I will start this review by qualifying its authenticity. I never trust any review giving a 5/5 to a busines. Sounds fake or contrived. I was born in this state and love this city. I cannot give a supportive score to RWC Building Products because I never would have cared to provide any evaluation at all, until they gave me a "Shake Down" letter like Yelp participants C M. (2020) or Jason C. (2011). I did have a good experience with their delivery crew and an even better one with my Roof Repair Company. Then, as a big "gotcha" , RWC delivered to me ( Certified Mail ) an Arizona Preliminary Twenty Day Lien Notice. WTF ! The roof repair to my house was only completed 14 days ago, and apparently the roof repair company owner still has till the end of the month (14 days from now!) to pay RWC. I was assured by Yolanda and Mark at RWC that it was just a form letter they send out to everyone. I call BS and "Shame on You" William G. (busines manager). Thanks for sending out the warm vibes to hard working home owners. I don't know how many other Building Product Companies there are in Phoenix, but Yelp Readers should find one that acts less like Tony Soprano and more like Bill Gates. I was searching the internet when i stumbled across this fantastic place. i was in need of 3 concrete tile to replace as the old ones were blown off by heavy winds. The employees are friendly and very helpful and not to mention the price was great. I thought replacing the roof tile was going to be expensive, but it was not. instead of buy the three roof tiles that I needed, I brought a total of 6 tiles. if you need to replace any of your roof this is the place to go read more

So.....I looked out my window, and saw a dead bird on my patio roof. Figured I would head out there to bag it up and throw it away. While I was out there, I wasn't paying attention and stepped right in the center of one of my roof tiles. CRACK! While up there, I noticed a couple other tiles had cracks in them, too, so I decided I wanted to replace them. Looked up a few places on the internet and settled on RWC. Drove down there Saturday morning to get my tiles. I arrived, and parked in the lot. First time there, not knowing what to do, or where to go, I saw a sign on their front door that said "Roof tiles, please see outside customer service" with an arrow pointing to the right. First of all, THANK YOU for that sign. It is straight to the point, and tells you where to go without having to find an employee or wait around or whatever. I started walking around the side to look for "outside customer service" and this guy pulls up right next to me on a golf cart and says, "Hop in buddy". Score! I tell him what I'm looking for and he drives me to the area to find my tiles. (Side note....this place is HUGE! Like 2 city blocks big, probably) We looked at a few and tried to match them up, but they weren't an exact fit. Right away, after looking in 2 different places, he knew exactly where to go, next. We found a couple of pallets of the exact tiles that I needed! He grabbed my tiles (6 of them), put them in the back of the golf cart and drove me back to my car. I unloaded the tiles into my trunk, he wrote up a ticket and I took it inside to pay. Once inside, there was one guy helping someone else so I stood in line. Not less than 30 seconds later, a lady got up from her desk and approached the counter to help me. She could have just sat there and waited for the one cashier/employee to finish helping the one customer and take me next, but she took the initiative to get up and help me out. I handed her my slip, paid her my money, and was on my way. The whole process of getting out of my car to getting my tiles, and back in my car was maybe 15 minutes...maybe! It was extremely quick and efficient! Between the guy who took me on the golf cart, to the front desk help, this was seriously the best customer service I have received IN A LONG TIME from ANYWHERE! If I ever need to get any kind of roofing or tile supplies, this is the spot that I will return to. They have an infinite selection (the golf cart guy told me that they have some tiles from way back in the 40s and 50s. If you need any kind of tile, I bet they have it here!) of items, and the prices were fair ($8.98 per roof tile...not sure if that is a good price or not, but to match an older tile (house built in 2005), to exact specifics, and have it available without a special order, is worth its weight in gold!). I had a GREAT experience here and was surprised on how quick and easy the whole process was. Didn't get the peoples names that helped me out, but whoever you were, I sincerely thank you! I had the pleasure of speaking via telephone with Tony before driving to the store and he was an encyclopedia on roofing materials. Once I arrived at the store and in just minutes a representative name Gary courteously greeted me and, "Do I need to say it again, another walking roofing encyclopedia." I guess our subcontractor used them to get roofing materials. RWC sent us a shakedown letter (misspellings and all) threatening to put a lien on our home if we did not pay them with a joint check. We've had a ton of work done on our home during renovations, but we have never gotten such a letter. We never had any sort of business arrangement with them and we were quite surprised (and laughed) at their attempts at homebrew legalese. I was treated with disrespect from this company. I had major difficulties ordering my selected materials and they did not arrive on time (4 days late). When I contacted the company, it took days for them to get back to me and were rude, inconsiderate, and pushy when I finally heard from them. In the end, it turned out to be such a headache that it wasn't worth my time to waste energy on this low-grade company. I would give 0/5 stars if I could. read more

