I have due to an ulcer and food poisoning that negatively impacted my digestive health years ago. That will of course take some time. But seeing Dr. Lan in such a short span of time has dramatically improved my quality of life. It is important to understand that you have to still adhere to a healthy lifestyle in order to gain the most improvement and Dr. Lan will skillfully advise you on what lifestyle changes you personally need to make for your constitution. Dr. Lan comes from a lineage of practitioners. What she practices, TCM schools in China and here in the west do not fully teach. She is a practitioner of qigong and uses the life force she has cultivated to treat her patients. When she arrives she will take the…read moretime to listen to any points that you are experiencing pain, your medical history, sleeping issues, weight issues, stress factors and will also look at your tongue to check for vitamin deficiencies! This is not just an acupuncture appointment but, an overall health and diet analysis as well. I personally enjoy her range in knowledge and her approach at whole body treatment that stretches beyond just the current session. I was nervous because it was my first time but, we spoke about the issues I was experiencing and she explained how the needles will function to shift my energy back to the proper places and improve my overall health and body function. The best part, she didn't speak in medical terms that I could understand; she used analogies that made sense so, that I could understand easier. As she was placing the needles she was explaining what part of the body/organs it was going to help and she checked my pulse and then added a few more needles in spots that would balance my pulse equally to both sides of my body.