I'm rating on a curve because all building product suppliers I've dealt with are really pretty bad. I found RWC to be the same as others. Don't expect any help. They expect you to already understand how they do things. For example, returning product you go inside and wait in line while looking at a counter with many stations and lots of employees but never more than 1 or 2 people actually helping anyone. And by "line" I mean you're left to try and figure out if there is a line and who's next. Once waited on they fill out a form and hand you a copy...without a word, maybe a "here". Soooo what do I do with this? "Give it to a forklift guy"..."Where?"...now he's mad and says "outside"...oh thank you for your help, I thought maybe the fork lifts where in the showroom. Outside you find a dozen or so customers sitting around their trucks waiting. Who's next? Who knows. The trick seems to be to stand there with the paper you got inside and a fork lift guy sees it and does indeed come by and takes it. This goes surprisingly fast...but if you don't know to have the piece of paper showing...good luck. The fork lift dude picks up your returns, writes something on the form and you go back inside to wait in line again. Buy the stuff you need and back outside to wait in line a again. By the time its over you have 8 full sheets of invoice...by the end of a project you have a real mess of paperwork. Hello 1980's. Some employees are friendly enough, some are a real nightmare. Each employee seems to know a little bit of the business and when they don't they try to bs thru. For example, returning shingles that had the a lot of wrong color granules (brown on a black shingle) I was told I was using the shingle upside down...really dude, you work at a building supply and can't tell how shingles are oriented? Or are you just trying to bs me? Don't know. Then says they can't return them because the shingle was cut even through it's clearly a manufacturer defect. OK, so I should nail these onto the roof and put in a guarantee claim with the manufacturer? I ask to talk to someone else who starts right in with we can't take them back because they've been cut, bundle has been opened, etc. So I say I got a bunch that haven't been cut so can return those? They don't like this at all but agree to at least go outside to look. More of the same, the bundles have been opened can't be returned. The screaming now starts. "You're telling me the manufacturer won't take back defective product?" RWC dude says "You can't return a meal after eating some now can you?" in an attempt to convince me what I'm asking is unreasonable..."Dude, where are you eating? Of course you can return a meal after eating some and there's a problem. And the waiter will apologize and try and fix it." This concept he apparently thought I was just making up as he repeated it several times because I clearly didn't understand. Back inside another RWC dude joins the party and comes outside and I hear him quietly say to the other "this is a manufacturer defect" and says some code they can use to get their money back...from then on everything changes and they replace the bundles no problem. So that's the deal, they don't really strand behind their products. If they sell you crap you're stuck with it unless they can figure out how they can return it. 50 lbs of 1.25" roofing nails had a mix of nails ranging from 4" to 7/8", lots of misshaped nails, small heads, etc. 21 squares of "seconds" were fused together and unusable. They tried to convince to just bring back the fused bundles...carrying 21 squares off a roof...right. They took them back when I agreed to buy a better grade...extra delivery charge but at least no 25% restocking charge. The new shingles, Malarkey, also had fusing problems, the bottom shingle was often fused to the plastic wrapper making it unusable (although I assume most roofer would use it anyways, who would know? until it blew off of course). I just ate those as returning them is such a hassle. 25% restocking fee for returned product which is the standard building supply crap so they make their profit no matter what. When they sell you defective product and you have to haul it all back, wait in line and scream at them until they take it back...25% discount? Nope. A "sorry"? Nope. You eat that. I've never considered service at Home Depot and Lowes to be very good...but graded on a curve they're not that bad and return policy is great compared to RWC and other building suppliers. I'm not upset with RWC...it's how their entire industry works...really low standards for products and service. They have absolutely no reason to improve. So I would go back to RWC if I had to, but sure wouldn't want to. I would only buy products I had little choice in buying. For example all the other roofing supplies like flashing, cement, etc I got elsewhere (HD) which was cheaper, faster, I assume as good or better quality and return is a breeze. read more

IF YOU WANT LIEN ISSUES DO BUSINESS WITH RWC. They placed a lien on my home. The Credit Manager Mark was no help. Mark blames the builder for the lien, the builder blames RWC. The lien was due to RWC not the builder. I am the customer and it has become my responsibility to follow up with this mess, file the lien release, pay $6, and head over to the county to get a lien release. I have to add the paper work that they send is incorrect so you have to call them and hear the lack of customer attention and service the offer. BE AWARE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. YOU WILL NOT BE TREATED WELL and will be following up on errors from their disregard. I see from other reviews that RWC does place a response. I wonder what find of fluff they will reply to. read more

Excellent experience. My contractor sent me to RWC, Phoenix for roofing selection. Showroom was very organized and pleasant to view products in. I was expecting the typical hurried, impatient customer service experience found in the building trades. My expectation was blown away by Matthew. Matthew had a great disposition, unhurried, offered full product explanations. I had to follow up by phone for further clarifications as my project progressed. Again, Matthew was on top of his game. Not sure why there is bad reviews, everybody was nice and helpful. Needed a couple roof tiles that I could not find anywhere. Instead of walking around myself and digging around they have a guy drive you around in a golf cart to help you find what you need. Reasonable prices too. I was referred to RWC by the distributor of a tile I wanted for my bathroom renovations. I had conversations with two people at RWC, although the first interaction was not so much a conversation as a one sided Q&A session with a woman from the Scottsdale store who's response to each of my three questions was a single word 'No'. After the third 'no' I thanked her for her helpfulness (detect the tone) and called someone at the Phoenix store. On face value, he was far more willing to help me find the tiles I was looking for and said he would call the manufacturer after the weekend and then get back to me. I left four voicemails over the following week and did not get a returned call. I've advised the tile manufacturer that I won't be buying their tile and why. read more

Poor experience. Staff is very reluctant to help and price quoted was 2 times the price from another distributor. Thankful that the poor service led me elsewhere with better service (ABC) and saved me some money. read more
